This is probably one of the best pizza places in Gilroy. Ever since they reopened with new owners this has been the go-to place. They have two huge party rooms, about 20 72 inch Flat screen TVs (which is the most TVs I've seen in any restaurant) the owner Raj is soooo nice and supports the local Gilroy community. Came here for the first time last Saturday for the UFC fight. They have about 30 70-inch TV's. which means there is not a bad seat anywhere in the Restaurant. Last night we ordered a king size pepperoni pizza for my kids & a cauliflower aloha chicken pizza for myself and my boyfriend. I normally don't look into the pizza boxes because there is no need to check it out because the crew always does a good job! I get home and holler to my kiddos that dinner was here to come and eat, as I was serving them I was like STOP!! This isn't what I ordered, as I call back to Strawhat the gentleman asked me what was the number underneath the pizza box & it was "16" then he rechecks my order & he said I apologize for that and come within 20 minutes and we have your correct order ready. I thanked the gentleman & then I asked him do I bring back these other pizza I had he said no because they were touched and I'm thinking they would toss them Forsure. All I can say is that I was very pleased that they on it making our order and it happens everyone makes mistakes but I happy they fixed it with no question asked nor having to pay again for the pizza's!! I am biased.... all the years as a child coming here left found memories. I also am not a fan of pizza places in Gilroy so for Gilroy this place is the best in my opinion. pros: I honestly like the pizza a lot. I order without cheese so it's vegan and i enjoy the salad bar. It's also great for large groups and half price Tuesdays rock! But make sure to get takeout cause it's PACKED then! I'm not a fan of the pizza lunch deal pizza but the kids are and many other people like it. I love the owner who knows our family from how often we go. Very sweet guy. cons: I would love to see the salad bar kept up more and the place is outdated. read more

First off, let me preface this review by stating that this place is better then Pizzahut's, Little Caesar, or Dominos garbage pizza. A higher quality cheese could be used especially on the price they charge for pizza. I think they are charging for the quantity of dough, the taste and quality of the dough are not that desirable. The dough is cardboardy. In fact the pizza has some after taste that needs to be fixed. Aside from the cheese and dough, the sauce was pleasantly decent. The toppings were also of decent quality. The a Italian sausage was par for a decent pizza so I was happy there as well. The mushrooms were very small but tasted good. The veggie pizza had good toppings. The salad bar was good. A final note. The wings and ranch sauce were both very good. In fact if I went back, it is for wings, not pizza. In Gilroy this weekend and decided ro give the place a try. Nothing special about the pizza, it's almost had the taste of a frozen pizza. I ordered just a basic pepperoni pizza and was definitely disappointed with the amount of toppings. Overpriced for sure. Customer service was just ok, seemed like they just wanted to rush you out. Not even a greeting from the employees. Best pet of the visit was the atmosphere. The TVs were on and there was several kids playing on the arcade games which were up to date and very clean. This pizza is not good. It's fast food pizza (dominos, papa Johns, Pizza Hut etc) quality but nice pizza price. I live in SF so I'm used to high-prices pizza, but it usually comes with better quality. Also, we added garlic, assuming it would be fresh because of the price and the fact that we were in gilroy. But no. It was the nasty jarred minced garlic. I've never had bad pizza so it's not like I couldn't eat this, but I wouldn't go back. read more

This pizza passes the test. I got a small pepperoni, bell pepper, and mushroom, and it was tasty. They didn't put on too much of anything (like sauce - I hate when there is too much sauce). Speaking of sauce, the sauce was good as well. No fake-tasting ingredients like at a Domino's (oh my... did I just go there? Yes I did.). The issue is the dough, which you would think would be somewhat consistent from restaurant to restaurant I hate frozen pizzas as they typically are bad, and the dough on this pizza tasted and looked like a frozen pizza. Maybe the Dough is premade or frozen when delivered to their Restaurant ?? but it sure didn't have that Fresh quality. So up until recently I have had a pretty good experience here. I used to come in with my family every week during lunch time and the owner knew us and was always friendly. I love the lunch special prices and the amount of food is pretty good. The salad bar could use some more options but overall not a bad little place. However the reason I am taking away a star is last week I went in and was really disappointed all around! I left there angry and almost in tears. First off it was night time and the people working were ignoring me to text and laugh while speaking to each other in Spanish, granted I was on my phone but I had put it down to talk to them. After a few minutes I asked them if they had something similar to the lunch special, as I didn't want a whole pizza. She informed me that I had to order a full size pizza, without so much as suggesting another option or trying to work with me. I guess I am spoiled because the owner has made substitutions for our family many times (since some of them are vegan). Fine, I end up getting a medium which was only like $2 more (or something like that), the salad bar and I also ordered there wedges. On the front counter there was a sign advertising 1 pound of fries for $3.99 (I think) the wedges were like $7.99 but I assumed I would get the same amount of food. WRONG! When the order came there was literally 8 wedges inside. When I questioned her about the fact that the container wasn't even 1/2 full she said, "that's how many come in the order" and then walked away to talk to the same guy to continue the conversation I had apparently interrupted. While staring and pointing and LAUGHING at me or at least in my direction, they continued to talk to each other in Spanish, making me feel uncomfortable. I spent almost $40 in their place and I left in damn near tears and shaking from anger and humiliation. Not to mention I felt like I was ripped off for the amount of money I spent and the little amount of food I received. I have been there many times, and since my family enjoys going there so much I will probably return but only during lunch hours when the owner is there. It's very disappointing too because I really dislike Pizza Hut's service and prices and we order pizza a lot. I was hoping to replace it permanently with Straw Hat. read more
