Pepper Crusted Filet Mignon with Lobster Tail
    Mark L.

Our recent dinner at Streetside Seafood in downtown Birmingham was an unforgettable experience! Nestled on Pierce Street, this intimate spot boasts a cozy, nautical-inspired vibe with exposed brick, soft lighting, and a welcoming bar area, perfect for a romantic evening or special night out. It's upscale yet relaxed, making it feel like a hidden treasure in the heart of the city. For my entree, I chose the Pepper Crusted Filet Mignon with Lobster Tail, and it was sheer perfection! The filet was incredibly tender, with a bold pepper crust and rich port wine mushroom demi-glace, served alongside Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. The added lobster tail was succulent and buttery, creating an indulgent surf-and-turf combination that highlighted the freshness and quality of their ingredients. My partner opted for the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes as her main dish, and they were outstanding, packed with sweet, lump crab meat, lightly breaded for a crispy exterior, and served with house-made tartar sauce and fresh sides. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying, without any unnecessary fillers. The service truly made the evening special; our waitress Chris was amazing! She was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu. Her warm personality and efficiency made us feel welcomed and cared for throughout. While prices are on the premium side, the exceptional quality, portions, and overall experience make it well worth it. If you're in Birmingham craving fresh, creative seafood, Streetside Seafood is the place to go. We'll be returning soon!

    Tuna Poke Bowl

This is one of the best seafood restaurants in Birmingham. Their food is always fresh and tasty. During my last visit, I got the tuna poke bowl and it was delightful. I love the complimentary bread, it's served fresh out of the oven and covered in Parmesan. The service is friendly and hospitable. My server made sure my water was always full and she frequently refreshed my wine. The space is on the smaller side but there is plenty of seating. It feels welcoming and cozy with lots of paintings covering the walls. Highly recommend!

So I must say that I did not enjoy the lobster bisque. I did send it back. It was salty and did not have that bisque cream taste., However my partner thought it was salty, but it was able to enjoy it .. Then it seemed like it took a long time our food, but oh my God when the food came, it was well worth the wait. our waitress Julia was very gracious and kind and was able to accommodate all our needs . Everything was delicious from the bread to my beautiful lobster and filet mignon and I had a pasta dish with spinach and shrimp and beef and a cream sauce. I mean I was impressed with the food. It was awesome . ambience was really nice. Brick walls bar was really crowded so people look like they enjoy that space and are regularly there ..very small space and effective .. food was excellent. It made up for time lapse and the lobster bisque .. excellent

Finally writing a review for the best seafood place in Birmingham. Great food and better service. Been coming here every 2 months or so for years. The amazing service (including Jordan) is the reason we return. The staff actually remembers our preferences for drinks and food despite the fact that it's months between our visits.

I can't wait to return! I wanted fresh seafood for my birthday dinner and Streetside Seafood did not disappoint. The complementary bread was served buttery and coated with Parmesan. Our appetizers were outstanding --the oysters (4) were fresh, savory and the perfect blend of cheese, spinach and bacon. The crabcakea were pure crab, no added fluff or bread crumbs--just as they should be! The entrees are portioned well--a full plate of food, so much that we took to-go bags home. My lobster tail was gigantic and cooked perfectly. The paired vegetables were delightful as well, particularly the roasted potatoes. I sampled the Panko crusted chicken and I would be open to ordering this if I was not in a seafood mood--but the seafood was such a great experience, I would barely change what I order upon return. This foodie is a happy customer and new fan.

The food and atmosphere was great. They have an amazing wine list at a reasonable cost. The food was off the chart especially the claims. I was very happy with the meal and serviceS

Chris and Denise are fantastic behind the bar. They organize the crowd, serve everyone - including all of those with "regular" orders and special requests. The food is consistent and fresh. The seafood salad is delicious and a unique offering in these parts!

Dropped in On a busy Saturday night. We did buy the park in downtown for about an hour. Initially got seated at a hightop table across from the bar In a poorly lit area between the bar and dining area. Requested a seating change which they were able to accommodate. Ordered the Bronzino which came as fillets, it was nicely done was not overcooked. Tasted decent enough but the dish was pretty basic. Left this experience feeling like I could've done this at home.

The service and atmosphere is great. We absolutely loved the shrimp cocktail and Oysters Rockefeller. The spicy Buffalo Shrimp is nice and very spicy. The lobster bisque is greet tons on lobster in it.

Overall, very solid selection. Went on a Friday evening and the place was packed and the wait about an hour...and a true hour at that. Unfortunately, the no reservations makes for a long wait. But, I will say, if you're in the mood for some really good seafood, the wait is worth it. As the first stop on our food crawl, the spicy buffalo shrimp and crab cakes were the choices for the night. And the stand out for the night was by far, the spicy buffalo shrimp with the bleu cheese dip. So much flavor. Perfectly cooked. Memorable. Please try it if you haven't. The crab cakes with tartar sauce were tasty as well. For dessert, we had the dark chocolate crème brulee with sea salt. It wasn't my favorite dessert but you could tell it was very high quality ingredients. The chocolate was rich and the sea salt definitely added dimension. The service was good. Our waiter was attentive. The place is just not very big so it seems like it's often busy and crowded. If you've never been, I definitely recommend checking it out.

I've been there several times with my son and always had a good experience. However, today I walked in and it was like nobody saw me and I stood there at the entrance and I stood there. Two gentlemen came in behind me and the girl saw them and she seated them and then she saw me and she said 'are you here to eat' I said, "of course I'll take the seat by the window facing Maple" and she said "OK go ahead and I'll bring you a menu"! She never did. Eventually, the Server who was working that table. She saw me and she was training another person today and she says I'll be right with you! Well, a minute turned into another minute and another minute and several other people came in and then she came to me and said "what are you having?" I said "I don't know. I don't have a menu!" "Oh" she said "She didn't give you a menu!" I said, No, She didn't give me anything"! So the Server and her trainee went and got me a menu and a glass of water, silverware and napkin! After waiting and waiting for my server and her trainee to return and more people to be seated, my server returned and took my order! Lobster bisque and halibut with green beans no potatoes! Then, for more waiting! And I waited and waited and waiting! They brought my lobster bisque! I tell you! They just do not know how to make a lobster bisque in Birmingham thus far! Not up to par. It was orange and not a bit of lobster in it! Nor the smell of lobster was nowhere near it! I don't know what these restaurants think lobster bisque is. Did not even return to remove my bowl or replenish my water! Never saw them again! Then, I waited another long time until they brought out my main course which was pathetic and the sauce with it was so salty that I couldn't even use it so I did sprinkle some lemon on the fish and try to eat it. The best thing about the meal was the green beans! I ate part of the fish, but it was more or less tasteless! Not one time did my server come to check on me to see if everything was OK and as she was bringing me my check, she poured me some more water, that was really good. The only time she checked on me! The water. Did I tip her? Hummm NO! Oh no oh no! I'm a very good tipper for good service! What could improve? Everything!

It came with a sauce that was very good too. Would go back just for those two items. The sushi was good, but not the best I've had. My favorite was probably the shrimp tempura roll. Spicy tuna roll was pretty good as well. Because of how good the ribs/chicken were, this gets a 5 star. The happy hour pricing was very reasonable. Normal pricing a bit rough.

Instead, we waited until nearly 9:00 p.m. During that time, we went up to the hostess stand several times to ask for an update, and every single time we were told that we were "next." Yet we continued to watch numerous other parties get seated ahead of us. As the only white group waiting, it left us feeling like we were being treated differently. I can't say for certain why we were repeatedly passed over, but the experience made us feel unwelcome, especially after watching so many other groups be seated while we were continually told we were next. This is particularly frustrating because this isn't the first time I've felt this way at Market North End. I've continued to come back because the food is genuinely very good, but great food isn't enough to make up for feeling ignored and disrespected as a customer. This is consistent with all of the rumors we have heard about this restaurant being unfair to certain races.
