On our annual trip to VT, we hopped over the border to NH and stopped by Stuart and John's sugar house. What a cute spot! It's extremely family friendly with solid breakfast options that will make anyone in your family happy. It took a little bit to be taken care of when we first walked in, but after that the service was great! We had blueberry pancakes with their fresh maple syrup that's warmed prior to bringing it out to the table! My husband got a fried chicken and fries special (they also have lunch food) and the fries were perfectly crispy and delicious. After breakfast we wandered down to the calf barn where you can visit with a bunch of baby cows! Super adorable spot and worth a visit

Driving through on a Sunday afternoon had a hankering for chocolate milkshake and lo and behold we took a gamble on a sign off of route 12. As soon as I saw the maple sugaring house I knew I had to try the maple soft serve. Mmmm. Excellent cone! Excellent ice cream! Soft and creamy texture. Totally worth it.

OMG, fresh hot pancakes (with various fruit toppings or chocolate chips), farm fresh eggs, coffee, fresh maple syrup and waffles. Cheap, farm fresh and good! Come here for the maple syrup not the meal. This place is only open seasonally (its mostly locals), closing for winter around the end of Nov. You can buy maple syrup products in amazing different containers, (ie. statue of liberty maple syrup, house shaped or with trees drawn on the bottle) in bulk. They also sell high grade, gallon sized maple for only $50. This is a great place for kids, they offer free coloring crayons, for $1.75 you can buy a coloring book about mapling trees and they have a special kids menu.

WOW!!!! A late morning ride with the Boyz & Girlz, Jaidyn was our Server she was Efficient, Prompt, Courteous and AADORABLE!!!! The FOOD was AAWESOME!!! Portion HUGE & Prices CHEAP! The whole staff was hustling around like busy bees! Not one Frown in the place! Everyone around was served promptly, the coffee flowed fluidly, and on top of it THEY MAKE AND HAVE THERE OWN ICE CREAM!!! Do not walk RUN to this establishment! Ask for Jaidyn, tell her James W sent you...And The Ghost Hand Puppet.

Straight from the maple tree right on to my plate. Start with breakfast, end with a tour of how to make maple syrup. Or "sirup" if you're French Canadian. Yum! Yum! Yum! (Hi. Go for a side of the homemade sausage patties with your pancakes. Bye.) These guys are proud of what they do. John explained that they use a machine that was intended to distill water to remove water content from the sugar syrup (reverse osmosis) BEFORE they start to boil it. Takes it from a 43:1 ratio to 7:1. *Insert science-y things here, etc.* Awesome-family-run-first-class-farm-quality. Four stars due to wonky paper plates and plastic silverware only.

What you'd hope for in an updated rustic old Vermont building. 2. The service has been excellent on both visits, with the caveat that breakfast is busy and the food took a long time to arrive. 3. Breakfast was solid. Not transcendent but solid eggs and toast and home fries and coffee and everybody seemed happy. Room for improvement 1. For Putney Vermont - get some decent vegan and vegetarian options. 2. The veggie burger was bean based, mushie old-school 70's style. Fell apart as soon as you picked it up. 3. The cheeseburger was good. It's just that for $18 you could show a little more attention to detail. A greenish slice of winter tomato. A single leaf of iceberg lettuce. 2 ringlets off an onion slice. And no pickle. 4. The fries that came with it had to be sent back to be cooked longer. And there was a big puddle of oil on the plate once I slid the par-cooked fries onto a side dish. The server was lovely about it and they came back fast and cooked through. But my guess is the oil wasn't hot enough hence the grease puddle. 5. The chicken orzo soup was meh. I don't try it. Brought it home for sick family member. And sorry but my personal pet peeve - the pre-calculated tip options were 20,22,25% and all calculated on top of the sales tax. Understand that it has gotten VERY expensive to go out for a burger for your average local. So putting a little more attention into it would be greatly appreciated. All the best, and thank you.
