It is hard to put into words how much Dr. Kelly helped our dog, Colby. We first found her after Colby had luxating patella surgery in 2022. We spent the next three months doing rehab at home with Dr. Kelly, and soon enough, Colby was as good as new. Unfortunately, a few months later, we discovered he had two ruptured discs and needed immediate surgery. The surgery did not go as planned, and Colby lost the use of his front legs. Miraculously, Dr. Kelly worked with us to beat the odds and enabled Colby not only to walk again without restrictions but also to become stronger than ever. Dr. Kelly's holistic approach ensures your pet is getting everything they need to thrive. She uses cutting-edge methods and is always researching the latest advancements to benefit animals. We continued to work with Dr. Kelly in person until she moved. We then transitioned to virtual sessions, which were also incredibly beneficial for Colby and us. Dr. Kelly was excellent at showing us how to do the exercises so that we could continue them with Colby between sessions. It is worth also noting that right a few months before Dr Kelly moved, our dog went blind. Of course that didn't stop her or our dog (who was very treat motivated) from doing their sessions. Post first appointment review My 2 year old dog started to run a bit funny and hasn't gone away completely for about 4 months. Our dog is elderly, and he developed a degenerative disease called Geriatric-Onset Laryngeal Paralysis, Polyneuropathy, or GOLPP. At first he was choking, and then he also started to experience quick and significant muscle loss in his hind quarters that made him really weak, causing him to fall. He needed physical therapy, fast. Dr. Fishman has been working with Chester for about 4 months now, and she's made a really big difference to his quality of life. We were so happy that she didn't have just one or two things that she could do to help extend our sweet old friend's life - she actually had many things to do that helped maintain his strength and made him more comfortable, so that he could really enjoy his final months with us. Over this time she has been able to give us many different exercises that target his affected muscles and keep him able to walk for awhile longer. She also does electrostimulation, and manual manipulation and stimulation - all of which also help him manage the stairs in our home, where all the action is on the second floor. The choking that came with Chester's disease was especially upsetting to us and our dog, and Dr. Fishman also had a solution for us there. She used acupuncture around his throat that our boy responded to really well. Before the acupuncture started, the choking was bad enough that our dog would shake for an hour after an incident, and it really frightened us. After Dr. Fishman used the acupuncture, though, the choking stopped almost entirely. She also used acupuncture on his hindquarters combines with electrostimulation, which I have to assume has prolonged Chester's time with us. And because the disease made Chester lick his legs in a futile attempt to make them feel better, he also developed a big, deep wound in a hind leg. Dr. Fishman used laser therapy for that, and had many useful suggestions for how we could treat the wound and keep it from getting worse, as well as for how to keep our dog from making it worse, too. Our boy can never recover from his disease, but we are deeply grateful to Dr. Fishman for her kind, gentle, well-informed work with him. It is especially comforting to have her here at our home, where she developed a fitness program that was actually do-able in our space. And it's been great not having the challenge of trying to load and unload our big, weak dog into our SUV each week - which I probably couldn't have done on my own anyway. She's punctual, thoughtful, and friendly. We highly recommend her. And we're very grateful to her for giving us the gift of time with our dog. read more

Dr. Kelly Fishman is a spectacularly kind person, has a unique gift with animals, is a conscientious round-the-clock health provider, and I have more faith in her judgment than anyone I know. My dog Bramble could not have lived to 14, certainly not in the great comfort she did, without Kelly. This should be a difficult review for me to write because I'm still grieving (Bramble passed away a few months ago, of an unrelated stroke)--but it actually makes me happy, reminding me how radically Bramble's quality of life improved after starting therapy and how Kelly diligently and creatively pulled out every single stop for my dog's care. I 100% know that Strut gave us an extra year together. Bramble had degenerative Wobbler Syndrome and, when Sage Center referred me to Kelly, Bramble had extremely weak muscle mass: even holding her own head up was difficult. Her body was essentially a limp rag, she had a stubborn very raw and painful skin infection, and we were beginning difficult conversations about her quality of life. I came to Strut skeptical, after having tried other physical therapists (& assorted, as my brother called them, 'hope peddlers'). But the improvement was astounding. Kelly cured her skin infection by prescribing a different diet, as well as taught me how to treat and prevent pressure sores--so that Bramble spent the rest of her life without any lesions or pressure sores anywhere on her body. The neurologist who next examined Bramble couldn't believe her mobility had been neurologically impaired as long as it had; because she'd never seen a dog with advanced Wobbler's entirely without sores, and because her examination discerned that Bramble was in no pain at all. First Kelly treated her neck muscles, so she became able to sit upright all day on her own, head high, looking around alert. Then after many months she became able to hold her own weight on her back legs, and got strong enough to putter around in a cart. Most importantly, she wagged her tail furiously during all her appointments. Loving and caring for an aging pet is taxing both emotionally and physically, but it's further complicated by the psychological distress of having to make critical decisions, which you don't always fully understand, for a living being you can't consult with language. Having Kelly in the picture completely eliminated that second layer of stress for me: she's a straight shooter when you need to hear something, but she will do absolutely everything possible to extend your pet's lifespan and happiness. Besides being an astoundingly gifted physical therapist-- Kelly is expert at pain management, explained my pet's experience and medical conditions in (actionable) terms I understood, became the point person who helped me coordinate a stressful labyrinth of specialists, helped me make medical tradeoffs, and more than once caught new issues before they snowballed. She took out a catheter at home one time, so that Bramble could leave the cold ER early and finish the rest of her recovery in her favorite spot on my bed. During COVID, when going to the clinic became harder, Kelly liaised with my internist and a testing lab in order to procure all Bramble's lab samples from home. And after the extra joyous year enabled by Kelly's care, when the end finally did come, Bramble was in no pain--only tired--and Kelly picked fresh wildflowers for her funeral. If the price for love is worry, hiring Kelly made that price infinitely easier to bear--because I knew (and could see) that we pulled out every stop. I recommend her heartily and without reservation. Bayou, our 14 year old, 80 lb golden had a vestibular syndrome event (unexplained loss of balance that incapacitates the dog). I knew that a friend with a 11 y.o., physically challenged Old English Sheepdog was being helped by a "rehabilitation specialist" who was as nice as she was effective. Dr Kelly was amazing in the treatments she administered to Bayou and the rehab exercises that she demonstrated for me to do with Bayou at least once a day. Bayou celebrated his 15th birthday with crooked limbs and a limp that comes and goes. Dr Kelly continues to support him with pain management and an occasional checkup (@ reasonable rates for in-home care). Dr Fishman is worth the investment. We worked with Dr Kelly Fishman for nearly a year to rehabilitate our dog, Ozzie. Dr Fishman is an incredibly knowledgeable and talented PT and mobility vet. Lyle, my dear three-year old dachshund mix, ruptured a disc six months ago and from one day to the next was paralyzed from the waist down. Rather than let her go we opted for surgery, but even though that was as successful as it could be, it was unclear if she would be able to walk again. In fact, for the first two post-surgery weeks, Lyle remained mostly immobile; we even had to express her bladder because she couldn't void herself and turn her over in her crate so she wouldn't get bed sores. Six months to the day after her surgery Lyle is not only walking again, she is running almost as fast as she did pre-trauma. People who know her call her a "miracle dog" but they are not quite right on that point. She's not a miracle so much as the result of the wise guidance, knowledge and herculean efforts of Dr. Kelly Fishman, who came to our house three times a week for months with all her equipment and not only gave Lyle massages, laser therapy, vibrating plate therapy, and acupuncture, but also built obstacle courses for and did all manner of other exercises with her. Each week I was provided a beautifully illustrated rehab program to do with Lyle on the days she wasn't here, and if I had any questions about it I could call or write and Dr. Fishman would promptly answer. She was also available at any time to provide advice if there was a setback, and she always knew exactly how to deal with it. Yes, it took and still takes hard work to get and keep Lyle at this level, but she was a (mostly) compliant patient who desperately wanted to chase squirrels again. Equally importantly, she simply loves Dr. Fishman, for whom she would do almost anything. You'd think she'd try to run away and hide when Kelly comes, because often she is made to do things that are hard or unpleasant for her. On the contrary, when I tell her "Kelly's coming!", she runs to the door and won't budge until Kelly appears. Then she's so excited she can barely contain herself. Lyle sees Dr. Fishman now twice a week, as she still has some deficits that we'd like her to overcome. Stairs, for example, still prove a challenge for her, and she will likely always have set-backs of one kind or another because she does have degenerative disc disease. But to have Lyle come this far is such a joy and blessing, and it is wholly due to Dr. Kelly Fishman. We can't say enough wonderful things about her. It is she more than Lyle who is the miracle. read more

I did a consult with Dr. Fishman for my dog, Brinkley, since he is officially a senior. I noticed he was having some more issues jumping up on the couch and I wanted to be proactive as he enters his golden years. Dr. Fishman was incredibly knowledgeable about senior dogs and had a lot of good information to share about what supplements I could start him on now for any slight arthritis. She also taught me some exercises I could do with him at home to help keep his mobility healthy.
