We have to supplement her with additional home work at home. However, she's getting a quality education without us having to pay 10-20k for a private school. The most important thing is parent involvement. Money alone can't give your kid a quality education. This school has steadily gone up in ranks, and since the switch to Common Core testing instead of API, this is now a 10 ranked school. This just shows that the API can be gamed by rote memorization. As a parent, I had to relearn some of the concepts with Common Core, but it makes a lot of sense. I'm not sure why other parents hate it. The most important thing about Common Core is that there is not one way of getting the answers right. I teach my kids the curriculum method but I also teach them the old methods as well. Knowing more than one way to solve a problem and understanding *why* and *how* are the keystones of Common Core.

I once dropped my eraser and I got in trouble for dropping an eraser like dude it's an eraser. 3. Last, but not least the lunch food their sucks it doesn't taste good so I suggest u to bring lunch boxes. That's why I give this school 2 stars.

My son goes to this school since Kindergarten. He is now in 5th grade. Let me tell you why I am…read morepleased with this school. 1) The teachers are very hard-working. They respond to Emails even after 8pm. 2) The teachers are very encouraging to the students. My son asked the teacher a question. The teacher will say, wow you are so detailed. They didn't just reply to the question but gave encouraging words 3) Happy Students. I have interviewed many parents before sending my son here and they all said their kids are very happy attending this school. 4) Polite students. I once took a cake to my son's school and shared the cake with his classmates. When I left, 3 or 4 students came to me and said thank you. 5) Strict discipline. My son was kicked out of school for 1 day because another kid misled him. He had to write an apology letter per the teacher's request. I am pleased with this because I want a school to be strict on discipline. If you are being late or bully other kids or misbehave, and no consequence is given, this is not good for the child. So I am glad my son learned the lesson early. 6) Extremely generous. They give generous financial aid, and I am very thankful 7) A lot of after-school enrichment program choices.

In addition, the school also offers extracurricular activities such as band, clay art, debate, and others which they totally love. The entire staff is always helpful and caring, and there is a family feeling here. If you are looking for a great school with great teachers and staff, I would recommend checking out MCS. We had checked out a few schools before landing on MCS, and we were glad that we made the right decision.

Children are encouraged to play, learn and taught everyday stuff making them confident and independent. The superstars of this school are the teachers. It is bittersweet because our family loves this school, but we know she is well-prepared for elementary school because of how much she has grown at Day Star. All the teachers and staff are caring, patient, responsive and true experts in the field of early childhood education. They have the perfect balance of nurturing a love of learning, teaching respect and boundaries, instilling independence, and creating a fun environment. I trusted them fully with my daughter's safety and well-being because they truly earned my trust. My daughter is very independent and strong-willed, and it was amazing to see how her teachers were able to bring out the best in her without stifling her strong spirit. She LOVES going to school - she would actually complain about having to stay home when she was sick and asked me to drop her off earlier so she could have more time to do work and pick the lessons she wanted before they were taken! For anyone worried about Montessori teaching lacking structure compared to more traditional classroom settings, at 4 years old my daughter is able to write her full name, write all the letters and numbers up to 200, do addition, and identify all 7 continents and the majority of countries in each on a world map. Thanks to Day Star, she knows exactly where Suriname is! I am so grateful to Day Star and couldn't recommend them more.
