Oh an arcade. My kids will never eat dinner or want to leave. There are games in the front and a bit bigger arcade in the back. Would be a nice spot to have a bday party if we were from around here. Pizza was good but my kids fries were a bit overcooked. Service was quick as it was a Friday evening. Called my order in on Halloween for the online special. They are a participating restaurant as I had ordered it earlier in the month and it is good through the 31st as the coupon states. Girl put me on hold, came back and said we stopped doing that yesterday and we can't make a profit selling large 2 topping pizza at $19.99. Instead of 40 bucks your order will be 70. At this point I had people that would be waiting for me with the pizza so I took the hit and went there. Went there at 5:45 as requested for my pizza and there was literally 20 people in line waiting to order/pay with only one young girl at the counter taking money, orders, getting pitchers etc for everyone. People had to wait out the back door there was not enough room for them. Needless to say it took an extra 45 minutes to get my food and by the time I got home to all the kids the pizza was Luke warm and sucked. If you don't want to participate in corporate promotions you don't have to, but if you do, you don't get to pick and choose when you start and stop your promotion without written warning. Your pizza is typically good but I refuse to patronize a store with ownership/ management that would do this. Also, it's Halloween for Gods sake. Employee up to take care of the orders. You aren't new. You know this. And don't feed me a typical standard response that someone called in sick and blah blah blah. Don't care. read more

My family and I are from the Central Valley and we attended Gilroy gardens and wanted to sit down after to enjoy some pizza! We knew that this place had family memories from when my mother was a child and decided to sit and enjoy some time together. Let me just say the ambience in this place was so family friendly! The kids had so much fun playing in the arcade area while us adults enjoyed some sports on the screen! Let me just say, the supreme pizza was the best one yet! It is probably the best pizza in Gilroy. A friend who's lived in Gilroy for years swears by Round Table, but that place pales in comparison to Straw Hat, which doesn't say much but there it is. Regardless, their pizzas are pretty solid if you want pizza. And they serve Coke, not Pepsi at their newer model fountain machine, with is a plus for me. We ordered a medium combo pizza that had everything on it: pepperoni, sausage, olives, bell pepper, onion, mushroom and whatever else I can't recall, and it was good. Their fountain drinks are well carbonated and the seating there has big screen TVs all over the place, and games for the kids. Didn't see what the condition of their restrooms was like, but the tables ere in fair condition along the front entrance by the soda machines. Seating on a Saturday evening wasn't a problem and in the distance along the booths I saw they had kiddy chairs for small children. Medium sized pizza was good for 2, with some to spare. Staff was friendly. If I was in the mood for pizza and didn't want to go all the way to Morgan Hill for Mod, I'd def recommend coming here again. read more

So ... writing a review fir Straw Gat has proven difficult. We ordered the pizza to be delivered. I was a little shocked at how expensive it was fir medium pizzas. I did do customs orders though so price was a bit understandable. When we received the pizzas though... it was a bit weird! The pizzas were cooked but every single veggie I had selected on the pizza was completely raw. I'm talking 'bring me some lettuce and let me scrape this pizza toppings onto it and I'll have a massive fresh salad' raw. Now don't get me wrong... I love raw veggies, quite possibly more than your average person but not when I'm in the mood to eat pizza. Raw onions, tomato, bell pepper (cold) myopic of a cooked pizza was just weird to me. They say they are authentic California style pizza. Perhaps that's what California style pizza is supposed to be? It was also woefully devoid of sauce ... I get spreading it thin but can I just have a tiny bit in each bite? My hubby's pizza had the same issue but only with the tomatoes. We both agreed it was definitely not good pizza. However I will say what saves this from a one star review is once I recooked (or should I say cooked) the pizza the next day in the oven and the veggies softened and melded with the cheese a bit... it was edible. Still not great but hugely improved. Though cooking it did kind of overcook the cheese but I didn't mind the tiny bit of scorch. I sure hope this is not the standard for all California pizza .... talk about making a girl Homesick! read more

My family decided to go to Straw Hat after church today w/4 kids under age 12. The pizza was great. I really liked the crust. It had a great light crunch to it but also soft & very flavorful. They didn't skimp out on the toppings. It was delicious. My parents also ordered the chicken wings w/2 different dipping sauces. The garlic dipping sauce was fantastic. The wings were juicy but yet wonderfully crispy on the outside. I highly recommend this place greatly. They have a really fun game area for the kids to play. There are loads of TV screens to watch what ever your favorite sport is. I've grown up coming here & this place seems to just get better & better. I look forward to coming back. read more

I got american cheese for the second time. First on a pizza which was gross but I couldn't comprehend it would happen with a Meatball High Hat (Calrone) but it happened. I called to complain they put me on with the cook and she said she has been there for 6 years and that is what they have always used, so she lied to me. I have enjoyed Straw Hat for about 5 years as a nice place for lunch. I guarantee if I was ever served anything with "the blend" I would have never come back the first time. I just hope the owner who is a very nice guy sees this and make a change because your product is bearly edible. I am thinking of switching to Pizza Factory and I got the runs last time but it tasted like pizza. Your's does not. Very disappointed long time customer. Burnt and raw garlic twists. I had tasted Straw Hat Pizza for the first time a few months ago and was super impressed that I had to try it again. We went on the 1/2 off pizza tuesdays, there happen to be a game playing so it was pretty crowded. Parking - available all around the plaza it is in. Found decently close parking. Inside - the order line is straight when you enter in the building. I was amazed how many TVs are in the is place. Easily 15+ large tv screens throughout the dinning room with games/ sports events to watch. To my surprise they had quite a few video games and kid games where kids can collect tickets and trade in for prizes. They also had 2 party rooms in the back that were a pretty good size. Plenty of seating - combination of booths and tables. The tables were clean. They had a salad bar, a variety of draft beers available, and of course amazing tasting pizza. The pizza is so fresh and the ingredients all look fresh. The pizzas are cooked to perfection. The size of a large pizza is roughly $25-$30. I highly recommend this place as the space is great and the food taste even better. I will be returning again. read more

Went there and picked up my first Straw Hat Gilroy pizza last night, been living here almost 1-1/2 years and this was only my third pizza, but clearly the best. And we do know pizza. I have my own Roccbox pizza oven, cooks on hardwood or propane. But they're smaller sized. And my wife, before starting a career in Real Estate ran the back office, marketing, training manuals for a multiple location business in San Jose. So we had pizza several times a week. The pizza had a nice chewy crust that was crispy on the bottom. The sauce was delicious, nicely spiced and fresh. Toppings also tasted fresh. The twists were cheesy and garlicky. Yum!
