I also paid up front for my root canal, being told that my insurance might not cover everything. A month after my root canal, my insurance company finished processing the claim and what I was expected to pay for the procedure was about $300 less than I had paid the dentist. I contacted the office several times before I was finally able to speak to the famed Diane. She informed me that the dentist had done a procedure that they do not bill to the insurance company since the insurance company will not pay for it. Oddly enough, this procedure costs $295, so I wouldn't be receiving any refund for an overpayment. I pointed out that the difference between what I paid them and what my insurance said I owed was $309, not $295, so Diane sarcastically asked me if I wanted the $14.20 that was the difference. I was referred to Dr. Chassen by my dentist who had back to back patients and could not do the root canal. It was the day before Thanksgiving, 2020, and I was in so much pain that nothing was helping, meds, Anbesol, nothing. I contacted the office and was treated with kindness and urgency. I was told to come in asap. I was there in 20 min. Dr. Chassen performed a root canal and I did not feel a thing. He numbed me really well and all I felt was a little pressure here and there, but that was it. He literally cured me before the tooth became infected. Avoid these "money blood suckers" like the plague. They do not care about their customers. They only want money. Which is horrible! Even in a damn pandemic, they think customers should pay for services that they never received. Consequently, I originally had an excellent office experience getting a root canal treatment. I paid (cold hard) cash - about $1,100 and was given a little bit discount. Which was still expensive when I found that the procedure could be performed $200 cheaper at a comparable dentist. But the dentist was knowledgeable and took his time, explain things, made me feel comfortable so I said, what the heck. My good experience at this office all changed after 6 months when the complete service was done. I get a phone call ( one day) from the office manager Diana who tells me that they made "a huge mistake" and that the "free consultation" I had received was not actually free at all. I would have to pay an additional $74 bucks. Unless they would be forced to report me to their credit collections. I responded why would I have to pay for their mistake, incompetence and/ or false advertising. Telling customers they would get a free consultation- when they did not offer this service. She replies, oh well nothing is REALLY free in life. Is it? I should know that. Which is atrocious for her say and to have such "a negative attitude" with once loyal & paying customers. Especially 6 months after the procedure. When I thought and was told by her that my bill was fully paid. So I guess I will be filling a report with the attorney general office and blasting them on social media for their fraudulent and bad business practices. Let's see how they like this review. I was recommended to Dr. Chassen through my general dentist because I was in need of a root canal re-treatment. My previous dentist had botched my original root canal, leaving part of the root in the tooth cavity, and not drilling deep enough to accommodate the post and crown that was put in place. After wearing Invisalign for about a year, my teeth obviously shifted, causing the faulty crown to completely come out...post and all! Hence the need for a re-do. Dr. Chassen's office is clean and comfortable and Diane and Bruni at the front desk are warm, kind and professional. I had a great experience at this office. The receptionists were VERY welcoming and helpful. There was no wait time, I was taken to be seen right away. The nurse was so kind and helpful as well. When I first met with Dr. Chassen, he explained everything to me about what would be done. From beginning to end, two root canals were done in less than an hour! I felt IMMEDIATE relief. I had a root canal re-done by Dr. Chassen a couple of days ago and my experience from start to finish was nothing but great! I was super nervous since my last root canal took place at another practice which wasn't a good experience but Dr. Chassen and his staff made me feel comfortable and were very informative about what they were going to do / what is going to happen. I was actually amazed at how fast the procedure took and that he did most of the procedure by himself! What I found amusing was that during my appointment, they were training a new dental assistant (I'm assuming) and while they were taking my x-rays, the trainee was told not to wait too long taking out the instrument from my mouth because it's uncomfortable. I went to Dr. Chassen approximately 5 years ago for a root canal on my one of my molars. I believe the cost was approximately $2,000. I thought everything was OK until I went to a regular dentist for the crown. The regular dentist informed me that the file of Dr. Chassen's drill was broken in one of the tooth's canals. Dr. Chassen never told me about it. I went back and was seen by Dr. Weiss who said everything looked OK and not to worry. The dentist said it may or may never cause me a problem. Well, for the last two weeks, I was in agony and could hardly bite down without pain. I went to a great endodontist in Westchester who had to do an apicoectomy. I had to spend another $2000 for the procedure. I am really, really angry that Dr. Chassen never told me about the file broken in my tooth and that I had to spend close to $4,000 because of him. My regular dentist referred me to Dr. Chassen. They were very quick to take my money for a root canal. I thought they were giving me a courteous nitrous treatment. Over priced. Fast forward a few months and I am still having significant pain in the tooth where Dr. Chasen had performed the root canal. I gave them the benefit of doubt by calling them to have them look at it and even the opportunity to perhaps look at another tooth. When he told me that I "wouldn't feel a thing" I was a bit skeptical (I had a really bad root canal experience a few years ago with another dentist and it was anything but painless), but he was right! I didn't even feel the injection and now 2 weeks after the procedure, I'm still pain-free. His staff is great- they were able to accommodate me when I was running late due to being stuck in traffic. It's very unfortunate that the staff at this facility ruins what could be a wonderful experience. They are very unknowledgeable, and not very friendly. Everyone at this place looks miserable. When you walk into the "nice looking" office you get the feel that it's inviting.. however the moment you meet the faces of the staff.. it doesn't look too nice and inviting after all. From the assistant who took my xrays who was not very friendly, very rough and just looked extremely miserable. To the staff that handles the patient billing, who tried to overcharge me by almost $400 because she did not understand the insurance coverage. What a waste of my time! Hopefully the Dr's at this facility will reconsider their employees and maybe they would not lose patients. I wonder if the Dr's even know how their office is run.
