I live near this place and I've seen it a couple of times. The branding is really on point and I always get excited when I see a food truck make it to a restaurant so this was a no brainer for me. Honestly, everything was so delicious. Their menu was super unique and caters to vegetarians and vegans. My two best friends were able to order without modifications, which means a lot to those with dietary restrictions. I got the 2 taco combo and upgraded the mini poutine to a perogy poutine and omg my mind was blown. Definitely the best poutine I've had In Kanata and I would even say it rivals The Great Canadian Poutinerie. My tacos were mango shrimp and fish- both were good but the shrimp was definitely the star of the show. I could eat that forever. Since then I've been back twice and I got a 40% off coupon in my inbox WE LOVE YOU STREATS!

Building has been here for decades. STReats has created a great doover. All is new inside. From the floor up, board style vinyl plank (I think) Seating is cozy. A great mural occupies one wall. Displays and digital equipment for ordering. Staff is knowledgeable and eager to please. Food is tasty and beer is from local Craft Brewers What an experience Tacos, poutine and fish and chips were very good

So this place used to be called Joey's Urban and they had pretty much the same menu, but it's now rebranded to strEATS Kanata Kitchen and the seats inside used to be red and now they are green :) Prices are a little bit higher, but that might actually just be due to inflation. I really liked Joey's Urban, and I still like it now that it's strEATS Kanata Kitchen. strEATS is a chain, with other locations in British Columbia and Alberta. This location is the only one in Ontario. The history is not clear to me, but they are, or at least were, somehow related to the chain Joey's Only, which then became Joey's Seafood. They sell tacos, burritos, fish and chips, and poutine. It's fast food type food. You order at the counter. If you order a fountain drink, they give you a cup and you fill it yourself. You pay at the counter and when the food is ready, they bring it to you. Both my husband and I got the 2 taco combo ($13) which came with a mini poutine and a fountain drink. They are licensed, so my husband also got a beer, which was regularly $7.50 but on sale for $5 on Fridays. I got the Baja Fish taco and the Mango Shrimp taco, and I requested all sauces on the side (because I find most places put on way too much sauce for my liking). I ended up using very little of the sauce, so I'll probably just say "no sauce" next time. The Mango Shrimp taco was excellent. The shrimps were battered and rolled in shredded coconut, then deep-fried. The toppings were mango salsa, more shredded coconut, and lettuce. I loved the different flavours and textures of this taco. I ate this one sauce-less. The Baja Fish taco was also good, but not as exciting as the shrimp one. It was Alaskan Pollock battered and deep-fried and served with pico de gallo and lettuce. Cilantro haters beware, as the pico de gallo contains cilantro! I did add a bit of the chipotle mayo to this taco to give it a bit of a kick. The taco shells are soft and made of wheat, not corn. This makes them a bit sturdier and less likely to fall apart, although I do like the taste of corn tortillas better. The mini poutine was the perfect size, as I got to eat poutine, but not feel completely gross afterwards, lol. There were no squeaky cheese curds, but the melted cheese was gooey and stringy and the gravy was flavourful and not too salty. The fries were good too. I didn't like that the drink fountain didn't have club soda, so I mixed Sprite with some strawberry Fruitopia. It was the first time I had a sugary pop in over 5 years! Lol. My husband got the Buffalo Chicken taco and Mango Shrimp taco. He got his with the sauces on the tacos. Way too much sauce for me! He liked them though. Staff were nice. The place looked clean. It's in a strip mall with lots of free parking. For fast food tacos and greasy poutine, this place was great :)

I went here with my brother to get some fries, pogos (aka corn dogs, I hadn't realized that "pogo"…read moreis an exclusively Canadian term until my American friend, Karen K, pointed it out to me, lol) and hot dogs for my little nieces. I have never had a pogo in my life and have no inclinations to change that. I also don't like hot dogs, so all I tried were the fries and they were great. The fries were a bit sweet (from the type of potatoes they use) and they tasted fresh and not from frozen. I liked the texture, they were not mealy. I like that they are unsalted. I think a large was like $6 or something like that. Pogos and hotdogs are $0.99 each. My older niece who is a picky eater and had never had a pogo before, took one bite and proclaimed "I LOVE POGOS!" Lol. She ate one and a half pogos, which is a lot for her. The breading looked crispy. The hotdogs were tiny and they were steamed. The nieces rejected them so my brother and dad ended up eating them. The place is really popular; we had to stand in line for a long time. Decor is old school diner-like. It reminds me of those casse-croutes that are ubiquitous in Montreal like La Belle Province, Lafleur Restaurants, and Green Stop. Most food here is greasy and fried. If you're trying to eat healthy this is not the place to go. It's not my kind of place, but for what it is, I think it's good. It's in a plaza, so lots of free parking.

I was looking forward to trying this based on the reviews and was disappointed. Ordered the poutine…read moreand it just was underwhelming. The gravy didn't have much flavour wasn't warm enough, so the cheese barely melted. It just kind of sat there and was a bit congealed. Fries were nothing the write home about either. I was expecting a lot better based on the reviews. Maybe it was an off day who knows. The inside needs some updating, as it's kind of dark inside, they barely had any lights on.
