Since becoming a massage licensed in Washington and Oregon, I have come to know Ryan as a highly skilled body worker,teacher and mentor and have traded services with him on a regular basis. I have experienced chronic lower back pain and injuries to my left leg result in debilitating reduction in range of motion in my left knee and hip and I have worked with many new LMTs in training and seasoned professionals to address these conditions. Ryan Kaufman has done the best work, the most impactful and long lasting intervention of any LMT or PT that I have ever worked with. His work is conscious, attentive to my comfort level, creative and collaborative and VERY EFFECTIVE. Here to recommend Ryan as an excellent massage therapist. I have to admit I was a little nervous at first to have a man massage me but he came highly recommended so I gave it a chance. He was very professional and really careful with how he maneuvered the cover sheet so I didn't feel exposed even when he was massaging my hip. So, about the massage... I have this one spot on my hip that is usually very sensitive when massaged and will end up feeling kind of painful for several minutes after a therapist is done working on the area - I'm not sure what he did, whether he was able to just work around that spot (without knowing exactly where it is because I only know it when someone pushes on it) or if it was just different techniques he was using, but I didn't have that issue during or after the massage, which was great!! Also, he seemed very ... aware? There was one point when he was massaging the side of my leg and one spot felt pretty tender. I was thinking about saying something, but before I did he moved right to that spot and started working on it, like he could tell without me moving or saying anything that it needed more attention. I walked into Structural Healing with a 2 day headache and walked out feeling amazing. Ryan is a truly gifted massage therapist with intuitive hands and a technique of his own. His massage was deep; he definitely got into the trouble areas but unlike many other deep tissue massages I've had, there was no pain or discomfort. He used varying amounts of pressure and used my head, neck, and shoulders to stretch out all of my tight muscles. He even worked on other areas like my jaw which really, really helped. The experience was also mentally refreshing, his work and the room were so relaxing that I was able to completely turn my brain off and just be in the moment. I also fell asleep many, many times even though I wasn't at all tired when I walked in. Afterwards, I felt rejuvenated and my headache was completely gone. The facility is great. It's a gorgeous old house and his treatment room is calming, comfortable, and clean. On-streat parking only but it wasn't an issue; plenty of open spots to park. Ryan is THE BEST. I had two massages with him for sore hips and he was wonderful. Truth be told, I'm not picky with massages- I like them all- BUT he was definitely noticeably talented and skilled beyond comparison and helped my injury. Plus he gave me stretches to do daily that are invaluable. If I do them, no more soreness! My husband however, is VERY PICKY and high maintenance when it comes to massage therapy. So much that I feel bad for the therapist that has to massage him... He got a package deal at massage envy last year only to be disappointed every single time. So I took him to Ryan for his birthday this year. He was so thankful and impressed by his massage that he had happy tears in his eyes. The hubbs is a welder so he is always sore and is in weird positions all day at work- he needs regular massage. Ryan listened and focused on his needs. Ryan has the hands of a greek god, seriously! I work an average of 70+ hours a week and the one thing I make sure to do for myself every month is go see Ryan at Structural Healing Massage. I am so lucky to have found Ryan. After a week of pretty severe pain in my right arm, it decided to stop working all together. Initially I was very nervous to receive a massage because any movement created shooting pains down my arm, and the last thing I wanted was anyone to touch it. I heard very good things about Ryan and his approach. I decided to set up an appointment with him. When I was greeted by Ryan at his office, he was able to asses my situation very quickly and by the time he was done with my treatment, I had regained full movement of my arm. I cannot say enough about Ryan and how much he knows about the human body. What a great Masseuse gentle but strong hands that make you melt with what seams no effort at all. I'm not much about people touching me nor never had a massage done. But when someone suggested me to Jenny cuz they loved what she did I thought why not give it a shot. Jenny is the best. I was so happy when she could open back up. I get a 90 minute massage, heated table, hot rocks last time (OMG) and soft relaxing music. I like deep tissue but Jenny is always good to ask about the pressure and she always takes time to visit a bit about how your body is feeling and what spots might need attention. She has such a peaceful presence I relax when I walk in the door. There are times I'm sure I've fallen asleep ... Very accommodating. Woke up first day of my vacation with acute neck pain. They fit me in for an emergent appointment. Jenny was diligent in finding the source of the acute pain and provided excellent care. I have had many massages in the past year for chronic pain and this massage was the best I have experienced by far.
