The Instructor, Dave, is awesome, very knowledgeable, friendly, and teaches the CCW course with ease and fun! I've gone for first time and renewal and plan on going back again in future. Past students have called/text him to ask questions and he makes himself available always! He keeps up with changes in gun laws and can be counted on for solid clarification. He uses cool tech, like aim and shoot with lasers, without bullets for in classroom learning practical. Also, fees are much more affordable than other places around town. Thanks Dave! Lastly, (IMHO) Dave genuinely cares to pass those who take this permit seriously, as he won't hesitate to ask you to leave (without taking any penny) if he hears or sees that someone may very likely use this class for nefarious purposes, or if maybe someone is not ready to take the responsibility of carrying a firearm... I'd rather be told by him (costs me nothing) than not be told and arrested or incarcerated. read more

I ABSOLUTELY would not recommend coming here. I walked in and he accused me of smelling like weed. I responded and said no I smell like perfume. I didn't think anything of it but he continued rambling on saying that it's legal but it's not legal and unsafe to be high while using firearms. He then says I have to leave because I can't smell like weed in his class. I asked him what are you even talking about?! I was so upset because I wasted my time coming here and he had the nerve to call me out and try to embarrass me in front of everyone. He said that I could come back another time as if I would ever come back. Don't waste your time like I did. read more

The owner/instructor Dave Roberg is absolutely excellent! Even though I am well versed in concealed carry, I found his course to be informative and interesting -- not repetitive nor boring. I enthusiastically recommend him for first time CCW or CCW Renewal, as well as for specialized firearm training. This was my third class with him (I have been a CCW holder for many years), and I look forward to our next renewal class five years from now! But before then, my wife and grown son will be doing their first time CCW class with him in a few months. I believe in the old proverb: it is easy to teach someone how to shoot, but the hard part is teaching them NOT to shoot. Dave is expert in both of those aspects. Dave Roberg's CCW class was fun, friendly, and informative. Relevant topics such as avoiding conflict and de-escalating tense situations were covered in depth. Dave then instructed us when gun usage was appropriate, legal, and justified. We were taught how to properly hold and aim a practice gun with a laser sight in the classroom. Then, we proceeded to the live firing range for hands-on experience. I shot 25 rounds with a 9 mm pistol at a target utilizing the correct hand grip as taught by Dave. My shots were all center-mass grouped, even as a first-time shooter in my 60s! Dave's expert guidance made me want to learn more and hone my skills to become even more proficient with my handgun. By far the best CCW class I've been to in 15 years for my 3rd renewal. 6 women, 3 men in this class. David is very passionate about his students and doesn't condescend or belittle a first time student. He explains very applicable real life stories that apply to the students lifestyles and incorporates humor to keep you from falling asleep instead of just hearing a typical Power Point lecture. The real world videos you see that aren't too graphic, will educate you to make the best informed decision. When you take this class you won't want to take breaks. The dark classrooms' aesthetics are welcoming in addition to having a clean bathroom. With water and snacks as a bonus! Not recommended for women whatsoever! Lots of fear mongering and chest-pounding without adding information to help build confidence, alleviate anxiety or enhance/provide skills. First half of the class was talking about all the ways you could be robbed, raped, kidnapped, killed, threatened, etc. Yeah --- already aware of these things; that's why I signed up for the class in the first place!!!! When I mentioned that the class was exacerbating the anxiety I had about firearms and being a small, middle-aged woman in Vegas, and I was looking forward to the second part where the training would REDUCE same and start to help build confidence, Dave threw my money back on the table at me in front of the class halfway through the lesson and asked me to leave or come back for private instruction. He said he didnt want "that kind of animosity" in his class. I begged him to continue and explained it was my anxiety that was the issue but that I was sure I could continue. He refused. It was embarrassing, offensive, a bit misogynistic (I was the only woman in a 4 person class), but ultimately --- ego aside ----- he failed me as a teacher. I would NEVER trust him to teach me one-on-one. He lost my trust forever with that response after having shared my fears/vulnerability. read more

Today I took my CCW class with Dave, the instructor. Dave was all class and a professional. I enjoyed it from beginning to end, minus the one person who just had to make a scene. Dave interacted with a petulant customer who was clearly not in a state of mind to handle a firearm today, let alone take a CCW firearm "safety" class. No offense to her but she has misconceptions of what a CCW class is. A CCW class is for people who have training and know how to use a firearm already. It's a class to learn the rules and laws of having a "concealed" weapon to defend oneself. The price is very reasonable. It includes all states and be provides a firearm for you to use if you don't own one. No rental fee. The class was enjoyable and everyone was chill except for this lady who seemed to have a chip on her shoulder and had an air of superiority. The instructor began the class explaining situations where we could be exposed to danger. As the session proceeded, the lady remained standoffish. Maybe she had a bad day, bad week, bad month, bad year, who knows? I ignored her interjections as she tried to sound like she knew law but not really. Approximately 2 hours into the session, the lady erupts about what the point of the class was; she stated that she was more scared than when we began after watching the slides thus far. She brought up that she was scared when she was a woman and wanted to feel safe. Who isn't afraid of others who try to hurt us? Violence knows no gender or race. The instructor showed what states allowed concealed carry, car jacking, dangerous situations in common places, a video of a man going berserk on Las Vegas Blvd across from the World's Largest Gift Store, open carry, etc. Maybe something triggered the individual, who knows. I think this outburst caught the instructor by surprise, as were the rest of us. He was just showing slides and videos while giving situations where one could find themselves in danger. What's the class supposed to show? People singing Kumbaya? Dave apologized if that's what her take-away was from his presentation; because, he didn't want her to feel that she didn't get what she paid for. He immediately handed her money back AND offered to give her a free one on one session with him, even to do it AFTER hours and she can still get her CCW. She passed on the generous offer. Personally, I thought that was an incredible gesture. The lady then refused to leave after insulting the instructor and his course. She wanted to stay despite complaining this was not what she paid for. Dave calmly explained to her that maybe his course was not right for her if she did not feel like she was getting what she had signed up for. She then refused to leave after she got her money back. The man is professional, calm, deliberate, and understanding. This incident only reinforced to me that I spent my hard earned money on the right place. It's the reason why I didn't take a cheaper course in a gun store. In his office are various memorabilia left to him, from victims of violence who took his class to former police officers. Our afternoon session involved going to the range later that day. I would not feel comfortable around anyone with a live firearm who was not of sound mind and body. This is a CCW class for self defensive usage not an offensive usage class. If you are not in a good state of mind, it's better not to be holding a firearm. It's for everyone's safety. So, I was glad Dave diffused the awkward situation earlier. I don't want to stand next to an armed individual who seems disgruntled or agitated. That's how accidents happen. Safety first. After the lady left, Dave apologized to the class repeatedly throughout the rest of the session, even though every one of us in the classroom told him it was not his fault. We all collectively breathed a sign of relief after she left. At the range, and in class, Dave took his time to teach us how to handle a firearm safely. I have been taught how to use a firearm and have gone to the county range with my friends many times but it's been a few years since I held a weapon. I don't want to ever have to use a firearm, but I want to be prepared if I ever need one. The drama was more than I bargained for but the majority of the good reviews speak for themselves about Dave even without my $0.02. Dave is a grandfather, husband, and father to a grandchild, woman, and daughter. I know because he talks about them throughout. One of the guys arrived by Uber. Dave gave him a lift to the range and took him home too I think even if he lived in the east side. I don't normally write long reviews; but, this is a good person and a caring instructor. read more
