Definitely the worst bagels. Not quality at all. There was hair in one of the sandwiches I ordered. Service was horrible, slow and rude. Place actually looks dirty as well, not surprising. I used to go here for many years growing up as a kid all the way into adulthood. I have to say, the previous owners were amazing and the staff was wonderful. You can go in and order something, minimal wait and be on your way. I've been back several times after change of ownership just to notice it's become worse and worse every single time. I'm sorry, but no regulars go there anymore. It's like a ghost town inside, all the cooks & staff left the place, idk for what reasons but it just shows something is wrong. I went in to order a breakfast sandwich today and there was one other person in there with me...I waited 20minutes for a bacon egg and cheese sandwich, along with at the end of the 20minutes, them telling me they don't have pastrami anymore for my 2nd sandwich. Would've been nice to know that when they first took my order. Anyways, 20min wait time with no one in there is just crazy! What a waste of time for a horrible sandwich at that. I wanted a cup of decaf coffee. Came to this bagel shop. Decided to order a bagel with egg and cheese also.Their two pot coffee is behind the counter- no self serve. Once my bagel was ready, I asked for the decaf coffee. They don't serve decaf coffee at all! So now I had to pay for the egg sandwich and couldn't get the type of coffee I came in for! read more

Grew up in Brentwood I am 32 now don't always go to this place but when I do it is more on the expensive side, Service used to be great when I was a kid but every time I go there and order now they never listen to my order clearly and then tell me after the sandwich is made or during making of the sandwich that I never told them, for the price the service really sucks read more

My husband introduced me to Strathmore Bagels several years ago. He used to frequent this establishment all the time when he was living in Brentwood. I immediately became a fan as well. Believe it or not, but I've never actually had a bagel here, but boy do they make a hell of a sandwich! I've had both breakfast sandwiches as well as deli sandwiches and I'm hooked. For breakfast, I order egg and cheese on a roll with ketchup. It's always cooked to perfection. For lunch, I order a turkey sandwich with provolone, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise on a roll. The lunch sandwiches come with your choice of macaroni salad, potato salad, or cole slaw. I tend to switch between macaroni salad and potato salad, but I think the potato salad is better IMO. My only complaint is that the rolls are topped with poppy seeds which aren't my favorite, but the rolls are just so fresh that I'm willing to overlook that. Great sandwich shop! I used to like this place until today. We ordered toasted bagels and a platter with home fries and they screwed everything up! None of the bagels were toasted and the home fries were old. I drove back to tell the owner and then she started lying saying that we ordered over 2 hours ago when it was less than 30 minutes that we left. They replaced my food and I never even got an apology. I've come here a few times and their bagels are delicious and super fresh. One time they got our order mixed and the owner was super super sweet about it. If you buy a dozen bagels you get 2 free which is petty awesome and cost effective if you have 6 people to feed. read more

Meh, I've experienced much better. I have heard great things about the other Strathmore locations further out east, but this location is clearly providing only the bare-minimum to the customer. You know those bagel shops where you walk in and you immediately smell fresh bagels, and your mind is overwhelmed by the breathtaking sight of bins filled with fresh bagels and a dazzling display of various other food items? Well, this is not one of those bagel shops. This is bare bones. There is no smell of fresh bagels. There are a minimum of bagel options, and the bagel baskets are half-filled to nearly empty, not overflowing. Some flavors weren't even available at all. This is an hour after opening time on a weekday, when the place only as couple of customers in it. So, I ordered as best I could. I had to modify my order because certain flavors of bagels were not available. I also had to stick with regular spreads because they had a limited number of flavored spreads, because some of the bins for the spreads were empty. This location also does not offer the same baker's dozen of 6 extra bagels like the other Strathmore locations do. Their baker's dozen includes just 2 extra bagels. How were the bagels? They were mediocre at best. They didn't taste fresh, and they didn't seem baked properly, as they were a bit too soft on the outside. Also the flavorings were light. I definitely do not plan to return to this bagel shop ever again. This was the lousiest bagel shop I have ever experienced in my 40 or so years of living on Long Island, and having had bagels from all over the place. I am giving this place two stars only because the bagels were still edible, and the basic cream cheese was ok, and the store employees were ok. Strathmore is a good choice for a neighborhood Bagel Spot. Definitely a no frills sort of place, with limited options outside of the traditional Bacon, eggs and cheese on a roll or bagel. Reason I say that is, I wanted slightly healthier options for my breakfast sandwich ( i.e. avocado and turkey sausage) and neither were available. I ended up with scooped out bagel ( per my request) with egg whites, bacon, and a slice of tomato. The bacon had the perfect crisp to it and the bagel was indeed fresh. Wanted to get a NY bagel while I was around for the holidays and this place was close by. Bagels were good, BUT THAT STRAWBERRY CREAM CHEESE THOUGH. That was delicious. Chunks of strawberry in it and everything. Boyfriend got a lox and bagel with the vegetable cream cheese. Like another user said I've gotten better sandwiches at different locations, but the bagels here have a place in my heart (and stomach of course). If I could give this place zero stars I would. Stay away especially if you don't feel like getting treated like garbage. Went in to this establishment after soccer with my child to get Tom breakfast. Walked in and the place was pure chaos. So I finally placed my order and was told the sesame bagels were going to be an extra 5 minutes. So I waited about 30 min if not longer for my food. Finally get up to the register lady was going to charge me and I told her I needed a dozen bagels as well. Needless to say the guy who took my order got an attitude and told me well I told you it was going to take five more minutes. Really after waiting half hour. Mmmm something doesn't add up. I started arguing he was arguing with me and I left everything at the register. Hope the owner reads this. When hiring personnel please make sure they are not ghetto second class citizens that treat your customers like shit and treat the people they do now before anyone else. The prices are out rageous for such basic food. I caught the owner who always rings customers up double tax and triple if you use a credit or debit card I couldnt believe what I was seeing, pay attention to the numbers not just the total. My wife, child and I decided to go for breakfast here today and got treated horribly, I was in the register about to pay for my food and the cook walked over to say "what's with your attitude" I never had an attitude I simply was explaining my order and then the owner wanted me to pay but the cook continued to have an attitude so then I immediately dediced it was time to get my family out of that negative atmosphere and told them this was my last time coming here so the cook replied "don't bother coming back" I am still so confused as to why I got treated the way I did read more

This place is one of those places in the neighborhood that attracts people from other towns to come, either during morning commute, quick bite, going back home, etc. Favorite had to be Heart Smart during breakfast.
