I found them through their Instagram account and loved what I saw. I asked about an appointment and was happy to find out that they charge about $100 less than I've been paying for my hair, and was excited to see what Miriam would do for me. Then I read all of the reviews on here, including the ones that aren't recommended and got a little nervous. I ultimately decided the pics speak for themselves and went for it. First tip, if your appointment is at lunchtime, get there early to find parking! I ultimately found a spot in the Cafe Brazil lot and bought a latte so I wouldn't get towed. Miriam was completely understanding about my being 20 minutes late and didn't seem put off at all (though I did let her know once I knew I wasn't going to make it). She greeted me by name at the door and started consulting what I wanted from my color (to bring my hair closer to its natural color without going too dark). When we were chatting, I mentioned where I parked and she looked panicked and said "Take off your cape and go move your car, even though you bought something they will still tow you." Good lookin' out, girl. Luckily a space in front of the shop had opened up and she set a cone out to reserve it for me. The atmosphere is really laid back and cool. It is not a pristine Uptown salon spa; it feels more like it could be a girly tattoo shop at night and the stylists use tool chests for storage. There are sweet vintage details like a beautiful turquoise painted armoire and chandelier juxtaposed with a beautiful old school tattoo art mural. The floors are painted concrete and yes, like one negative review said, there are stains on their tools but that doesn't mean they aren't hygienic. The feel isn't "I'm getting pampered" so much as "my cousin does hair and she's badass at it." But there's still mimosas if you want one... Miriam does hair a little different than I've ever had it done. She asked me about what cut I wanted and then proceeded to chop off seemingly random chunks of (dry) hair. Then she proceeded with the color. When that was done, she started drying my hair and I wondered if what she had done before was what she considered a hair cut (again, negative reviews in the back of my mind). Never fear, she just dry cuts, which I haven't had done in a long time but I actually prefer it. When all was said in done, I couldn't be happier with the results. The only reason this isn't a 5 star rating is because I did leave with several small dye stains on my face and neck that I didn't notice until I got home. WARNING!!! The lights on their wall says it all!! "ART IS ANYTHING YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH!!" Don't let her get away with it!! I booked 3 appointments one for my daughter, son and I. Miriam did mine and my son's hair. I requested a cut and bayalage color. Apparently, she uses Olaplex - she stated that this product would NOT damage my hair because she doesn't use a dryer to speed up the process. We were there all day from 11:30 - 4:30pm. They were very busy and Miriam went back and forth between clients. First of all, I asked for my hair-cut to be below my shoulder and resulted above my shoulders, which I can live with - it'll grow back. After the color treatment, Miriam and her assistant both blow-dried my hair, then Miriam curled and styled it (fyi - more heat!) and who knows what products she put in it. It looked good when I left, she took pictures. (see below). She told me not to wash it so I didn't wash it till Monday morning. This is when I notice, my hair was completely FRIED!! She pretty much DESTROYED my healthy hair. I was in tears! Not to mention what she charged me!! ($338 just for my hair). My hair is so chemically damaged and this is not what I paid for, I'm not happy AT ALL! I sent her a text message stating: ME: I've been very disappointed for a few days. I've been contemplating saying anything at all but... I am completely unsatisfied with the results. My hair is totally fried, hardly any change in color and much shorter than I requested. The part I'm most upset about is I paid a pretty penny to end up with damaged hair. My hair didn't feel so great Sunday but I thought it was because I had not washed it and I had hairspray and other stuff in it. After washing my hair Monday morning and paid more attention to my scalp, like you suggested. I realized it was very damaged, when I tried to brush it or run my fingers through it, my hair tangled and very dull shine. I don't know what can be done to fix it. I never give such low reviews and I truly wanted to like this place, so much that I gave it four chances, but each time something negative happened - either a bad haircut or the stylist was signicantly late. Later, I noticed that Yelp has 22 unrecommended reviews, many of which are negative and also described the same poor service (staff showing up late) that I received. If I had seen those reviews instead of all the positive ones that are being recommended, I wouldn't have kept going after the first two times. 1st time I went for a haircut, it was with Andrea. I brought in 4 pictures on my phone from when a previous stylist had cut my hair to show her what I wanted. Andrea briefly glanced at the first picture and handed the phone back to me, saying something like, "Ok, I got it," but I was like, "Ok, but there are others from other angles." I noticed when I got home that she had cut shorter layers than I wanted on one side of my hair, so I called her and told her about it and told her I wanted it done differently next time. A couple of days later, after doing my own styling, I noticed that my hair was uneven - it was significantly shorter on one site. At this point I contacted the owner, Miriam, who offered to fix my hair for me, which I thought was really nice. 2nd visit - I show up on a Monday morning for Miriam to fix my hair. The shop was closed, but I figured it was because she had fit me in at an odd time. I waited a few minutes, called Miriam, who told me she was running late and would be there soon. It was about 20-30 minutes before she arrived. I was annoyed, but let it go because I figured this was an unusual scheduled for her. The haircut fix was great and she didn't charge me. 3rd visit - Scheduled another appointment with Miriam at 10am on another day. I texted her at 10am to let her know I was walking over, and she responded to say that she'd be there at 10:30. Now I was really annoyed because I was already there and there wasn't much for me to do but just wait 30 minutes. Still had a good haircut though. 4th visit - This time, Miriam texted me an hour prior to my appointment to reschedule it for half an hour later (at 5:30 instead of 5:00), so I appreciated that if she is going to be late, at least she let me know in advance so I could do something else with my time. I showed up at 5:30, the other staff told me she was on her way, so I waited. Eventually, someone else washed me hair, and Miriam texted me at 5:48 to tell me that she was pulling up, so once again, she was 20+ minutes late. She did a rush job cutting my hair that day, and I later noticed that it was uneven once again. But at this point, I had decided not to return and have found another hair stylist elsewhere. This could be a great place, if the staff would be more professional and come for their appointments on time. It's unacceptable to be 20-30 minutes late to every single appointment. Like a lot of you, I found this spot on Instagram. The first time I visited was alright. I didn't quite like the cut (took off wayyyyy to much and rounded the back) but the color looked good, similar the photo I came in with. Cool. So when it came time for a refresh, I called Miriam and got an appointment 2 weeks out, color only. This second experience was quite a bit different than the first. She went back & forth between another client and myself, seemingly upset / not friendly in the least bit, and in the end, pretty much destroyed my hair. OMG it was so fried. I'm not a hair expert, but bleach was sitting on my hair while she basically ignored me until her other client was at a stopping point. But I was told that she was using Olaplex in the process (for an additional charge) and that would totally minimize the damage. Please. I went home practically crying about how my hair looked and felt. 4 hours later, mind you. To me, that's a long time. Oh and let's mention the cost. $300. Plus tip. This disaster wasn't cheap. That same week, I visited another salon for advice because my hair was so damaged, almost had a green tinge to it, and was just breaking off in my hairbrush like crazy. It literally felt like straw. Their only advice was to basically color my hair back to my natural color & let it rest for the next few months. Ugh. This place sucks. Nuff said you get shitty service from the owner. Don't believe me just call for an appointment and have her (Miriam) not show, then try to make it your fault. I made an appointment with Miriam at like 9 in the morning on a Monday. Keep in mind they are actually closed on Mondays and i had to find out by a third party website bc they don't have they're hours on their website or yelp. Monday comes, I arrive early as I always do for appointments and I see no cars in site. Not in any parking lot. I wait while this creepy guy comes up to me and gets to start conversation. The gate was closed and locked with no-one inside. I knock. Wait. Knock. Wait. Call. Wait. Call. Wait. 9:30 comes around and I decide to go home. I was so in denial that she hasn't showed up that I came in on Tuesday for my appointment thinking she made a mistake scheduling me in a day they were closed and maybe meant next available day. I walk in and ask for Miriam the girl days she just left the but can call her for me. I talk to her and tell her that I was at the salon yesterday, she says that she was there, I wasn't. She asked me if I had saw the lights in the salon on and I replied with yes, so she fired back with. Well then I was there... I got the hair cut deal on groupon and went to have a "trim" done by Miriam... my hair was about half way down my back (very long) but by the time she finished i had a MULLET!!! short layers shoulder length in the front and my long hair still down my back (uncut)... Summary: Took niece for a haircut and color as a graduation gift. She wanted a pixie cut and purple color (kids these days!). Miriam, who I believe is the owner, provided the service. I personally get my haircut elsewhere but I came here as a recommendation and since this is the "hip" place to get a cut I figured why not. We arrive at our scheduled appointment time (5pm) only to find closed doors. I called several times with no answer, finally get a call back 30 minutes later that she was there. Very unprofessional to be late, especially with a first time client. The vibe in this place is not very welcoming, no chit chat, no smiles, nothing that I'm used to seeing in other salons I've been to. I tried sparking conversation but didn't seem to go too far. Find that very strange from an "owner" not to want to get to know clients who could be potential for future business. So i figured,(my mistake) ok so I have short hair, no color correction, my hair it's not course at all and it's a very light tone so there is no way it's going to on the top end of her price range! Boy was I wrong!!! She bleached my hair twice (not sure why, Maybe just so she could justify the her fees because that was the only thing she could come up with when I asked why so much) so it fried my hair keep in mind I had virgen hair and my natural hair color was very light ( even she told me herself I had a very light color) I was supposed to be getting a blonde balayage and I specifically told her I did not want silver I just wanted as blonde as possible. My hair is so patchy and uneven it is very silver and in the back of my head I have bleach marks, not blended at all. I've had blonde before with longer hair, color was blonde perfectly blended all over AMAZING job and I paid 200$ less than what I paid Miriam. The poor job she did in my hair is not worth the 500$ I paid!!! I would never recommend her and I would have never gone to her if I would've know that's how much she was going to charge me!!! This is about an incident that happened when I visited this place last year to inquire for services and prices. For some reason, when I opened the door to go in, a dog sprinted out. One of the stylists yelled at me demanding me to go get the dog. In confusion, I had to run after it and carry it back. She was rude to me even when I brought the dog back (which I shouldn't have) First of all, why is there a dog in a hair salon without a proper gate set up or trained not to run. Second, it could have turned out to be a dangerous situation and the dog is not my responsibility. Third, the stylist demanded me, a client coming in to the salon very angrily to go get HER dog that ran away. I cannot stand rude people, and dog owners that do not take responsibility of their dogs for the dog and other people's sake. Anyways I don't know who that stylist was and I'm sure this hair salon has other people working in it that might be great people but this was my experience. I haven't had my hair cut here, but my girlfriend did. Let me tell you guys, I don't care how much of a discount that place gives. My girlfriend had a really nice cut and color before going, and she got one of those coupons online for this salon. I told her not to go to an unknown salon, because her regular stylist does a great job every time, but she wanted to save a buck and support a local OC shop. All I can tell you is that she is ashamed of being seen in public, and she is super upset about it. She really looks terrible. I made an appointment, in person, with Miriam on a Saturday, for the following Monday at 3:30 PM. My mother had to take off work early to take me for this back-to-school haircut. I am usually very anxious about getting my hair cut, but I have had it done once from here before and it was pretty nice. So I decided to come back... I walked in with my mom, excited and ready at 3:30 PM, and only two ladies were there. One asked me if I had an appointment, and the other must've been on break or something because she was basically asleep in her chair. We ended up waiting until a little after 4:00 PM while one of the ladies offered to call M to see where she was. But we were just waiting there for nothing. It was as if the other women couldn't care less about us not being helped. I walked out because I was very upset. Miriam called a couple minutes later to say she had "car trouble". When I got home I went on yelp to read these "filtered reviews" only to find out this problem is not so uncommon there. Needless to say, I won't be going back there ever again. read more

Okay, so I went to Miriam for the first time yesterday and I too tend to get a lot of anxiety because my hair is really curly and most hair stylist seem to always cut off way more than I ask them to and I go home upset. But I saw she had a great review from a fellow curly head so I decided to try her out and let me tell you I got the BEST cut and color and I didn't have to break the bank either! First off, when I walked into the studio I had a few different ideas for my cut and she worked with me to figure out what would work best for my hair type and face shape. For the color, I wasn't sure so I just told her I love red tents and let the her decide. I am so glad I did! The color is perfect for my style and skin tone. For the cut though I had a lot more to say and she listened to every little idea/concern I had. I have never had a stylist work with me so well to create the look I wanted. I went really short and she could tell I was a little nervous so she took baby steps and made sure I was satisfied the whole way through. I made an appointment for 6:00 PM with Erica for a haircut a few months ago and I still get compliments today from people I haven't seen in awhile. First off the stuio itself is very artsy and lively. There were clients everywhere, children running around and good music playing in the background. I was greeted right away by my name and told that Erica would be with me shortly. In walks this perky young thing, I can already tell I'm going to like her. What I love the most about her was how she sat down and talked about my needs and hair before doing anything. I'm fairly low maintenance and consider blow drying my hair to be a chore but wanted something different and funky. My fabulous new do only cost me $40 and it took less than an hour. I cannot believe what I was just informed. There is a "salon policy" of no extra people or kids in the salon. I'm sorry but as a mother and a human being I think this is ludicrous. You can't be a good business and expect your clients to dump their kids off to better convenience yourself. I don't have any family in the area and I take my child everywhere with me. I was just coming here for an updo and makeup for an event. I get my hair cut at Salon Olines where they love my daughter. They have no problem and in face enjoy her being there. Worst experience of my life!! I went with Miriam and I told her I wanted to go lighter (keep in mind my hair is light and damaged) so I knew it wouldn't be possible so she told me I should wait and I said ok. And she told me what she could do is put a toner, I asked what that was and she explained saying it would make my hair warmer.... So I let her cuz I trusted her with my hair as a "professional" she supposed to be... But she didn't listen to anything I said cuz I left the salon with black hair!! Like wtf?! I said I wanted to go lighter not darker!!! She cut my hair super short when I told her I wanted to keep the length of my hair the way it was!! I seriously got out of there crying my eyes out!! Im changing my rating a little bit because after a few washes, the color on top looks rather nice. The bottom part is still has some gray hints but the color looks much better than it did the first few days. Found this place on Instagram because I wanted balayage highlights. Miriam was not the warmest person over the phone but I decided to still give this place a try. I was ignored when I walked in (a few min early) for my appointment, finally had a 30 second consultation (where she didn't really listen), and then the nightmare began. The process done to color your hair is barbaric. They tease your whole head and then apply color and foils. Even though I was explicit in asking for BALAYAGE which is the subtle "painting" on of the color to make it look more natural. This is not was was done on my hair. I was also very specific in making sure that the color did not turn out brassy/orangey looking (I'm a brunette and know this sometimes happens if you don't have the experience). This is exactly how it turned out. When my hair was washed out it was yellow. Literrally highlighter yellow. When Miriam say the look on my face, instead of assuring me that she still needed to apply the toner, she rolled her eyes at me and was visibly annoyed. Then comes the worst part, trying to untangle the full head of teased hair!!! I'm sorry but if I am going in for you to take care of my tresses, I don't expect for you to damage my hair by yanking at it for almost an hour with a brush (not even a comb)!!! I was almost in tears at the pain and she had the audacity to tell me that I was really "tender headed". I should have taken pictures of the scabs on my head after this experience and the amount of hair on the brush after combing it out. Had my hair come out looking AMAZING, maybe I wouldn't care as much, but it didn't. I ended up paying about the same as I would have had I gone to my usual hair dresser Leighanne and would have saved my scalp & hair from abuse. BEWARE!!! read more

I booked an apt with Lauren to get my already beautiful ombré touched up. She said she was going to leave the bleach on for 15 mins. 20 mins later, I reminded her of the time (she was trying to manage 2 clients at once) and she told me I was fine. 2 hours later she was applying color to my roots- with the bleach still in!!!! Just total that for you, I had bleach on my hair for 2.5 hours! I should have just left. By the time she rinsed me my hair was white and falling apart like a dried up rubber band. When I asked her about it, she said it was normal... The owner even agreed with her!! She brushed, not combed my wet over processed hair, and then blow dried, continuously reassuring me, as I cried in the chair. The owner the said she was going to "texturize my hair" which meant she was going to cut out all the blonde that they had just put in.This however, has not stopped it from falling out!! They immediately asked for my credit card, and then shoved me out the door at 11:20 pm. I called the next day to say my hair was still falling out and to ask for a refund- denied!!! A partial refund to pay for my hair to be fixed- denied!! She said that all blonde hair has breakage and we all shed. I will be telling everyone I know to not go near this salon- or ANY of the stylist in it! If you want to se pictures of the "art" they did on my hair I will be happy to share as warning. read more

I don't know if even one star is sufficient for the experience I got today. I went to this place based on other Yelp reviews and was looking forward to it. Andrea couldn't cut my hair even though I showed her how it should look, front and back. Horrible!!! Do not recommend. She fried my healthy hair. I was trying to grow out my hair and she had to cut it when I wasn't even going for a cut because my hair was healthy and had just cut it a few weeks before my appt. and guess what I was also charged for the cut and for getting my hair fried. I am devastated on how ugly my hair is. I was excited to come in for my appt because of what I had seen on Instagram. But nope! Results were sooooooo poor. My hair is short and ugly now. ;-( i was charged $300 PLUS the products I had to buy from Sally's to help restore hair. NEVER AGAIN will I ever do anything to my hair or pay so much. I made an appointment with Miriam 3 weeks in advance. The day before my appointment, I called to confirm. At 8:55 the morning of, I receive a text from Miriam stating she wouldn't be able to work on me and if need be, she can get me in the afternoon. Since this is 5 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment, I'm already at the salon walking through the door at this time!! When she sees me she says she's running behind and will be with me shortly. I knew there wasn't going to be nothing short about it when I see she's barely starting on a full head of highlights. I should've just left, but needed my hair done for a wedding and knew how hard it would be to get in somewhere else on a Saturday. After a while she got another stylist to work on me (never let me know, asked me if this was ok, or even apologized). I give it a 0! Worst haircut and color. Miriam(the owner) chopped off my hair with out my permission. I'm guessing she is good with short hair but not long hair. Charged me almost $400, because she claimed it was too long, but yet she cut most of it off. I also asked her not to put bleach in my hair, and she did. Now my hair and short and very dry. COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME. All the girls there have a shitty attitude, even the owner. I went to get my hair done and the very next week, my highlights started turning greenish and even brassy. I tried contacting the owner just to ask her for tips and for another appointment and she didn't answer. I left a voicemail and never got a call back. So I emailed her to give me tips on how to keep my highlights from turning green again and of course she never got back to me. LADIES DO NOT GO THERE. Think twice about coming here and go spend a few hundred dollars somewhere else. My original appointment with Miriam was inputted for the wrong date (supposedly her assistant messed it up). The day of my appointment I get a text 10 MINUTES before my appointment (I was already in an uber on the way there) telling me that she had an urgent matter and she is running extremely behind - one person ahead of me. She tells me to come in around a certain time so I figured I would walk around the area then I get a text "Nevermind, you can come this way"...thinking I am going to get in at that time, but no - I waited almost 45 minutes for her. After showing her multiple pictures and thinking she understood what I was wanting, I ended up with color that was okay and thought would suffice. Once I got home, I realized that it looked completely different - in fact, it had a green hue to it. Of course, I thought I was just imagining things, until my coworkers started making comments. Additionally, there was a large chunk of color (it looks like my roots had grown out) right in the front of my head and WASN'T blended at all (and mind you - it was supposed to be Balayage which is completely blended). Either way - my hair didn't look anything like the pictures I had shown her. Not even close. I texted her that I needed to come back in to show her my hair and she got super defensive - that it was impossible because of the color she used and it must have been my shampoo. Well it WASN'T my shampoo because I hadn't even washed my hair yet. She kept saying she was booked and then finally told me a random weekday (Right before she closed) when I told her I couldn't make it on weekdays. I texted her the day of the appointment that I reluctantly took and she told me she needed to reschedule and wouldn't even give me another time. Since then, she will NOT respond to any of my texts. I have sent her 5 text messages and a picture of my hair. Now I have to go spend another couple hundreds of dollars to get her mistake fixed. I will NEVER come here again! I was referred to Mariam by a friend who saw her work on Instagram. I saw her work and loved the rose pink with gold. She quoted me 265 -395 after sending her a pic of my hair. It was my birthday present.She also listed all the services I would get in my price. We confirmed the appt. The day of the appointment I had 6 text when I woke up stating she had cancelled my appointment since I had not responded. But I work nights and turn off my phone but I knew what time to be there. She rescheduled. When I finally went in she did not provide me all the services she had quoted. She proceeded to charge me 440 since I told her that was all the money I had. 2 days later the day of my birthday I noticed the pink completely faded away. It had been 2 days I went to work and no one even noticed the pink that was supposed to be in my hair. I text her to let her know how disappointed I was knowing how much money I spent she proceeded to blame it on me on not using a shampoo but still 440 dollars for 2 days?? She reset my appt to fix it. I accepted the night before at 11 pm got a text saying she needed to reschedule..I said ok...then the appt was for today at 12 pm I got a text at 7 am saying her son was sick and she had a Dr appointment by then I realized she robbed me blind. I told her I didnt want her services anymore she then text me back saying she got her husband to take her son to Dr appointment and it wasn't her fault if her son got sick. I've gone to Lauren for several years now and she is far and above the best stylist I've found in Dallas. The experience & end results are always great, from the wash-color-blow outs. I had long, over processed blonde hair when I first started going to her and now I am always so grateful for her care when I leave her chair! Lauren is great with her customer service and she makes the time fly by no matter how long it takes. She takes care of you like you're her family friend and really cares about her clients. She even calls me every time after my visits to check up on me! I love her work and I will not change to any other hair stylist. HIGHLY recommended!!! read more

DON'T EVER GET YOUR HAIR CUT AT THIS PLACE. Miriam butchered my hair beyond repair. I asked for a simple trim and and now I not only have a horrible mullet but I have to grow my hair out again. My hair grows really slow so this was especially traumatizing for me. It seems I had the same experience as a number of other people. I must say that Lauren is AMAZINGGGGGG!!!! i have really long thick black hair and was wanting a change. Lauren was so great to prep me for my appointment. i sent her different photos of what i wanted and she recommended what would look best on me. i event texted her all week to make sure that i was going to be taken care of and she ensured me that everything was going to turn out wonderful. Let me tell you... i was so nervous but Lauren made sure that i felt comfortable and even tested a few strains of my hair to make sure it was going to look great! So it has been a week since I went to Miriam. I scheduled my appointment through text and asked for earliest appointment possible on Monday because I requested to be off from work to get my hair done. She gave me an appointment for 1pm. The day of she texted me "I have something important to take care of today. Can we do tomorrow at 1?" I told her I requested the day specifically to get my hair done. I work in Addison and wouldn't be able to make it during the week any other day. She made it work and gave me a 3:30pm appointment. I was already kind of spectical about it because a professional salon would NEVER do that! When she starts working on my hair she tells me she probably won't get it as light as I want it. That she would do a test on a stand. She tells me it won't get light unless she stripped my hair. I had dyed it 4 months prior with a black box color. I've been through the process before so I agreed. I knew the process would take longer but I really wanted a lighter color ombre. After SEVEN VERY VERY LONG HOURS of her going back and forth with me and another client, my hair was finally finished! I really liked it. It got a lot lighter than what I expected. I felt that those SEVEN hours were worth it...at the time. What I didnt think was worth it, was paying $345.00 for it! As I stated previously I have had the process done before. I have NEVER in my life paid so much to get my hair colored and semi cut! NEVER! Although I liked my hair. It was definitely NOT worth $345!!!! OH! PLUS TIP! I wish they would have been a lot friendlier and made my first experience a good one. I also wish I hadn't got RIPPED OFF!!!! The seven hours were not because of the process, it was because her scheduling was off and she had to go back and forth with another client. The stripping was not worth that much either! I felt very disappointed because I have been following her on IG for a year and was really looking forward to making her my permanent hairdresser. Needless to say I will not be returning and I don't recommend anyone else to go either. Unless they are willing to pay and arm and a leg for something they can get done for WAYYY cheaper at some other place that can do equally as good or better. read more
