We tried this place for the first time last week. It is spacious and really cool. Ware-house look but they make it very welcoming with flowers on the table etc. You can become a member and have your own mug there, they are hanging on the wall waiting your return. The bartender was so nice. We brought our kids and they had board games to play and root beer for them, even put them in little tasting cups for them. Very sweet, will defs be back. Only downside, the no A/C people have mentioned. The huge fan doesn't do much. We went when it was really hot and the you can smell the hops which is a plus or minus depending on the person! read more

A dear friend took me here one afternoon. They're located in the back of a warehouse-esk looking area but the inside was magnificently beautiful. Lots of seating and very popular. There's also a foosball table for some drunken battling between friends. The bartender was awesome and made sure our mugs were never empty. I'm definitely a fan of their sour beer but I really would much rather have the Honey Stout from Rabbits Foot Meadery. With that said, I would still reccommend coming here! If you like their drinks, join their club for $100/yr and get a pint free each time you come in. You'd probably make back your $100 after 8 visits or so! read more

I usually come here and Hermitage back to back. This facility is a little less inviting as the seating is well within the brewery and you cannot see the outside as easily as others. However, they have some strong beers that are tasty and they usually have a food truck out front. They also have a fun trivia night that gets a bit rowdy. I do want to go on record and say that some people definitely cheat during trivia, which defeats the entire fun of it. read more

Strike Brewing is a brewery started with premise of 'session beers'. Fresh beer thats lower in alcohol but still has great flavor. Strike as it is now has moved into their place and began brewing independently. Great local brewery! They have seasonal beers and everything is reasonably priced. A flight of 6 beers (4oz) is $8. They will also fill growlers! Everything I tried was nicely brewed. The staff is friendly and you can even talk to the brewmaster if they are around. This place has a warehouse feel and the atmosphere is great for an after work crowd. The Brown is one of the best out there, hands down. The Called Up Pale Ale and the Colossus of Clout Red are also awesome. I definitely was loving the Double IPA, good hoppiness but it didn't over power my taste buds. Or maybe it's just because I have become used to to really hoppy beers? Nonetheless, tasty. We had our alumni function here before the football game. Our bartender/host was very friendly. The beers are okay, pretty standard. I had an amber ale, and it was pretty heavy. If I drink beer, I prefer a sour or something with some fruit notes. There is a nice seating area, and you can see the operations from there. Nice hoppy scents. I love the smell of breweries, but am more picky on the taste. Overall worth a trip! read more

This review reflects my experience and not the beer: Came here for my birthday. I was excited about ping-pong, friends, and beer. Sadly even though I was next I was served last. Probably because the customers were regulars with their own mugs. I waited 20 minutes then decided to leave. The poor bartender struggled and noted her "bosses" were at the pingpong table sitting and drinking beer. I left without having a beer because there was no seating (people kept entering and being served first). I cannot believe that the owners would sit and drink beer when there is limited seating available and their bartender is struggling. On a sweltering day, when the asphalt melts your flip-flops into the soles of your feet, Strike Brewing welcomes you into its cool inner sanctum letting you chill among the beer vats while nursing an icy barley pop. I tried the Lucky Bullet Belgian, Kurt calls it "wheaty bubble gum" which must be good because I liked it. He indulged himself by quaffing a Screaming Hand Imperial Ale with "floral hops and mild bitter" which sounded shady to me but he says it's good. Not as slick as the Hermitage down the road, Striker is more like the comfortable back room of a warehouse where everyone unwinds after a long day.Old board games tucked into crates against the wall, a formal boardroom table up-cycled into a ping pong table (v cool) and dogs tucked comfortably under chairs makes for a pleasant place to relax and get out of the sun. read more

I came here on a Sunday evening and they had a food truck outside and trivia night going on. It wasn't too crowded so it was a good time to come. They allow dogs on leash, and they have a whole table full of board games as well as large jenga and connect four. As for the beers, they had a lot of IPAs, some lighter beers, and a couple of dark, which is a good selection. I would definitely come back and recommend this brewery to friends! read more

A bit of a downer! Small place with also a small selection. There's only 8 beers on tap, of which only 1-2 are their own beers. I'm not sure how this place will operate during the summer, as there's no AC. They have a huge industrial fan blowing, but the place can get really muggy still. They don't sell food, but they have $1 snacks. They also have a bunch of souvenirs for purchase. There's also a ping pong table and some other board/card games. Nice place to stop by if you're doing a brewery hop, but wouldn't be a place to frequent. read more

Freaking awesome that this brewery exists just around the corner from my mom's place. Going here I felt very at home. Across the street from the Comcast building on 10th. Around the corner from the Fairgrounds. Located inside a warehouse. Strike is a baseball influenced brewery. They serve solid beers on tap, fill up growlers and also sell bottles of beer. They have games and a ping pong table for you to play. All around a brewery I'll be going back to. read more

Came here last night finally to try this place out. Not a big beer fan but I'm open to trying new beers as well as exploring San Jose for all it has to offer. The parking lot itself is a bit scary but there was plenty of people so that was reassuring. Walking into the warehouse you will be greeting with a tow of kegs. There is a mix of 6-8 benches and high tables for seating. There are about 8 beers on tap and they even have bottles and cans for purchase. The girl working was very informative and did not rush me one bit. I got to try three samples before I committed to my beer if choice. I settled for the golden ale by el diamante. The bf got a flight with el diamante, rally hat, Santa Cruz blonde ale, and screaming hand imperial red ale. Love the ambiance and the people who were present during the visit. They have two flat screen for entertainment. The warehouse is super simple and gets the job done. I like that the brewery is pretty much open and you can see how they make it. Local taco trucks and food trucks present daily. Check their calendar to see who will be there. read more

Came here to have some drinks as a part of my boyfriend's party bus brewery beer tour with a group of about 25 ppl. They were having a firefighter event so there were two food trucks outside! They have fast workers who bus the tables super quickly. Bartenders are nice and work fast! Love itttttt. They have lots of bench seating inside and they also have restrooms. Watch out where you lean though! Couple of my friends leaned up against some walls and were COVERED in white powdery dust that looked like baby powder! It got EVERYWHERE. Yay for self serve water! too! Love it when places have that so you don't have to keep bugging the bartender for water. Other than that, I can see myself coming here again. read more

You know that feeling in the summer when you pop off the cap of a ice cold beer and take that first sip? The part when the beer tastes so crisp and refreshing down your throat and starts to flow throughout your body. That's the feeling I get every sip off of the beers on tap here at Strike. When the BF and I made a trip to Portland we were so amazed how there were so many micro breweries there and that Sam Jose was lacking in that. Strike is one of those establishments where you'd come after a long day and can enjoy a nice cold beer with good vibes all around. My first visit here I thought I was going to be the only mom who people would judge bringing a baby to a brewery. The moment I walked in, I saw a dad with his little one strapped to his chest! Whew! He knew what I was thinking and instantly said "don't worry you're not the only one with a kid here". That put me to ease and now every once in a while I bring my little one here while dad has a drink. They also allow dogs here! It's nice to know there are dog friendly establishments. They do not serve food here with the exception of some snack from TJ's. Outside food is allowed! Which is another big plus! Some of my favorite beers you have to try are: Blonde ale - for those light beer drinkers Red ale- if you want to get drunk off of one but also has a nice crisp taste Amber ale (seasonal)- a little heavy but good taste read more

Nice brewery location, a lot like the Hermitage Location. You can see everything they use to brew and package beer. It has a high ceiling so was it was freezing in there. They have their regular beers on tap, with at least one beer being a special brew (not bottled or canned). read more

Oh, how I wanted to love this place. It's no secret that San Jose is underserved for breweries but I was hoping that what we lacked in quantity, we could make up for in quality. This place does not help with the latter. Located a hop, skip and a jump from Hermitage and Santa Clara Valley and in as nearly scary of an industrial block as Hermitage, it could be an important endpoint of the emerging San Jose beer triangle. But Strike just does not have it together. We tried their IPA, Extra Pale, Nitro Red, and Porter (now called Brown, I guess) and all were sadly mediocre...lacking in flavor, and what little flavor they had was not on point. The Double IPA had more flavor, but its flavor was equally not on point. The exception is the Big Wall Imperial Stout, that one was very good. The bartenders were courteous but did not look very happy to be working there at all. The Facebook page had advertised a food truck that day that was nowhere to be seen. I asked the bartenders and from their disinterested reply they didn't have much of an idea what I was talking about (i.e. whether it had already come and left.) Also, while their branding doesn't factor into my rating...I'm glad they laid off that weird splotchy bird corpse logo. They've been going for a baseball theme now, although not my cup of tea it's a vast improvement. They get credit where credit is due, and that's for being able to open a brewery in a city that sorely needs more (first star) and for their Big Wall Imperial Stout (second star). But I'm trying to find reasons to give them more credit, and I can think of none. Hopefully they will improve in time. read more

If you like warm beer this is the place for you. Been here a few times now but unfortunately each time has become a progressively worse experience. Gave it another shot today and likely my last. Previous time here had a friend who mentioned her just-poured beer was warm. When she brought it up she was treated like she just insulted the server, no offer of another pour was offered, and the situation just got worse from there. THIS time it was apparently my turn and when I took my first sip it seemed like it was already 5 minutes warm. I asked what temp the kegs are kept at and was told 40 degrees but they've been having trouble with it. Server then poured herself a taste to check it and said "well it's not going to have ice crystals in it or anything". I swear it was like deja vu from the last visit. My last time here for sure. Apparently the customer isn't as important to them as conserving their beer and serving it at the proper temperature. A shame because their beer, 10 degrees colder, would have been just right. read more

Went here with some friends for my birthday. It was a Sunday and they had trivia night. The trivia was much more difficult than I thought it would be, but overall, it was so fun to work with my friends to come up with the correct answers. It was also free to play and winners get free beer. The beers are good and the beertenders were absolutely amazingly nice and friendly. They were so great and attentive. They even had free snacks to give out. Everyone there was friendly and the environment was very laid back. Only thing I wish they had was an outdoor area to also drink at. This was the first stop of breweries to visit in SJ. When we got there it was pretty busy. They were serving oysters that night as well. I opted to try the 6 beer sampler. The beers were not bad, but seemed to taste on the lighter side or not as flavorful. I like IPAs and the IPA seemed to taste a bit off for me. The atmosphere here is great (look of the place) but the workers here aren't as friendly as some of the other local SJ breweries that I've attended. I might have to give this place a try again, we'll see. read more

Tried their flight with the Rally Hat pale ale (3.75 of 5), Strong Arm English Ale (4 /5), Triple Play triple IPA ( 3.25/5), and lastly Pinch Hit Porter (3.5/5). I dropped by this place during an event so parking was a bit harder and the line for the event was pretty long. Luckily, they separated the regular beer line from the Girl Scout Cookie pairing event. I tried their stout which was pretty good, the tasting room itself is a bit small but it was fine. It was kind of packed due to the event but I expect that it would be more manageable during a regular day. My stout was 6 dollars which was a fair price. They also had a foozball table and a ping pong table there but it was a bit too crowded to play. All in all, I think it's a cool spot and would most likely visit it again. read more
