    Burger with waffle fries

After missing our ferry to North Captiva Island, our group (including hungry kids) was tired, cranky, and in serious need of food. We needed something nearby and open--and Street Eatz and Ale fit the bill on a Tuesday around 4:30 PM. The place had a casual, local sports bar vibe and was starting to pick up with after-work traffic. Service was friendly enough, and they were able to seat us quickly, which we appreciated given the situation. Unfortunately, the food was hit-or-miss for us: Chicken Wings - These were a disappointment. They tasted like they were frozen and not properly defrosted. Texture and flavor were both off. I would not recommend. Waffle Fries - Surprisingly good! Hot, crispy, and seasoned well. A highlight of the meal. Burgers - We were told these were a go-to item, but ours came out overcooked and dry. Just okay, nothing special. Caesar Salad with Fish - The salad was soggy and the fish was rubbery, clearly not fresh. Not something I would order again. Water Tip - If you are sensitive to water quality, definitely opt for bottled. The tap water had an odd taste that we could not get past. In fairness, we were grateful to find a place open with space for our group of 10 and I was mostly relieved the kids had something to eat before we caught the next ferry, especially knowing we still had a long unloading process ahead. Would I go out of my way to return? Probably not. But in a pinch, it was a place to regroup and refuel.

We chose Street Eatz and Ale because info shows the chef is Cordon Bleu trained, and hubs loves great food - so off we go to Matlacha Pine Island for lunch. The Blackened Grouper with Dungeonous crab was DELICIOUS. The portion was rather small, but the dish was perfectly prepared. A side of broccoli and truffles parmesean tater tots were the chosen sides. ($28) There were really no plant-based options here. A side of broccoli ($5) and a side of waffle cut fries ($5) had to do the trick. Service was good and bounced between a guy and woman (who offered vegetarian food choices). Water glasses refilled (tap water taste). Ambiance was old beach style - kind of cool. Would we be back? Yes for the hubs.

The food was pretty incredible. We saw ropa vieja on the menu and brisket and didn't think the flavors would be authentic, I mean who can cook both so well and know the right flavors of ropa vieja and smoke a brisket. We were pleasantly surprised. We also ordered tacos that came with rice and beans. We were hesitant but so happy with the ropa vieja so we tried the rice and beans. All the Latin flavors were so on point. And the brisket on our tacos was smoked perfectly and the shrimp tacos were seasoned and cooked perfectly. I feel we tried enough to know the chef is talented and is very well rounded. We thank you for your delicious food and wonderful service. We will definitely be back here. Love from Miami Florida!

Staff were super welcoming, and we sat down at the bar, country music playing, great vibe! We had hoped for the whole deep fried snapper but sadly it was out. We took their advice and ordered the fresh mullet bites for appetizer, which was awesomely fresh! For entree I chose the grouper sandwich and hubby ordered the rib eye which he was not too thrilled with. My sandwich was great, huge piece of deep fried fish served with french fries and hush puppies, probably the best hush puppies I ever had. By the time we left, the bar area was filled up along with few tables in the main dining room. We will definitely be back again. After all, I need to try that whole friend grouper!
