Nestled away on a quiet street in downtown Rochester, Strangebird was an absolute delight and somewhere I recommend you check out. It's a craft brewery with a walkup food line. The place impressively runs on light staff, but you would never know if you didn't pay attention because the service is great You walk in, order food from the walkup counter, get a number, find a table, and then order your drinks from the bar. They have a great menu of craft cocktails, and beers. The wine list is pretty limited. The ambiance is so cute. It was awesome that I was there on a cold, sunny, winter day, so the sun was shining in the big windows and the place was really pleasant. For food we ordered from 2 meals from the specials menu and the fries. We had the Duck Confit Salad and the Pork Shank Pizza. They were both delish and big enough to share one. We had plenty of left overs. The fries were also delicious and had a unique lemon aioli. Overall, Strangebird was great. The food, drinks, service, ambiance was great. read more

This was a strange experience (no pun intended). I'm fortunate I went with someone who had already been there because otherwise I would have had no clue that we would not have table service. There is no staff at the door or signage to tell you anything . You have to go to the bar yourself and get your drinks which is not so weird. But...you have to go to a food counter and order your own food too. It had a very cafeteria-like vibe to the ordering process. Again, very strange. Then comes the food. This is the only time you will see anything remotely resembling a server. The temperature of the food was good. The fries are soooo good but the pizza was a huge disappointment. The center of it was extremely soggy and the edges were burnt. I really should have asked them to remake it but it had already taken awhile and I was hungry. So, altogether a two star rating for poor ambiance, lack of communication, confusing ordering process and burnt food. I will not return. I'll take a few steps to the side and go to Owl House where I have never been disappointed. I feel this is what I get for trying something new. read more

Strangebird is a beautiful space and was bursting with energy when I stopped in for dinner. The decor reminded me of NYC or San Francisco, inspired design. The beers on tap are not your ordinary IPAs although they have a few of those. Sours, Belgians, and other interesting brews. I took home Mount Hope which is a lager with Pinot Noir grapes. I enjoyed the beers I tried, it pays to experiment. The food for me was decent, I opted for the smash-burger, which was serviceable, but the pizza looks like a good option. Beer selection is outstanding. Parking after 4:30 PM is non-existent. After street roaming for a place (their lot is packed) found a place to park. There was a sign but the times permitted were obscured by stickers. We parked. Six other cars parked in the same area. Came out an hour later to find a$115 and dollar parking ticket. The other cars parked there had the same. Close to a $1k for RPD. It's a residential neighborhood and if you don't mind a hike and/or a stiff fine, drive there. Consider Uber. read more

This place definitely exceeded my expectations with their food, service and atmosphere. There is not any servers but you can place a food order and they'll run it to your table. For drinks, you just order at the bar. It's a pretty easy and smooth process. The Buffalo chicken wing pizza was delicious and had hints of sweetness/spice from the Buffalo sauce, crunchy pieces of thinly sliced celery and delicious fried bits of chicken. Definitely enough food for 2 people too. We also tried the special beef sandwich, which was sooo good on their soft seeded bun. I can't remember what exactly was on it, but if they have specials going on, definitely order something! Super creative meals with fresh ingredients. Came here with my parents today on a whim and I'm so glad we did. Started out with some drinks- they had a good selection of cocktails, draft options as well as bottled beers. Lots of bartenders ready and eager to assist as well. You have to order food and drink separately if you're sitting anywhere other than the bar which is probably the only downside. But the food was FANTASTIC. We got the pizza special, maple buffalo wings and a smash burger. Top five favorite wings I've ever had, and that's a pretty tough list to get into. Wonderful spot with delicious pizza! We tried the buff chicken pizza (very good!) and the mushroom pizza (very flavorful!) There is a lot of seating inside and a few tables outside. There is a small parking lot but also some street parking available! I only tried the blackberry seltzer (non-alcoholic); was very tasty and not too sweet, which I like! We went today (5/30 at 1:30 PM) for lunch and a few drinks. The food was solid, but the service at the bar was horrendous and completely ruined our experience. The woman serving us was not only excruciatingly slow but she would not even make eye contact to say she would be over. While I get the craft cocktail thing, it took her so long to make cocktails that we nearly left. Our drinks were simple-- 2 glasses of wine that she had to measure, a Beefeater and tonic that was measured precisely to the top of the small part of a jigger-exactly 1 ounce --and a beer. They charge $15.12 for a glass of Pinot Grigio.. I'm not pissed about the $15 but the 12 cents? I would excuse most of the above if she just would have made eye contact and left us reassured that she would be over. This place needs a complete overhaul by a beverage professional. You need to charge the .12 cents on a glass of wine? Your bartender needs to measure a glass of wine? And use a jigger to pour precisely 1 ounce cocktails??! We ran into this brewery at the Flour City Brew Fest. Since we were close and we liked their samples at the event, we decided to go visit their place and have a pint. Their selection is good, the ambiance is cool, their staff - not so friendly, welcoming or even nice. Their product is good, but don't expect to be treated like they appreciate business. And I really don't have high expectations. I know working customer service is tough, but I do expect respect and no attitude when ordering. The bar tender, was just rude to my party of 4. My friends were just asking questions about the beer types and asked for recommendations. Will not be back. 3 stars as the location and beer was worth it. read more

Pizza had thin charred crust, puffed up edges, and the right amount of toppings. The kale in the salad was marinaded - it's flavorful. We were also surprised at its portion. Definitely enough for a light lunch! I had two beers in tasters. The nitro pint of malt (something like this) tasted like a bean water, almost coffee like. It's interesting but not my type of drink. They have outdoor seating, as well as indoor seating, partially covered. There is a lot of seating inside they have high tops, low tops I would say, family friendly. They have a cute little watering station for you to get water. They have a great menu. The food was outstanding the special drink was delicious, the service was phenomenal they delivered the food to us. You ordered it there they give you a cafeteria style card you bring it to your table they bring you your food. You can leave your card on file when you order a drink and if you go and order food, it's already on file so you don't need it which is perfect, friendly atmosphere. This is a great brew pub. The bar space is very large with two bars and plenty of seating. There is a small outside patio space as well. They had a great selection of beers. You go up and order your food and they give you a table number and they bring it to you. We ordered a smash burger with fries and a cold noodle and shrimp dish. (A little tip: the kitchen can add to your same tab from the bar!) We had pizzas, which were each a good size per person. Less than 30 min since they've officially opened their doors! Here is my review so far: It is beautiful inside! Space is super clean and renovated and has a comfortable feel to it. The bar area is absolutely beautiful and probably the nicest I've seen in any brewery. Beer is AMAZING. Been picking up canned strangebird beers for awhile now and to finally taste them on tap was phenomenal. Strangebird is going to give a lot of breweries competition with these beers, they are so good. You gotta try it yourself to see what I mean! Food was great too! I got their burger, it was simple but a good kind of simple: nothing too fancy or weird, and quality ingredients. Will try one of their pizzas next time. First visit within their first week of operation- the space was packed! Most people came in with masks on. There were also a couple of staff who were without masks. But now the important news... GREAT BEERS! Wonderful food. Thr Biggest challenge- it is pricey. I know inflation is real, and shortages are real, but frankly, the beer and food prices are high. I understand that you get what you pay for and I'll pay for such great quality. But, $15 for 6 chicken wings seemed a bit too much.
