The doctor got very angry and said she couldn't continue and stormed out. She was not happy with me from the beginning when I told her we would not be using the nitrous oxide. She showed no patience or kindness. This is a pediatric dentist and I expect a higher level of care. It was like a factory, they had so many patients scheduled at the same time. While I knew Dr. Fern was warm and caring with her patients, I had no idea how incredible she really is until I took my seven year old son in for a tooth sealant procedure. He has a history of reflux and an easy gag reflex, but he has always done well at the dentist so I didn't anticipate any problems with getting his molars sealed. However, he had a lot of trouble with the specialized mouth piece required to keep teeth dry during treatment. Dr. Fern was simply amazing with him. She never lost her patience with him, empathized with his issues, and tried multiple tactics to make the experience more comfortable for him. From resizing the mouthpiece numerous times, to scenting her gloves and dental items with edible essential oils, (my son said the smell of her gloves made him nauseous) she worked with him trying different things to make him more comfortable for over 2 hours! She really went above and beyond to try to make it as good of an experience for him as possible. I don't want my children fear medical care, and I was truly impressed with Dr. Fern's treatment of my son. I have never seen this kind of attention and care at any practice, dental or otherwise. It is a rare thing to find a doctor that this willing to take extra time with patients having difficulty with treatment, and to retain their patience throughout the ordeal. I was already a fan of Dr. Fern, but after that visit I am even more profoundly grateful to have found her for my family. Best of all, my son left her office having had a positive experience, and is not scared or reluctant to go back to her office again. What more could a parent ask for?

Dr. Narang, my…read moreregular dentist, was instrumental in getting this whole implant idea started and worked in partnership with Dr. Simpson in seeing it through. For a little over a year now, I've been going to Dr Simpson to have a synthetic tooth installed in my lower, right jaw. I had heard about such procedures before, but it always seemed rather extreme...until I started having chronic problems with one tooth, which culminated in a serious root infection. My dentist (Dr. Narang) suggested I have that tooth out and replace it with an implant. So I thought, OK, now is a good time to try an implant. My dentist recommended Dr. Simpson (an oral surgeon). Dr. Simpson checked the situation out and determined that I would be a good candidate for an implant. Dr. Simpson clearly explained the steps involved in the process. The process to have an implant is rather lengthy. The first step was to extract the old (original) tooth. That went without issue...and without pain. A good start! In fact, I experienced no pain during the entire process. [Note: the process will be slightly different for each person, depending on their circumstances.] After the tooth was removed, we had to wait some time (months) for the jaw to heal and be ready for the next step. Then the hole in my jaw was filled with bone fragments (don't ask where from), which would meld in with my jawbone in preparation for the next step. More waiting... Then the base for the implant was placed into my jaw. [Screwed in, actually, using what looked like a small ratchet wrench.] More waiting... Then, when everything looked good, I was sent back to my dentist to have the crown put on my new tooth stem and fastened into the base. More waiting... Inspected by both my dentist and Dr. Simpson and given the thumbs-up. My new tooth is now in place and feels right at home. No further problems!
