We haven't been there regularly since covid. We've been underwhelmed every time since. We thought we would give them another chance today. I don't know if it's new owners or the kitchen staff. It took an hour and a half to get a chicken sandwich and a salad at lunchtime. We were only one of four tables! When it finally arrived the fries were cold and so was the sandwich. After a nice drive, and putting the correct street address in but the wrong town, lol we went to Saxtons River first and ended up at a house haha, we finally found this place! Beer battered onion rings, a must! Burgers , excellent! French onion soup, yum! Cannolis, omg....you get 2 freshly filled ones! Delicious ! What can you say about a place where in addition to great food, you get to help children whose lives may be saved by your purchase? Spencer's Place is such a place. The restaurant is named after a child with a congenital heart defect whose treatment and eventual heart transplant was paid in no small part, through this business, the creation of a philanthropic local family. The young man, now in high school, works part- time there. The amazing staff members know him. And still, the profits still benefit children care. On a second level, the little town of Walpole is an experience. A gorgeous neoclassical and early New England town with spectacular architecture. Going there is a history and architecture lesson. As to the restaurant, besides the superb and friendly service, the food matches the service. We went there for lunch and I had a superb cranberry Caesar salad with grilled chicken and my spouse had a burger that was also very tasty. The excellent experience was a part of the experience visiting this beautiful town. Worth a visit. read more

Great hidden gem, not far off the highway (91). This is the true place that the locals go. Great homey feel, warm and clean. We had chicken parm special, fried chicken sandwich, and fish and chips. All were tremendous. I will definitely come again. read more

Was in town for a wedding and needed a place to grab dinner the night before. Found this place and yelp and gave it a shot. Menu wasn't anything fancy, but the food was outstanding. One of the best burgers I had in a long time. Whole table got a different burger and all were happy with their orders. Got a few of the seasonal cocktails (autumn) and they were delicious too. Honestly I wasn't expecting much going in, but I was pleasantly surprised. Not sure the next time I will be in the area, but I will definitely bring making a pit stop here if I am. read more

I had a hamburger with Guinness cheddar and the applewood smoked bacon. It was amazing, and the fries were superb. My boyfriend had pasta with chicken and broccoli... his meal was less impressive, as it was heavy but flavorless in my opinion. Cute place. We are outside. The food is good and the atmosphere is nice; they take basic literally. It is more of a place to go if you are hungry and don't have anyplace else. The table setup is so basic that you have to ask for things like salt, pepper, water, etc. Don't expect things like cracker and cheese or rolls before your meal. What a blessing to discover this treasure! Wife and I found it while cat sitting for our daughter in Vermont. Warm and charming decor, yet bright and cheery. We both got the taco salad for lunch--OMG! So fresh and tasty, more beef than we could eat (almost), and in a delicious edible bowl. I had brunch here and loved it! My waitress, I believe her name was Ally, was fantastic. Ally seemed to be running the show and doing a darn good job at it! (I come from a food service background and know a great server when I see one!) She was right on the ball and the customer service was fantastic. This is the type of place the locals go and all know each other, I love the sense of community I felt. The experience was very welcoming and felt comfortable. I had the veggie scramble, delicious! The home fries were perfect and everything was hot and fresh. The mimosa was the cherry on top! I highly recommend stopping in, you won't regret it. I can't say whether the food was any good bc when my friend and I showed up we were ignored. When we finally got staff attention she just pointed outside to the seating area and no one ever came with menus--it wasn't that busy so why this indifference to customers? Spencer's Place takes hospitality to heart, which makes for a thoroughly pleasant dining experience. It has a refined, casually modern style, yet it is not the least bit pretentious. We like how the tables are well spaced and not on top of each other. It's kept immaculately clean and attractively furnished. The music is kept low in the background, so that one doesn't have to shout to converse. The location is in a lovely setting, right in downtown Walpole, the most charming town in New Hampshire. The service is always good and never intrusive. Last, but not least, the American-style food is cooked to order, delicious, and served with a smile. The French onion soup and the French fries are outstanding. The fish tacos never disappoint and are so good, they'll haunt you. The menu offers something for everyone. We are particularly impressed with the distinct flavors of the salad bar, with its generous, top-notch ingredients and freshness.  We love Spencer's Place and find it worth the special trip from a nearby town to return there again and again. read more

What's not to like about this place? The newly upgraded interior is spotless, airy and open. The waitstaff is pleasant and prompt with friendly smiles, willing to please. Now we get to the food! I was a bit skeptical at first thinking that it would be just another mediocre eating establishment but oh how wrong I was! To date, we've had lunch, twice, and I have opted for the sunny side burger and fries which is simply amazing. My wife had the BLT and classic burger. The Sunny Side burger is topped with a fried egg, bacon and cheese.(you'll want to use a fork and knife for this one) I also asked for and was happily provided gravy and some cheddar melted on my fries. The onion rings are some of the best that we have ever tasted and come in a healthy portion. You will not leave Spencer's Place feeling unsatisfied or with an empty wallet. Great portion sizes at a more than reasonable price! We can't wait to try the breakfast and dinner options too. We checked out the menu and it looks amazing. I am glad to say that we have found a new favorite eatery that is close to home. read more

We ate there on a Saturday afternoon, inside. Very little business. However, it was taking a long time to get our taco salads, and our waitress had disappeared. Also, I was waiting for a beer that wasn't coming. So, I asked someone else what was taking so long, and immediately got an attitude. Our waitress finally showed up, and the other woman brought my beer, still with "the attitude." Anyway, our little meal was great, but the service, not so much. The over price $11.00 whiskey drink that including ice was about half a cup that sucked, than the super unimpressive mediocre at best French onion soup, next the boneless garlic parm wings... which was more like wayyyy over cooked cheep chicken tenders... which we had to ask for a dipping Sauce with, and than the broccoli Alfredo.... #1 worst Alfredo I've ever had in my life. More like Mac and cheese than anything ...bland as it could get with no flavor. Over all was not impressed with anything here. The food was so delicious.The burger was so big and juicy and tender, the french fries were fabulous. The salad bar was fantastic. Blue cheese dressing and the house dressing exquisite. Everything so fresh. Even the lemonade was the best. The prices were so reasonable, the place was very clean and nicely decorated and the service was excellent.
