Great cuts, but super long wait times - even on a Wednesday afternoon. They do a good job of mentally taking note of who comes in in what order, but as it was our first time we were so confused by the process. We wound up waiting close to an hour before it was my son's turn. The cut was excellent, though. Would definitely go again and try to find a more convenient time. Expect to waiiiiit. read more

So I'm a Queens girl with thick, bushy hair. I've been buzzing it off since 2006. Sometimes I grow my hair and then it will get to a certain length and I want it off. When it's buzzed off, it stands out. I recently got a pixie cut but wanted it buzzed again. I went to Long Island to visit my boyfriend for a week. He lives in Glen Cove. The neighborhood appears diverse, no lacking in barbershops. However they have an antiquated mindset because I walked into about four of them and asked the price to buzz my head and there was shock on their face. Like okay lame, you clearly never buzzed a girl's head. I didn't get that response from Matt at Strong Island styles. He was so friendly, cool and a damn skilled barber for someone so young. This place is NOT covid friendly. Most of the people in there are not wearing masks including the barbers. Comments were made by my barber about my appearance and lots of personal questions were asked that made me uncomfortable. During my haircut the barber removed my mask without asking and then refused to let me put it back on once he was finished with my side burns. Very unprofessional and crowded environment. They give good cuts but I'm taking my business elsewhere and recommend you do the same. read more

I went to Guido who is one of the top barbers in the place. they are very clean neat and Covid friendly. He gives me the best haircut ever. He takes his time, doesn't rush me, talks to me, make me feel like I'm home in the chair. The whole staff is very friendly Dana Brian Matt Guido. I highly recommend everyone go in there it's the best barbershop on Long Island. The price is not expensive at all and you get way better service than what you pay for. I go every week for my weekly haircut. I don't drive 45 mins for a haircut just for anyone. read more

Great Barbershop! When you walk in you'll notice a huge crowd waiting to get their cuts, which is a great sign. All the barbers are very good, so you can literally get your cut from anyone and be satisfied. The only issues I have are not with the actual business or employees, one of them is location. Parking can be a challenge. And lastly they are not open on Sundays read more

Strong island is the only REAL men's barber shop that I know of on the North Shore of Nassau. Always a great cut! The fact that they take a little extra time at the end to straight razor all your edges really adds to them being the best. I've been a patron for 10 years and hope that I never have to find another barber ever again. There can be a wait sometimes but I think that just speaks to the quality cut you're gonna get! HORRIBLE PLACE - DO NOT TAKE YOUR TODDLERS THERE & ESPECIALLY TO DEVON. We arrived & everyone seemed nice & attentive, they told us whoever of the 3 barbers are done first then my 3.5 year old son will be next......well that never happened people came in after us, got their haircuts & we were completely ignored. All they said was you will be next. There is no log or order its pretty chaotic. So fast forward 2.5 hours later they finally let us know that ANOTHER barber by the name of Devon will be cutting my sons hair instead but she needs to go eat something first & THEN she will be with us....we waited about another 15 minutes. My 3.5 year old son at this point is restless I mean considering he is a toddler they don't always stay still. So she begins to cut his hair (with scissors) & not even 5 minutes into the haircut I notice my son scratching his ear. We figured it was the hair falling & possibly tickling his ear until I notice blood on the back of his neck and Devon standing there with a paper towel holding his hear. I asked her what happened & mind you I was watching the whole time. She said oh its just a small cut. I see a lot of blood on the paper towel she is holding so I sais excuse me I need to see. Well when I pull of the already bloody paper towel she CUT A PIECE OF SKIN FROM HIS EAR OFF. It took everything I had to not create a scene but she had absolutely not words & the owner Brian seemed completely unfazed by the incompetency of his "barber". He never once asked for our number to follow up since I immediately called my sons doctor. Complete unprofessionalism, they make you wait hours & if it happened to my 3.5 yr old son it can happen to yours. Learn how to cut toddler hair & except that they are children and at that age they might not be still. The following week we took him to another place to fix THE MESS DEVON made and they were patient, polite & did an amazing job. I will not recommend Strong Island Styles to ANYONE & I will be posting this to various sites. Train your barbers better! read more

If you want your hair cut by this place make an appointment for 3 to 4 months from now. This place is extremely busy for an ok haircut. Their attitude is appalling thinking they are the best in the land especially the girl with long hair that works there as if she was rewarding us as customers for cutting the customers hair. I have called and have gone to that place about 4 times with my 3 year old son at different times of the day weekdays and weekends. First they tell me that it is a 2 hour wait for a barbershop....they told me that 2 times the others were one hour. Needless to say it's going to be a month and my child still has not had his haircut. Until today I called to speak to the manager and he was too busy to speak to me to call back in 2 hrs. This place is good if you don't mind waiting 3 hours for a pony haircut;not being even shown the common courtesy of being told what your position in the queue for service is;the owner being involved in selectively serving customers who match his thought processes ,whatever that is. These guys are great - first met them when two of them volunteered at a fundraiser to shave heads for kids cancer research, then came in today for a clean-up. They definitely do a great job and I was was happy with my haircut. I didn't really like that my back was toward the mirror the whole time. The barber said he couldn't work any other way. He stayed on one side of me and spun me around, instead of coming to the other side of me. I couldn't see what what going on for 99% of the time.
