Couldn't have imagined a better experience if I tried! I initially called to check availability and Wes was very friendly and answered all my preliminary questions. When I arrived, he took time to recommend a rental - the phoenix trinity 2011 (which was amazing to shoot) - and explained the reasoning behind that choice. All of his advice was spot on and he then took the time to explain grip, stance, safety, and answer the multitude of questions I had. He even took the time to let me practice with dummy rounds so I was comfortable reloading and knew how everything worked. At no point did anyone make me feel bad about being a beginner - despite there being other customers who clearly were much more advanced than me. The rentals are also very noticeably well maintained. Since this was my first time shooting at a range and I didn't feel comfortable being alone, he incredibly kindly contributed his time to come in to the lanes with me and make sure I was comfortable, doing everything right/safely, and answer further questions. I can't begin to express my gratitude for Wes spending so much of his time to make this experience once I thoroughly enjoyed. I learned so much and I can't wait to come back! I would go out of my way to come back to this place specifically - it's worth it. Thank you Wes and the team and Modern Warriors for providing a place people can learn and feel comfortable and happy at any level! I'm not reviewing the range, just their Cerakote service. I took a little J-frame revolver. First,…read morethey said 4 to six weeks and it was more like 8. I had to call to get an update about it, and they had it done about another week later. The Cerakote came out ok but it looks like they applied it over the serial numbers then ground it back. The serial by the cylinder is completely unreadable. The serial number on the butt of the revolver still readable but now I have to remove the grips in order to see it, where before the serial was visible when you opened the cylinder. I didn't take the gun back because I have to way to prove it wasn't like that before. I don't know about the rest of their services but I can't recommend the Cerakote service.

We were informed about the laws and regulations of the concealed weapons permit, talked about different scenarios and how to handle them in the most safe and effective manner, not only to save lives, but to avoid putting yourself at a huge risk of criminal and civil liability. The class was educational and enjoyable. We covered a lot of material in a short period of time, but I didn't feel like I was bombarded with information. The mood in the classroom is serious but with some humor. I did not feel bored or disinterested during the entire class. Dennis gave each of the applicants individual instruction along the way and again wherever needed. He took his time with me and answered all my questions. I learned a lot about guns and proper shooting form today! I feel much more confident now and am looking forward to coming back to the range for more advanced classes... TR was founded just over ten years ago by James Yeager who has logged in quite an impressive career as police officer and commercial firearms trainer in various capacities along with having worked as a private security contractor in the combat zones of Iraq a few years ago. Like the very best in this industry, in addition to having accumulated countless hours of operational experience, Yeager and his teaching cadre are also always on a ceaseless quest to expand their knowledge as well as put to the test the things they learn in an attempt to ensure that their cirriculum always remain relevant and on the cutting egde. The courses themselves run the entire gamut of individual and small unit operational capabilities ranging from the use of OC spray and baton to knife fighting to a very comprehensive program involving small arms from the bare basics to very advanced - all within a very compressed period. For their students (which include the usual mix of cops, military, private security contractors and civilians interested in obtaining the highest level of skill at arms) who have mastered the fundamentals, TR also offers a selection of high end courses such as various packages for their High Risk Security Contractor classes. In these classes the advance student gets an opportunity to be exposed to and drilled in the various skill sets ( i.e. shooting/moving and communicating as part of a fire team/squad, PSD driving, combat first aid, VIP bodyguard etc.) required to be fully operational in an non permissive environment. Besides the acquisition of new knowledge and capabilities, these high end courses allow the student to combine the wide range of skills template from the various other courses into a seamless composite. In the classroom, he helpedme understand why a certain situation was or was not a justifiable use of force. They keep their class sizes small, so there is more opportunity for personal instruction. On the range the instructor not only explains each exercise, but why each was relevant to defensive shooting. Additionally the instructor pointed out errors in fundamentals, making for an excellent marksmanship score. They offer other training in addition to the carry permit course, and I will be going back to USADefense for additional firearms training.
