Depending on what you're looking for in gyms, this is probably the best overall option in the…read moreVallejo and surrounding areas. 1) monthly cost is reasonable (even better for lifetime memberships). 2) they offer a sauna (City Sports & Planet Fitness do not, only In Shape does in Vallejo). 3) they offer additional amenities (like hydromassage and tanning). City doesn't at all, In Shape does, Planet does if you have a Black Level membership). 4) they actually use the annual membership fee to make improvements to the club (City just pockets it to their bottom line. city hasn't bought any new equipment since they opened in 2020). 5) they have a turf area that anyone can use with plenty of an wheels, foam rollers and an adequate number of mats and kettle balls. Factors that stop me from giving them 5 stars... it's VERY busy during rush hour (Monday-Thursday). Weekends are reasonable. There's too many folks filming and trying to be fitness influencers. The Zumba class music is too loud and with the door open (just like City Sports), but to be fair, the manager has tried to fix this. If cardio equipment is important to you, City Sports & Planet have a lot more.

He is patient, knowledgeable, and encouraging, and he has helped me feel much more comfortable using the equipment safely and confidently. With his support, I've lost over 30 lbs. over the past 6 months of training, which has been incredibly motivating. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that the gym is a bit small for the number of members and can get crowded at times. I try to go during quieter hours, but overall, I've had a positive experience.

Long story short, if…read moreyou go to the ER while you are here or shortly after, you have to immediately return with a copy of a doctor's note or email it. You need to do this asap and specify freezes on all services. If you have Kids Klub, END IT. I went to Vivian who was there the last time I had an ER visit a couple years ago: this past December, I was injured again suddenly on site during a training appointment (due to my body/health situation, not my trainer or an exercise injury) and I let her know I was getting a ride to the ER this time instead of an ambulance, since it was a was a touch less urgent. She was responsive this day and seemed to enter the freezes correctly. I dropped off the first note 2 days later to support a freeze for a couple months since a major surgery would get scheduled. I was told I had an 8" growth and cancer in my blood and had to wait the entire winter holidays for further info until doctors were back in the hospital. A few weeks later the billing began... I called Vivian and mentioned my bank was informed of my condition and knew to not pay the bills until a certain date. She laughed and said I'd be billed later anyways. I felt like "I have cancer again, I could die this time with this huge growth. She's laughing at me." I know it was not personal, but forgive me, I'll never forget the feeling of thinking I might die and getting this is the response while asking for help. My health is poor after surviving breast cancer treatments in 2020 and they wrecked parts of my body but eradicated an aggressive form of breast cancer. I don't want to go into how bad the type is, but the odds are very bad with that type and they use the highest doses of their most aggressive chemo to eradicate the cancer. That's why I struggle and have gone to the ER twice in a couple years. But working out improves my condition, so it's essential. I'm so glad I found out a few days later that the current ER test was a misdiagnosis. I eventually received a big surgery, recovered and called in to sort out the bills that were waiting for me. Because I was experienced in navigating the disorganized billing practices, it was a smaller bill this time. I reached a teleservice rep who had her manager Mark look into it and it was fixed after 3 phone calls for a full refund. I know it's not personal. But I've decided that clearly this is not customer service at all. This is just workers, protecting themselves and the company and you just have to advocate super quick, do the footwork and calls and take notes, document, stay on it, trust nothing, stay positive and confirm and be persistent. Most businesses exhibit hospitality and customer service at an average level. Often if a medical incident occurs you'll get a compassionate response and excellent customer care. Not here, you will get compassion at first and solutions that fall through. Then they will lose confidence and be strained but still attempt to help. Eventually, it requires an escalation and manager intervention to correct the situation. The in-gym customer service experience will be good about situational things like everyday interactions. But if your issue has ANYTHING to do with billing, there is no safety net no matter how serious your medical situation. Had I only had a normal membership instead of a training membership too, I probably could have just canceled or never been the wiser. I'm actually hopeful no one ever has to experience this zone that they are weak at. But if you do, stay flexible, positive, and stay on it. Good luck and good health! I saw billing fees,

This is a place where, in my experience, you either feel like you belong or you don't. There were times I felt judged, uncomfortable, and honestly more bullied than supported. The membership situation was the final straw. I completed the 3-month agreement I signed up for and immediately told him I did not want to continue. I wasn't trying to cancel early or get out of anything. The 30-day cancellation policy came up when we discussed going month-to-month AFTER my original 3 months. He now insists everything was made clear, but if I'm being charged a fourth payment on something sold to me as a 3-month agreement, clearly there was a lack of clarity somewhere. What made it worse was the way the owner spoke to me when I questioned it. I found his responses extremely disrespectful and condescending. Apparently, asking a reasonable question about my own account warranted being reminded about the discount I received and bringing my mom into the conversation because her card was on file. At some point, you'd think the business would speak to the actual member instead of the cardholder. I supported this business, paid my membership, and came back after years away. I didn't expect special treatment, but I did expect basic respect. Unfortunately, the way this was handled made it very clear that once you're no longer a paying member, the relationship seems to matter a lot less. Definitely not the way I expected things to end.

I had scheduled appts for "new member orientation" and "design your own program" online for my first workout day. I received emails confirming my enrollment for these sessions, and even got reminder emails the day before my appts. When I arrived, I was helped by Jeremiah at the front desk. He very nicely informed me that the trainer that was supposed to lead my appts was no longer working there. There was nothing to be done to change that, but it would have been helpful if I had been informed ahead of time that the appts weren't going to happen, as I'd had to change plans around in my day to accommodate these scheduled appts at the gym. I hope the class schedule will be corrected to reflect when there is and isn't staff available.

It's open 24 hrs. a day, which is another big plus. Like most PF's, this is a franchise-owned location. It's still likely not the gym of choice for hardcore bodybuilders. But that "bigger is better" mentality is thankfully a thing of the past. Nonetheless, I'm guessing 99% of us can get a great workout here with state-of-the art equipment for members of all fitness levels & goals. No pool or sauna as most PF's aren't equipped with those amenities (as least any that I've ever seen). I signed a waiver, which felt weird for something like that. Now I know why. Their shoddy equipment was set up in a low spot in the grass and was so unstable they had a staff member sit on it to keep it from tipping. There was also a bolt sticking out of the front. See attached photo for what a real vertical jump tester looks like (notice no bolt sticking out). When I jumped, I stepped forward slightly (not a run, there was barely room to move), and when I landed, that bolt sliced my pants and left an 8-inch cut up my thigh. I sat down at my booth, clearly injured. Two strangers came to check on me. Pike Fitness staff? Nothing. They saw me sit down, saw I was hurt, and completely ignored it. Later, I passed by their booth and mentioned I'd been cut. They acted like it was no big deal. Now they're responding saying I "ran and launched" myself and refused their help. Total lie. I stepped, I jumped, I got hurt, and they didn't care. They can try to blame me all they want, but their setup was dangerous and their staff was careless. A waiver doesn't excuse negligence. If this is how they operate in public, I wouldn't trust them inside a gym either. Avoid Pike Fitness.
