Our first time coming to Gilroy Straw Hat Pizza to watch the UFC Fight. It was packed house but we ordered wings, bread twists, and potato wedges for appetizers. Within 10 mins our appetizers came out to our table and they were hot and good!!! Next we ordered the pizzas, very very good is all I can say about the pizzas. Straw Hat changed their crust. Pretty sure this is a pre-made crust. It's not tossed, it's cut. The crust is not good. Avoid eating the crust. Only order pizza here on 1/2 off tuesdays. I have to give them Five stars. Awesome service, I was honestly impressed because now days it's so hard to get good service. Today we celebrate my sons birthday, and from when I came in to reserve the owner was supper nice and helpful. Today when we arrived they had the room ready for us, and the girl in the front was so nice, polite, fast, and took our huge order in seconds. The pizza was out like in 18 min, and they were super swamped as well. The best part is that they do all he cleaning. All we had to do is get the cake, and walk out. Pizza is mediocre at best, but I have gone here several times over the years due to the price. My mom ordered an extra large pepperoni pizza for delivery, online it said $25 for an extra large (since they do cheaper pizza on Tuesdays), I asked for extra sauce on the pizza. There was an undetectable amount of sauce still unfortunately. I wouldn't have cared much but when it was delivered the pizza was $45. Plus tip. $45+ for a pepperoni pizza. A mountain mikes medium size pizza is the same size as their extra large as well. Unhappy & not worth the price. read more

I Would give more than 5 stars if I could. Strawhat Gilroy is by far one of thee BEST pizza spots to visit in Gilroy, the staff is always so polite & on top of things. As soon as you walk in the place is filled with countless Tv's so you can watch just about any sporting event imaginable including pay per view events FOR FREE. Once you hit the counter you'll notice the back wall is filled with a WIDE VARIETY of beers which is a + The owner Raj is friendly, treats everyone as if they are family, and is so kind to my kids and others. He's always so accommodating when we try to have our kids bday dinners at his establishment and he has event purchased the vacant spot next door and has started construction on what will soon be 2 private party rooms, and plenty more games for the kids and adults. I can't commend Raj & his staff enough for always taking care of the people in the City of Gilroy. Keep up the awesome service and thank you for everything you have contributed to our community. We went here on a Saturday to celebrate our 10 year old son's b day. Nothing big, just him and his 2 friends. This place was very clean and newly remodeled. They have fun arcade games for the kids and they were all in working condition. You can win a good amount of tickets and they have cool prizes for the kiddos to pick from! The staff was friendly and the food was good! The bread twists were BOMB, definitely recommend! We live in Monterey but will for sure visit this place again when we are in the area. Buyer beware... if you place an online order and are unhappy with your order... for, say, they burn your pizza, you can't get your money back directly at the restaurant. You have to contact the app that takes the order. And... note they can't guarantee the pan pizza's crust won't be burnt because they can't see the bottom of the pizza. I was told the crust would be more crispy on a pan pizza. Dear manager: Crispy isn't burnt. When the bottom is BLACK that is burnt. Side note: the customer service of those at the registers is extremely coutious and polite. Even on a very busy Friday evening. read more

As a small business owner, I take particular notice of how other businesses are run. I love this place! I don't particularly like the other patrons letting their kids run all over the place unsupervised, but hey, it's a pizza joint. What I do love is that they have a great gluten free crust, and the owner figured out how to make their bacon twists as a pizza on the gf crust and now we can't get enough of it. I meant to write this review months ago and realize i didn't after another fantastic experience here. The first time my husband and I came, it was in the early afternoon with our 1 year old. The gentleman (who I think must be the owner) asked which cartoons my son would rather watch on one of the tvs and was so friendly and attentive while we ate there. Brought the pizza to us himself, checked on us, and didn't mind a bit when I'm son was acting as one year olds do. Our second time here was during a lunch buffet where the same gentleman was just as attentive to not only our family, but a couple other tables as well. I was looking for a pizza restaurant that wasn't Chuckys but had the arcade area and a party room and found it here. I've lived in Gilroy three years and sadly this was my first time at this establishment. The pizza was delicious, the staff was awesome and the fact that the party room had a good amount of tv's and the arcade area right outside of it was a parents dream. Our relatives thanked us for introducing them to a good pizza establishment and somewhere they could take the kids that had the arcade and ticket/prize system that pesky mouse has but without the craziness and way better food. Over 3 hour wait for one pizza that showed up luke warm, gooey and gross. I don't know if it's the delivery driver or the restaurant or both. I got a notice the pizza was delivered but it wasn't. I called and they said it will be there in 15 min. About an hour and a half later it showed up. This review is long overdue. Ever since moving to Gilroy, I have missed some pizza places in San Jose. Straw Hat is one of the better pizza places, if not the best in Gilroy after trying quite a few. This includes Round Table location which I've been disappointed in as it's not like the ones in San Jose. The customer service at Straw Hat is pleasant and the pizza are ready for pick up when stated so it's easy in & out for me. I usually order the combo Mt. Everest & Hawaiian pizzas. The ingredients are always fresh and the pizzas have the right balance of flavor & consistency. Straw Hat is my go-to place when I crave pizza. During Covid, they also offer great deals on their pizzas. Mountain Mike would be my 2nd favorite place. read more

I used to really enjoy going into StrawHat pizza, and ordering Pizza, or Chicken wings, and simply sitting down for a Soda or water on a Hot day. The environment is pleasant and was always a place I would frequent. Unfortunately the owner " Raj" has been very nasty and rude to me!! I have always been very friendly to him and I cannot understand why he would treat me with such Disrespect!! I've tried to talk to him on a couple occasions, and he is still disrespectful. I don't know what HIS problem is because I have bought a lot of food from his place over the years..Whether it was ordering a pizza to be delivered to my house, or simply ordering in the restaurant. Last night was the final straw for me! I brought a Date with me to sit down and have something to drink. My Date ordered a Soda, while we were just trying to decide what we're going to have to eat. I went out up to the front to get a water. As soon as "Raj" saw me he gave me a dirty look, and asked me if my Date brought the Soda in, and had NOT bought it there..Like WTH?!! I told him he bought it there..I was offended..Then he asked me if I was going to cop an attitude with him!! OMG!! That is so unprofessional for a business owner to treat a customer with such disrespect and disgust. I went back and told my Date about what had just happened, and we were so Uncomfortable that we were not going to be around that kind of bad energy. We left!! As a Gilroy native...I've been acquainted with this pizza parlor for my entire life. It was super cool & fun to go play in as a kid & it still has the brown pony ride!!! OMG, I loved this thing & would wait impatiently for other kids to get off so I could play cowgirl. ;D The pizza is really good & satisfying for pizza cravings & I love the salad bar, the only one I've seen with sprouts. I love Staw Hat Pizza but will NEVR go back to this location again. I had my daughter's 1st birthday party over there this past weekend and the owner (old man with glasses) is such an ass. I called the night before the party to get some information about the prices and I told him I received a coupon in my email that if I bought a Large pizza I would get a free medium one topping pizza. He said very rudely that they don't honor that coupon and that at their location it's a free small not medium. Whatever, fine. So the day of the party I go to place my order and I show the young girl my coupon on my phone. She told me to hold on and went to talk the the owner. When she got back she said I'm sorry my boss said I can't honor that coupon because it's not printed. Are you kidding me? I'm about to spend $300 on pizza and soda and he won't honor a free small cheese pizza. I asked to speak to him and he was so rude I honestly wanted to forget the whole party and just go next door to Pizza Hut. I asked him if he would honor it since I was spending so much $ and really rudely he just kept saying "NO NO." I tried talking to him but he just kept cutting me off and again said NO. I finally said that I would never have another party here again and he just walked away. What a douche bag! I honestly don't think giving a free small cheese pizza was going to break the company. If he would have answered me in more "business" like manner I would have just let it go. I'm not even upset about the free pizza I AM PISSED that an owner of a company can just treat customers this way. We had a pizza social here for my daughters birthday party tonight. I made reservations a week ahead of time. When we arrived my totally easy going husband went to the counter to place our order and was immediately given major attitude from the (owner???) older man that wears glasses behind the counter. I walked up without knowing he'd been given attitude and finished ordering the pizza. All the while this guy in glasses is acting like I'm the biggest pain in his ass. He was so completely rude. I finally asked him if he was in a hurry or something (the restaurant was empty). I told him that I thought I was being a huge inconvenience to him. He said no and got much nicer, but what an ass! Regarding the pizza........YUCK, YUCK and a triple YUCK. My recommendation, got to Pizza Hut next door. Their stuffed crust pizza is out of this world and they are friendly to boot. By the way, I was laying down about $150.00 for this pizza social. You'd thnk he'd be grateful to have the business on a slow Wednesday evening. Oh, sorry one last complaint.
