The waitress was friendly and patient with me when I needed more time and shows that wonderful southern hospitality. The space feels like a quick diner feel, nothing fancy or in your face. Just a place to sit and eat your home cooked meal. I got the build your own omelet with ham and cheese. I requested for the hash browns to be inside the omelet and top the meal with gravy. Walked in and wasn't greeted. You could tell that there was a shortage of staff because everyone was running around doing everything. Yes, I like my bacon fried crispy, but it was as hard as a rock, pan sausages looked undone, and my order of French toast- some parts of it were cold. Tall, guy maybe the owner/manager was nice but I don't like ppl hovering and looking in my plates like he did. Plus, the vibe was just off. Overall, negative experience. Service has declined due to staff shortages which cause patrons to be ignored. Food quality has declined for unknown reasons. Restaurant dining room has an overall dirty look to it and tables never look like they were wiped down good after the last patrons left. read more

We moved to the area a few months ago, someone recommended eating here. I forgot about it until my drive home today. Here we are having breakfast! It's a pretty busy place, but the service is quick. Didn't wait more than 10 minutes from the time our waiter took our order to receiving our food. Deliciousness! Totally recommend eating here for a hearty breakfast. So came here as the other location was closed - other location is great expected the same here . Sadly not the case. Our server was great but the rest leaves little to be desired! So dirty! And the bald guy which maybe was the manager was so so rude!!! I feel like this place has potential but as it stands right now I'm shocked they passed the health inspection - I was not able to order anything because I couldn't get passed the filth. Service in the place has truly declined. I ordered an omelette with grits and toast. My toast came first 15 minutes later my grits were served and another 5 minutes my omelette was served. Once my food came to the table the rest of my family had to now play the waiting game. The place was a circus and the manager on staff was no help at all. I've been eating at Strawn's for over 60 years. Had the Fried Chicken lunch special a couple of days ago which used to be my favorite. The chicken was slightly warm, very dry, not a very big piece. Rice and gravy were flavorless. Black Eyed Peas needed seasoning. My favorite chocolate pie obviously has a new recipe now because it wasn't very chocolaty or rich. About average. I had all that and sweet tea for lunch, and before tip it was TWENTY-FOUR DOLLARS!! With tip, TWENTY-EIGHT DOLLARS!! For a very average diner lunch...in Bossier City! (Not New York City.) Insane. The black eye peas yesterday were cold for me and my husband. The turkey was not hot that I had. The kitchen looked dirty with dirty rags under the grill on the floor. The men working didn't wear gloves when preparing food. One man had long hair with his hair hanging down. I saw them make a sandwich then stop touch other food then go back to finish the sandwich. We would go here every day of the weekend when we spent a few nights at our grandparents. The biscuits are very nice and fluffy, and the bacon is great as well! In stead we ate next door, but the sweet gal from Strawn's felt so bad for us because we were from out of town and had tried the other location first (which was closed), that she brought us an entire strawberry icebox pie for our party of eight. Um hi, yes please. I LOVE a good diner and this fits the bill to a T. My only regret was that they were sold out of pie. I got the 2 egg, grits and biscuit breakfast. My friend got something similar, but Mom? She got the Wimbledon strawberry pancakes. Her eyes when it arrived to the table!!! The pancakes were light and fluffy and she gobbled every bit of the strawberries and cream up. Service was excellent and we were in/out and back on the road with no problem. Their food at this location is always delicious and filling. Everyone must try the strawberry pie at least once in their life! I've never had to wait for a table since there are so many. You just go in and you can choose where you want to sit! The waitress and waiters are always so kind and have that southern hospitality. It's basically one big room with tables and booths so it may get loud from other people if it's busy. Their menu also has a good variety on breakfast and lunch. read more

This place has that classic diner feel with a black and white checkered floor, where all the waitresses call you "Sugar" and have a quirky sense of humor. It's really like the diners in small towns that you see on TV where everyone in town goes there and the staff knows their names. Despite the gloom outside, the inside was bright and warm with big smiles and greetings from the staff. My parents and I selected a table and were met with a waitress immediately. We ordered a few things. I had simple scrambled eggs, sausage, and hash browns. There wasn't a dedicated menu for people with gluten intolerance/celiac. My mom ordered a Belgian waffle that was crowned with an huge-knob butter, scrambled eggs, and bacon. My dad ordered hash browns, eggs, and bacon. When the food came to the table, I was a bit jealous of my mom's plate...the butter melted over the waffle and pooled into its craters...it was sinful! For the most part, I enjoyed my eggs and sausage. The hash browns looked well-seasoned but were very bland. My mom enjoyed her waffle, but she said it had tasted as if it was missing something...it was still a beautiful sight to me! i never dreamed that Strawn's could ever be less than good but there was nothing good about our last visitation. I've never heard of getting one thing at a time for breakfast. First came the toast, then the egg and sausage and then the bacon and then the hash-browns...all with so much waiting time between. The most disappointment was the strawberry pie...where's the strawberries?? Of course we've been eating it but if you don't like whipping cream, you're in trouble...very little strawberries. For one the two egg to sausage with grits and eggs First batch of toast was completely burnt the eggs were half raw and the grits were way too soggy its very unsanitary one person wearing gloves The rest not at all no bonnets for hair using plastic forks to cook on hot pans mold in certain crevices of the walls and floors i can say that jail eggs and sausages are way better than what I received. I wouldn't be surprised if I got food poisoning. They were cross contaminating. Didnt even see one bit of washed hands what so ever they were sort of rude to the young adults they were more loyal to the elderly people. This place is the place to eat. It's always busy but I'm sorry, I don't get it Walked in with a cook at waitress arguing at the front door. She was telling another lady "I've already had 2 customers walk out". I walked on in. Later figured out it was over a front cook not wearing a mask. No big deal to me. The food was absolutely disgusting. I had French toast, eggs and hash browns. The French toast was not fully cooked, the eggs had steam coming from them, but were extremely cold. The hash browns were tolerable, but still pretty nasty. My husband had fried chicken and he said it was pretty disgusting also. We chose this location over the original bc it was closest to us. 1) walking in you feel your feet sliding on the floor which implies it's greasy and dirty. 2) flies everywhere. 3) as we were seated in the back we had a clear view of this kitchen and it's extremely dirty. 4) those were the saddest cheeseburgers I've ever seen or had in my life. I think some of the reviews on this place are demanding Chéz Fancè food and service at food bank prices. Go in with realistic expectations -- this is a diner in every sense of the word with solid, reasonably priced food. I'm an out of towner who has made this my regular "I had too many free cocktails at the casino last night" breakfast go to. The bacon and breakfast potatoes are cooked in bulk in big piles on the griddle. You might find this off-putting, but it makes the service considerably faster, and in my every day working man's opinion, does not devalue the flavor. The breakfast potatoes seem to have most people in the love 'em or hate 'em camp with very few in the middle. I'm in the love 'em camp. They're unique and something different from your standard hashbrowns. Even on busy weekend mornings, I've never had issue with getting a table, and the service has always been prompt and attentive. I have never experienced some of the disinterest among staff that others have mentioned here. One thing to consider -- this is a diner and it is by no means surgical theater sterile inside. If that sort of thing bothers you, go elsewhere and be sure to visit the local DMV (Department of Manager Verbalization) to see about getting your Karen card renewed. Otherwise, come in, sit down, loosen your belt by a notch, and enjoy some comfort food from days long since passed in most places. read more
