A nice late night option for music and drinks. I visted on a Saturday night and it was a good crowd. Not overly packed where you couldn't breathe but people were out! I'm from out of town so I'm not sure if there's any particular dress code here but I would say look nice. The DJ was very good and played a good mix. Drinks were decent. I got a chicken skewer "entree" which was just two chicken skewers with 4 pieces of chicken on it and nothing else. Not a carb in sight. We attended the Stratus Lounge on December 31, for their 5th Annual NYE Bash. The cost was approximately $150 per person when including taxes and fees. The open bar was a joke. The only alcoholic drinks available were "Well Liquors", and they only provided 1 brand of each type of liquor-- so there was no variety. For example, they provided just 1 brand of vodka, 1 brand of brandy, 1 brand of tequila, etc. The "light bites" (included in the cost) were not very appetizing, and the complimentary (cheap) champagne toast was a joke! There were 11 people in our party, and we were offered bottom-shelf liquor with no variety and poor-quality food! I will never patronize this establishment again. Save your money! Go elsewhere if you want an enjoyable way to bring in the New Year! read more

Stratus is a rooftop club in Philly on top of the Kimpton Hotel. My boyfriend and went on a Saturday night. Drinks were on point thanks to the beautiful bartender. The wings and pizza were delicious. I attended an event at this location on a Friday evening. The event host had a selection of food and open bar setup for us. The food consisted of a vegetable (raw and cooked) platter, butlered hors d'oeuvres (shrimp, ceviche, beef). There was also a station of chicken and beef sliders and salad. The food was delicious. They had themed drinks for us but you also order a cocktail of your choosing. We had access to the two indoor spaces; Mist Pavilion and Vapor Pavilion. Stopped by the outdoor rooftop bar in old city. It was pretty busy for a Wednesday night. They had live music which was pretty awesome. The view was obstructed by a wall but the decor at the Stratus really added a good vibe. We had a cocktail at the bar. I got Fraise Tagada which was made of hennessy, strawberry syrup, grand marnier, lemon juice. I wasn't a big fan of this drink. It tasted very basic. I'm a Kimpton hotel guest yet they charge a $10 per person cover for a nothing interesting ambiance. Furthermore, two nights in a row, my wife or I ordered a vodka based cocktail requesting two different brands that we drink all the time. Each time I watched them mix the drink and was surprised by how much vodka they poured- 3+ ounces. Each time I am even more surprised at how weak the drink tasted. You can draw your own conclusion as to what caused the weak drink. Never again will I go there. read more

Cocktail menu's fire - all I could've asked for What you don't understand Stratus can become bae for ya..... Warm brie and some steak for ya.... You know, they'd do anything for ya.... You could even take the train for ya.... Promise - it won't be lame. So apparently while we were all chilling indoors, Stratus got a full-blown upgrade and looks absolutely spectacular. The signature cocktails aren't cheap ($15), but their take on a Manhattan had me weak in the knees (and not just because it was strong!) We LOVED the baked brie - drizzled with honey, it was the perfect sweet and salty starter. The crusted tuna was a bit more "done" than I usually like, but the tartare was SPOT ON and the service was impeccable. Review based only on a recent happy hour trip. The place is amazing, not your typical roof top. They have a decent outdoor space adorned with choice full accessories and decor. The huge black wings are insta worthy. Servers are attentive and pleasant. We arrived at 5:30 and were seated immediately, music was pleasant and our server offered us the happy hour cocktail which was a watermelon tequila based drink. It. Was. Delicious. This place employs quite possibly the dumbest, most ignorant, and useless excuses for human beings on the face of the earth. DO NOT PATRONIZE this place unless you want to be charged (upfront) exorbitant fees for a sub-par rooftop experience. Was there celebrating with a group of 7 for a birthday & wanted to grab some drinks on the rooftop. We didn't even sit down before realizing that they had a $100/minimum per person policy. We had eaten dinner elsewhere and wouldn't reach the $700 total necessary so we decided to go elsewhere -- Before leaving peacefully, we saw that we were already charged $350 (half the minimum), and they were completely unwilling to reverse the charge. Instead, we were physically removed from the 10th floor and told we wouldn't be getting our money back. So if you want to be charged $100 per person for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, this is the place for you. We have unsuccessfully tried contacting management, who I'm hopeful actually know how to read (unlike the bouncers who work here). If someone who is employed by or affiliated with this 'lounge' actually cares about doing the right thing and removing the $350 charge, please reply. read more

Pretty unimpressive all around, not worth any kind of hype. Food is cheap and boring, it isn't worth the minimum you're forced to spend for reservations. Definitely an ok spot for a drink, but even the view and atmosphere are kinda bad compared to other rooftop bars in the area. Service is ok, but again not great for a place that requires you to pay in advance, wait thirty minutes pass your reservation time just to be "seated". Stratus Lounge is so incredibly beautiful! When the weather is right the time will fly by in complete serenity. The view of the Philadelphia skyline in the background is so stunning. During the colder months they have patio heaters and you don't even feel the chill. There are gas fire places surrounding the entire meeting area creating a very relaxing professional ambience. There are multiple closed in areas and the bar can be completely closed in with doors as well. This is a great place to host a meeting or have a party. The sound system is top notch- the decor is very classy. We will be returning. Friendly bar staff as well! Tip: There is not great signage for the stratus lounge you enter through the hotel and take an elevator to the top floor once there you can transfer to another elevator to go up one additional floor or take the beautiful staircase walk up into the venue. read more

So the first thing you need to know is that, for a rooftop lounge, Stratus Rooftop Lounge does not have the best views. There are countless other places in the city that I would recommend you go to if you want to have an evening overlooking the beautiful views of Philadelphia . But! If you just want to go to a great indoor and outdoor bar in the city then Stratus Rooftop Lounge is a great spot. You can come here no matter the weather (rain or shine) since the main bar area is hidden inside and it opens up to the larger outside balcony via these giant glass sliding doors. There are also two buildings that provide indoor seating on either side of the balcony. The palace is designed beautifully and has so much comfortable seating to relax and enjoy the night. Food here is great. I really recommend the flatbreads. And drinks are pretty standard too. read more

Went there for a friends birthday party and once we got there we told the girl at the front door we were there for my friend's birthday party. She charged us $20 each when there wasn't suppose to be a cover charge because we were there for an event. Also heard they wouldn't take credit cards as payment. A Delta flight attendant suggested I check this lounge out. The common observation that I noticed amongst Philly ladies & LA ladies is that there are no reservations to show their skin. Nice vibe amongst a very vibrant crowd. As an out of towner from Cali, I kept an open mind of the nite life possibilities here. I had a great time with gracious hosts. This roof top bar sits on top of a beautiful hotel, loved taking being able to see the hotel. The decor is gorgeous and has a very LA feel. Sadly you can't see over the edge because it's in the historic district but that isn't a huge deal. The is also cover bar area and two small rooms that are available to rent perfect for a party! Our waitress Chantelle was friendly and very helpful. Our drinks were perfect for an August evening. Really a fun stop while exploring Philadelphia. Late at night this place really comes alive but early evenings it's really relaxing! read more

I love an outdoor rooftop experience but Stratus Supremely disappoints. My friend and I came here around 530pm on a Thursday to enjoy some drinks and lite bites. Upon arrival the hostess told us that we could sit at the bar or find a table without a reserved sign. Well I idioticall looked for a table without a reserved sign only to realize that such a table does not exist. At this point we should have just left. I asked another waiter about seating and the waiter informed me that we should talk to the hostess about reserving a seat. So we went back to the hostess and a seat was reserved. I made sure to ask whether or not there were requirements for us to be seated and he said typically there are requirements but not right now. We stayed for a drink each and left. Drinks were okay. Our waitress lacked personality and prejudically automatically charged a tip. So yeah. I don't know what's going on with the pretentious service here. The most amazing view is of the sun. read more

I'm in love with this luxury roof top lounge! The atmosphere is always so welcoming & warm. The bar staff always takes pride in every single cocktail they make. And, the launch of their Alison in Wonderland menu is whimsical and playful. Management has done a beautiful job in bringing in local musicians to play on Thursday nights. You may not think of a rooftop lounge as the place to be in the middle of winter, but trust me it's cozy, comfortable & completely indoors!! Don't forget to try the "Oxley Have I Gone Mad" cocktail!! She was more than helpful when we asked for recommendations on drinks and bites to eat, and she did not steer us wrong. Another thing about this place that is notable is the ambiance. We also were charged 360 for a reservation just for 6 drinks. The math doesn't add up and they could not explain to me how that made any sense. We ended up ordering 6 more drinks AND THAT CAME TO $97 after I complained about the service because it took an hour to get our drinks and. Y the time we got them they were closing. No customers around except the folks the bartender was busy yakking with for about 5 minutes. 4 different employees walked right in front of me with no offers of anything, not even a smile. Finally the bartender wrapped up what was obviously an important conversation and sauntered over to ask what I wanted. Finally I get a drink - $16.50 for a ridiculously chintzy pour of Macallan 12. They have a lousy app menu - the bartender had issues with trying to tell me which of the dozen or so items was best. Oops. Silver lining was that at least I could take my lousy drink down to the restaurant downstairs, which was *much* better than this joke of a place. This place is pretty lame. The only thing that keeps this from being a 1-star review is the patio (and even that isn't that great). I was a guest of the hotel at the time, so I got to skip the experience with the bouncer in front of the elevator on the 1st floor. You'll have to read some of the other reviews to get a feel of what that is all about. With my hotel key, I could just ride the regular guest elevators up to the roof. I can't really comment on the quality of the cocktails here as I only ordered beers this night. But the bartenders took my orders right away and they weren't too pricey. As for the aforementioned rooftop patio, you would expect that there would be great views of the city as the hotel is facing Independence National Historic Park. You would be disappointed, though. The way the building was constructed, the parapet wall completely obscures the view of anything close. You can see the tops of a few buildings that are quite a distance away, but that's it. However, the night sky was cool and crisp this evening so I preferred to stay outside rather than inside where the mediocre DJ was spinning at a volume way too loud for such a small space. "The details are not the details. They make the design." - C. Eames Stratus Rooftop Bar & Lounge sacrifices function in its attempt to be the next trendy hot spot. To keep it brief, here are my top three gripes. 1. You can't sit at the bar and enjoy a drink. There are plenty of seats, but they are a physical mismatch for the height of the bar. With less than two inches of space between the seat and the counter it took a lot of shimmying (and the give of the leather - or pleather) for me to wedge myself below the bar. A quick glance around and I noticed everyone else sitting side saddle or pushed out so their knees were free of the bar (diminishing any clear space behind the seats). 2. The menu was bound without proper margins, so some text is cut off. Can I still read the menu? Yes, and the prices are loud and clear ($9 - $16 glasses of wine, beers starting around $7). Is it a sloppy detail that's easy to fix? Absolutely. 3. The fake exclusivity of its 11th floor location. The elevators only go up to the 10th floor. You'll have to exit onto the 10th floor of guest rooms (with no signage in the elevator) and walk up the last flight of steps to get to the entrance. I cringe at the thought of a line snaking up this stair on a busy night and a bouncer chilling outside someone's guest room checking IDs. Some other negatives worth noting: - the mechanical enclosure of the fireplace (or something else?) is over 6' tall and blocks any view west; - the menu doesn't include a cocktail list; - lighting levels really inconsistent, washed out in some areas while completely dark in others. read more

Went for pre-dinner cocktails. Atmosphere was nice with one exception: the music was so loud we could barely hear one another. Ordered drinks off the cocktail menu. A couple were ok, one was terrible. When the bill came, the bill was much higher than the price of the drinks. I asked our server if she had given us the bill for another table, and she said "no, let me print an itemized bill." I watched, she had already printed it, but conveniently forgot to bring it when she brought our credit card receipt. As it turned out, she had included a 20% tip for herself, didn't tell us, and the credit card receipt that I had to sign also had a line to add a tip, so she was trying to get his to tip her twice.
