So I stop here for a quick cup of coffee. I walk in and there were no customers. I go up to the counter by the register and wait. A man walked in after me and stands by the bagel case. There were 2 young guys in the back, one young girl cutting bagels, and 2 other young girls talking. One of the girls said who's next, I look at her ready to say I am, completely ignoring me she proceeds to help the man. I didn't mind at this point because I wasn't in a rush. Another man walks in and kind of hovers back. Then another girl comes behind the counter and says who's next? With that the other girl starts helping the 2nd man. I looked at the additional girl and said I happen to be next. She replied, you have to wait in that area to be served. Let me say it's a very small place and not anyone else in the shop except who I mentioned. I raised my hands up in the air and said OK. I left! I know this bagel store has been in existence for many years, but being successful does not mean not caring for business. Hot Bagels (bagels delox) has been a staple in sayville since I was a kid. They're consistently very good and now since Parkville burned down and sobol stopped making food, they're really the only place to make a solid egg sandwich. They're bagels are very good. Most of the time they're very friendly but for the 30 or so years I've been coming here (I don't quite recall what year they opened), their staff can be cranky and rude about every 3rd visit. It's not a reason to stop coming and kind of supports the NY bagel/Egg Sandwich atmosphere. read more

Used to go here with my Grand father in the 80's before he passed away, i have no idea how long this place has been here, but it was a place that's been a staple in my life, between my grandfather liking it, to two close friends working there, too now where i go back when i am in town.. Very disappointed in my tuna on an onion bagel ordered. There was hardly any tuna fish on it for the $8.50 I paid plus the extra charge for our full order using a credit card. The bagel was dry. I was already on the highway when I opened up the wrapper and saw the chintzy amount of tuna. I would have went back in and asked for more if I were still there. Favorite bagels on Long Island/New York. They are consistently great. Besides the snotty teenagers who work there, it's such a good bagel place. Updating my review- the food quality is def worse HOWEVER the thing I found grossest was how much the staff didn't bother to wear masks or have any kind of protection for the staff and customers - including the guy cooking and handling everything in the back, he was visibly dirty and touching everything and not wearing a mask. Try a bagel from here and you won't go anywhere else...here's why!! When you walk in, it can be really busy especially on the weekends. So come early! The counter has a sign for cash only, but there is an atm inside just in case. All bagels are made in house, and right before your eyes. You can see straight into the kitchen and see them coming out steaming hot! Hence the sign outside saying "Hot Bagels." I usually ask for whichever they just made and still warm. And typically there are many still warm from the oven. The butter just melts right in! I took off one star because I hate cash only, and the premise could use some updates. Came here for a late lunch bagel over the weekend and I was surprised at how busy it was. The inside doesn't have a ton of room for guests and where the line should go wasn't really all that inuitive, no one really could figure out where we were supposed to be. Fortunately, despite the small crowd, I was able to get someone to help very quickly - the staff here was great with keeping up with the flow. I just got a salt bagel with a little bit of butter and it was a solid bagel. Nothing extraordinary, but definitely with the LI standard. I definitely was not disappointed and with the location being convenient, I will definitely be stopping by again! read more

Made this review a couple months ago and noticed it was removed being really discussed at what went on I figured I would repost. :) So we were customers when we witnessed a pregnant women and her young child wearing masks calmly ask why no one was wearing masks behind the counter. All of the sudden the owner jumped up from his little corner he sits in and starts cursing and yelling at this lady visibly upsetting the little kid. They leave as the owner follows them into the parking lot cursing at them. My girlfriend and I just walked out and never will be back again. Talk around town is this guy has been really freaking out about people wearing masks. Even denying entry to the business to people. Seams he really likes to yell at women and old people though. Never hear about him yelling at a guy, real piece. In my opinion if you go to this place your supporting this guys behavior. Read the Google reviews. Always something with this place. I call to make an order and i am told "you can't order two bagels over the phone you have to come in we have over 20 workers to take your order here." As i can not leave my computer since i am in school online. I just wanted my boyfriend to pick it up and it be ready. We live 5 minutes away. How can a bagel place not take an order over the phone??? I've had a lot of bad experiences with this place. For one I find the bagels really don't taste like anything special, they taste pretty much like white bread. On a few occasions I've actually had bagels that are completely raw on the inside. The Bagels Delox is a free-standing one-story Building located on the south side of Montauk Highway, east of Sayville. Walking in ,the bagels and pastries are in the showcases in front of you, tables for eating on the left. The nice ladies are very pleasant behind the counter working hard to keep the place clean and customers happy. The walls are adorned with photos and pictures of local athletic high school teams and other local organizations that this business supports. Way 2 go! Pay it Forward. I I received my breakfast in 5 minutes. I got 2 eggs scrambled with bacon and cheese on an everything egg bagel. Unwrapping my sandwich and sitting at the table, I enjoyed the complimentary coffee I received with my breakfast. My sandwich was very good and hot. The Bagel was crisp,eggs done right. I was able to relax unhurried and watch the world go by for a little bit. I enjoyed my casual long Island Bagels Delox Breakfast. I will return and I do recommend this place for my Yelper friends.
