Greeted by Roberto and immediately seated at 5:15 on a Tuesday. Got busier later but still had some seating availability so my friend and I were able to visit for about 3 hours! We ordered the Mahi Mahi and Cannelloni specials and shared tastings. Since I don't care much for cheese dishes, my Mahi Mahi was by far better with some scallops and shrimp tossed in a white wine sauce.. yummy!! Thinking of my leftovers right now ;) A bottle of San Lorenzo Montepulciano d Abruzzo complimented our meal while we chatted. The pianist Redoblado was amazing.. at least for me. I'm not one to really hone in on songs but could actually identify most of the tunes he played like Sound of Music "favorite things" and "pretty woman" etc. Definitely a relaxing evening with great company. Made even better by a delicious meal and great service. And an ambiance where you can still hear the piano tunes even through conversations . Will be back Roberto!

We got there a little before 11 and waited a bit outside for them to open but the staff was kind enough to let us in earlier than opening time. We were quickly seated and we placed our orders. I had the pollo alla parmagiana, my sister had the lasagna, her wife had the spaghetti with meat sauce and my husband had the calzone. The calzone was huge but he thoroughly enjoyed the flavors. I enjoyed my dish. It was flavorful and delicious. Their serving size in general was quite large even for lunch. Needless to say, none of us finished our plates but we all came out stuffed. The place had plenty of tables, spaced well so don't have to feel like you're on top of each other. It is located in a nice area with shopping and other restaurants nearby. Service was friendly and our waiter made sure to keep our waters refilled. Since we drove for quite some time before lunch, we had to use the facilities when we got to the restaurant and happy to report that it was comfortable and clean. Overall, it was a good experience and the food was excellent. I am glad I picked this place to take my sister to. It gave a good first in 26 years impression, especially since I'm unfamiliar with the area!

There were so many yummy adorable looking restaurants to choose from in Chapel HIll, but Yelp and…read morefriends recommended the Lantern so I made a reservation several weeks before our trip there for my daughter and I. It was a short walk from our lovely hotel (the Carolina Inn), but started raining when we first walked out the door so we called an uber which was a very short ride. We were seated right after arriving and I had a nice glass of wine and my daughter a diet coke a few minutes later. The menu looked like a sharing type of meal so we opted for: - pork & chive dumplings: yum - spring rolls: tasty, but my stomach (as always) regretted the fried food the next day - bento box: the hit of the meal - shaking beef: i thought pretty good, but my daughter wasn't a huge fan The service was good and the food was brought out at the perfect pace. While I'm sure their dessert is yummy we opted to walk down Franklin street and enjoy some Ben & Jerry's after dinner since the weather had cleared up.

On a recent visit, our family started off with an delicious order of Pork & Chive Dumplings, while I enjoyed a perfectly prepared Old Fashioned from the bar. For our entrees, we shared plates of tender Shaking Beef tasty Sticky Rice and succulent Pork Ribs, all paired with a fabulous Pinot from the restaurant's impressive selection. Service was outstanding throughout our visit, and Lantern's softly lit, intimate setting makes it the perfect spot for a date night or just to escape the Carolina heat. Everything about our visit was wonderful, and the prices were more than reasonable for a meal of this caliber. An amazing find in Chapel Hill!
