Cute place. Friendly staff. And Blake White! This guy knows hair. You can trust he will make you look great if you let him . I am quite stubborn with my hair and super over protective, but Blake is the only person I will trust to highlight or add color to her (my hair). He does not disappoint. Today he added chocolate tones. He used the balayage technique so that it would add dimension and look natural. And it does, especially in the sun! Five stars isn't enough for this salon. From A to Z the moment you walk Into the door it is nothing but short of mini space vacation. The cleanliness of the salon is amazing. The hairdressing chairs are the most comfortable I've ever sat in. The pre-consult on what you want are detailed. Hair coloring dyes are incredible and the color holds better and longer than any I've ever had. The process is relaxing and accompanied by a beverage of your choice. There is a large open air, shaded patio right outside where you can relax while waiting for or during treatment. Products and hair treatments applied leave my hair healthy and shiny. It is by far the best cut and color experience I've ever had. Not to mention the staff who are friendly and accommodating to you during the whole process. EXCEPTIONAL!!!! When I moved from the 4th largest city in the US to Lakeway, I was a bit concerned about finding a salon with experience and talent levels on par with the salons I was used to in the big city. I was "blown away" (pun intended, statement true) by the services I received at Strandz. I have had AMAZING experiences with Georgia, Loren, and Blake. Georgia truly goes out of her way to ensure the needs of the salon's clients are met. She has helped me out on several occasions when I needed to come in last minute due to extenuating circumstances (i.e. family funeral, last minute travel changes). I have had services by Georgia, Loren, and Blake, and each one has been OUTSTANDING. It is very refreshing to find a salon where you can see one or the other of the stylists depending on scheduling etc. and there is no concern that any of them will be offended if you see a different stylist there. It's very much a supportive team atmosphere. That was never my experience in the big city salons. My experiences at Strandz have actually not been "on par" with those at the big city salons; rather, my experiences at Strandz have FAR SURPASSED them! I cannot more highly recommend this salon. We just moved to Lakeway four months ago and I needed to find someone that specializes in razor cuts because I have very thick hair. I was directed to Blake at Strandz. I have now had three haircuts and each one has been the best haircut I have ever had - and that's speaking for 45 years of living with thick hair. The only way to describe his style is that he scuplts the hair in a way that complements my face, head, style - etc. I look younger - feel younger - and my wife likes it which is the most important thing. Bottom line - I'm very impressed with the way he cuts my hair and assume that for anyone with thick hair where a razor cut is the best way to manage the mess, Blake is your answer. read more

I'm new to Austin and absolutely hate starting from scratch when it comes to finding a good salon/stylist. I've tried a few other places in the area and this is by far the best. Very convenient, the entire staff is super sweet and their prices are very reasonable. Blake is absolutely awesome. I'm OCD when it comes to my hair and I highly recommend him for longer/layered styles. I'm not one to get my hair done weekly since it usually falls flat by the end of the day, but his blow out literally lasted through the next night! I was referred to Shamrea for my wedding updo. I'm really picky about letting hair stylists I don't know work on me after a bad experience. I called and within a few minutes of talking to her felt comfortable enough to set an appointment. Shamrea is Fantastic! The salon is Fantastic! Shamrea is an awesome colorist ..and great at what she does. We just moved here not long ago. I had gone to someone else three times. She had only got it right once. I looked on yelp, which by the way I have NEVER done before for a colorist. I found Strandz, saw the reviews, and I did a consult with Shamrea and knew immediately she knew her stuff and trusted her to fix my hair. She had a cancellation that afternoon and got me in and saved and fixed my hair! To the exact color I was wanting! First time. Everyone is sooooooo nice at the salon, and the owner is awesome! Simply put - Blake is amazing! He is super busy but always manages to squeeze me in. I run my own business so its difficult to take the time out of my day to get my hair done. Blake has actually stopped by my store to remind me when I need to get a cut. Not only is he considerate about my scheduling needs but he's fantastic at washing/cutting/styling my hair. My teen daughter and I both had our hair styled here. Karla styled my daughter's hair and not only was it exactly the style she asked for, Karla gave her an excellent cut. My turn was next, and Shamrea cut my hair. I have very curly hair and am always leery about having a new stylist. Another great cut. Just by talking about the cut with Shamrea, I knew she understood curly hair. They are very personable with their clients. I love coming to Strandz! My mom goes all the time and one day she brought me and my younger sister and Debrah did and amazing job on us both! We all have super thick hair, so we know how hard it is to do our hair! Even though I get a diferent people sometimes, they are always consisent with my hair. My usual stylist moved, so I decided to try somewhere new, and I unfortunately got the worst haircut I remember getting... ever... today at Strandz. My bangs are completely uneven, the cut is VERY blunt (as in a straight cut across) with no shape or style, my appointment started late, and I was in the chair for 90 minutes. The stylist had a very difficult time with my bangs - I have an intense cowlick, but I gave her the run down on what works and what doesn't. She asked what I thought and I told her that it looked like a mom hair cut. The owner heard me say this and came over to help, but instead of fixing the cut, she just started curling my hair and putting hairspray in it. I was the only person in the salon and it was past closing, so I felt like she just wanted me to leave so they could go home instead of making sure my hair didn't look dumb. When I got home, I immediately washed my hair again and put it straight in a pony tail because I'm embarrassed to have it down. I was told that I can go back to have anything fixed if there's a problem, but I have zero confidence that it will turn out better if I ask them to fix it. I don't have the money to pay another $60 to go somewhere else, so I'm at a loss for what to do. I should have just paid the extra $10 and gone to Milk & Honey in the Galleria and I'm so bummed I can't sleep. My stylist was very friendly, but seems inexperienced. Others have apparently had a much better experience here, but I won't be returning or recommending this salon. read more
