Craig and Becky could have been judgmental of my novice status, but instead, not only welcomed me and treated me with respect and dignity, but really helped me get what I wanted. Craig guided me to buy a .22 rifle as a starter rifle, to get used to shooting comfortably. Then, when I wanted the Ruger Walnut stock on a rifle that came originally with a composite stock, he and Becky started a month-long journey of finding the stock, realizing the trigger guard was attached to original stock, ordering that, finding out internal pieces didn't fit and grinding the inside of the stock down to fit them, finding the trigger guard well was shaped differently and chiseling that out, finding the screws were too short and getting new ones that fit. It was nothing short of amazing. With this first gun, I wanted something special, and for me that was the Walnut stock - I got even more than that - a beautiful custom rifle which I am so happy with! Now, I'll be taking a rifle course with one of them to help me start my journey! I have rarely received such wonderful customer service nor met such great people. Please allow me to preface this review by saying the following...if you are looking for a quick…read morereview, this isn't it. The next matter is very simple, it's just in multiple "parts". I state my case according to the following adage, If you haven't done anything wrong, you have NOTHING to worry about. I went to Dunham's on South 27th Street ( in Milwaukee ), to look for a specific firearm for ownership. There is a fair to good selection to choose from. Honestly, there is about a 60% chance you WILL find what you want at this particular Dunham's Sports location. If you want something specific , you will either order the item requested through the store, or order the item online and pass delivery to a retailer/ dealer who has a valid FFL, or do what I did.... keep shopping until you find the one you sought for soooo long, like I did. Tim was the gentleman who assisted me with my purchase. He did a fine job. I wish him the best. I asked Tim if we could look at the item I wanted to purchase. He agreed. It took me about two minutes to decide which firearm to purchase. Then it gets easy. First....You pay for your "Background Check". Then you WAIT! Understand that the State has limited resources, and can't get back to Dunham's right away with a decision. Be patient, that's the State of Wisconsin and that Federal Government, not Dunham's. I went back the next day to pick up my firearm. Tim was there and ready to go. A fellow employee was also on hand to "second" the actual transaction. This is company policy...ROLL WITH IT...and again be patient. Tim presented me with a checklist that had to be completed with the sale, it's a great way to make sure all points are covered with the transaction. One other thing, PLEASE understand that Dunham's Senior Management at their Corporate Offices must also approve the sale of any firearm. This is an extra "layer of security". Tim and I went through every point on the checklist. I'm not going to tell you what's on this list, it would discourage cooperation, but the only point to this is true: "If you have done NOTHING wrong, You have nothing to worry about. The last point was to pay for the item, and be escorted to the door where Tim gave me the paperwork and then the firearm. This guy was GREAT, professional, thorough, and accommodating...HOWEVER, don't even ask for shortcuts, bypasses, or freebies.... Everything was done by the numbers, NO laws were broken. I received GREAT service and purchased a GREAT firearm at a GREAT price. The service was GREAT too. Thanks Tim. Thanks to Dunham's.... Well Done!!!

This store is big and has a wide selection of items and, opposite to other stores specialized in…read moresports, I personally feel that I can take my time browsing and shopping around as the store is not particularly busy. The staff is very friendly and they also take their time at checkout and will chat with you for as long as you'd like. The prices are reasonable and they have a rewards program. That door alarm at the front kept going off like crazy when they left. I imagine if these were black kids, the cops would have been there in a minute I should know. I was just there last week looking for golf clubs. White male worker came to "spy". Played the "pretend to straighten inventory" card. White lady had to ask him 3 times to help her. Which by the way do not exist. After nearly a year of searching, scouring the internet for parts and even fabricating parts. They took a firearm that hasn't functioned for nearly 60 years and made it work again. I cannot thank them enough. They have a Silencerco kiosk in shop making NFA transfers easier. They are the only shop that I know of in the area with such a device. For now their full auto selection is lacking but that will change. Their suppressor selection is great. They admitted to profiling me after requested information on a Micro Draco. They lied and said said they don't offer the gun, but they do. They then admitted that they profiled me on being a woman as most women "buy this for their men". (Straw purchase mentioned below) I should note that I did use my phone while inside to talk to my husband regarding their stock- they did ask me to not use my phone inside. I shut off my phone and left. The manager was sure to note that it was rude for my one star review I made a decision about their store while only being in there for five minutes, but he himself profiled me in even less time than that and decided I was a dangerous customer. The adult man said I wouldn't let him speak, which I didn't because he continued to misquote the words I said during the connection I had while inside the store yesterday. He then hung up on me. Their response to both my and my husbands reviews was that we were criminals and were looking trying to make a straw purchase. Women beware.
