They had salmon or Saba make sure to come early. There was a long line even before they opened and they ran out of salmon, even though we were at the front of the line. It was nice that they also had unlimited miso soup and rice available and the portion of food provided was a good amount. Outside seating was available, which made it good so that we could make sure to stay safe from sicknesses Was happy to have free garage parking and the complementary tea was nice to have in the lobby. Of particular note was that there are a lot of younger guys staying at this particular hotel that appeared to have parties (drinking?) happening in the rooms nearby and would linger around outside of the lobby hanging out. They didn't bother us and were not super loud but they did end up showing up in the hallways and such here and there.

Check in here is at 1 pm which is SO early for a hotel which is awesome. We got here a little too early tho because our flight came in early in the morning so we had to hang out in the lobby. They tried to accommodate us as quick as they could so we got to check in a little early at 12pm. Very grateful for that!! The standard twin room was a great size for 3 people. The bathroom was huge! And the best part was they had a japanese toilet! Who doens't love a bidet toilet!? Breakfast is complimentary and served from 630-9 am. You can choose between a western or Japanese style breakfast. The staff here are so sweet too and breakfast was fast and yummy! There are a lot of walkable places to eat around the hotel too if you don't feel like venturing out too far. Would def stay here again!

The hotel is located on Hawthorne Blvd in Central Torrance. The parking is now a paid lot. The Penthouse event room is very nice and offers a nice view of Torrance. Those are always a delicious treat! Overall great experiences at this DoubleTree. 4 stars!

Short hair like that seems to be trimmed from somewhere unsightly in my opinion) on the very pillow I was going to lay my head on!!! Genuinely disappointed, mildly disturbed, never again. The 3.7 rating or whatever ratings has by the time you view it are lying to you. You'd be better off staying somewhere else. Normally Hilton has some pretty decent places, but I'm ashamed to say this place generally felt very... meh. I'm not making this one star because the receptionist was nice about my reservation, even after having a bit of a hard time finding our reservation (someone else's reservation showed up for us somehow) and found an accessible room for my family and I (elderly individuals in my family). Very old and outdated, no valet or bellman as mentioned above. Very deceiving looks. I would say goodnight (as of the time of writing this), but I doubt I'll be getting any sleep after the "pillow hair incident" of haunting my dreams.

The privacy screen around the tub was cool along with the blue led lighting in the room. The shower was basic but clean and hot, and that is always appreciated. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds in a hotel I have ever experienced. Only down note was they had a private event we did not know about and the bar area and patio were closed, which was unexpected as we wanted drinks so we ordered in room, but not the experience was we had hoped for. Also the noise level was quite loud until 9:45pm but it was over and done at the point. Rooftop pool was on the smaller side, but the area was quaint. We will probably come again!

With that being said it is an absolutely beautiful hotel, for certain people with certain tastes and styles, honestly it wasn't for me. First off, they offered a welcome margarita, which is a nice gesture and takes away the blow of the bill I guess, if you drink alcohol, which I don't. I would have gone for a snack but they didn't offer. They told me that the resort fee allows you a few special things: one was to get a discount for Equinox while you're in town. I laughed when they told me that because I'm on vacation and while I'm all about fitness, I'm not about to go to Equinox and workout, plus I was only here one night passing by. They also said to go to one of their restaurants in town and tell them that you are staying at the Shade Hotel and they will take care of me. I thought that was really nice. The third perk to this resort fee was that you got a credit at the bar it was $20 towards food or drink. I was told that if I don't use the credit at the restaurant or bar that they will put that money towards my bill and credit me at the end. I'll touch on that later. I walk into my room and I thought I was going to have a seizure or that a migraine would come on soon because they had these hideous neon blue lights bordering the bar in the room and the bed. I thought it was so tacky and awful like I was in Vegas or even better Atlantic City. The room was absolutely enormous and I had a balcony but these lights were so bright and blinding I knew there was no way this was going to fly for the night. I went downstairs and the guy explained to me how I could dim them. Baby, I don't want dim I want off. Luckily when I got back up to the room I was able to dial them completely off. The room got much better at this point except for the jacuzzi tub smack dab in the middle of the room, next to my bed, literally. It was so odd. SO odd. The bathroom vanity was open concept, jacuzzi tub then my bed. It was not for me. They had these door things you could use to close the area off, but I just have one question, why? Why was this an idea that came to fruition? The toilet had a separate area with a door. I don't know, it was weird to me. Also, alcohol everywhere in the room, bottles upon bottles. Snacks for purchase, drinks in the fridge for purchase, the usual. The amount of alcohol was shocking to me though. The TV was pretty small and awkwardly positioned a bit from the bed, the bed was comfy enough, had a good night sleep. Woke up the next morning and upon check out just double checked to make sure that the $20 would be credited to my room if I didn't use it at the bar and they said that's not a thing and they don't do that. So I'm not sure what the guy was talking about the night before. Anyways, I didn't want anything to drink so I grabbed two orders of fruit to go. This fruit, lol. It was wildly expensive for what I got I'll leave it at that. Some melon, berries, it was disappointing. Very loud at night I will say that they had the music going late, which I'm not ever going to complain about in the moment but I'm just mentioning it. What else what else. Perfect location, walking distance to everything, extremely convenient. Try it you may love it! Still think it deserves a good review because it was very clean, that's number one priority in a hotel for me.

Otherwise, there are better options all over the Southland including other Hampton Inns. My review is coming from the perspective of a Hilton Honors Lifetime Diamond member. I stay in plenty of Hampton Inns around the US and even some around the globe. I recognize that it is in the budget arm of the Hilton brand portfolio and when I stay at a Hampton Inn, I am not expecting high-end, luxury amenities, personal services, or public spaces with artwork. I am looking for a reasonable price for the area market, a safe and clean stay, and casual but professional staff interactions. The 2 features I like about this hotel are the free self-parking and the overall cost for the local market. Almost all other hotels in and around this area (within 10 miles of LAX) charge some parking fee which this property does not. Also, the room price was not dirt cheap but was among the lowest of the other area hotels of similar comfort levels. While it is hard to not like that, I came away from my first stay here with an understanding that you get what you pay for. It is in an odd location, just off of the freeway and jammed into some open ground abutting 60 mph traffic. Just be aware that it is not really sound-proofed so freeway noise is going to be present. Also, the desk staff seems to have been called up from the bush-league. Like most hotels, guaranteed check in is at 3p. I happened to arrive early at 1:30p to an empty parking lot and a quiet lobby and thought the likelihood of me getting into a room early might be high. The desk agent did not look up at me standing at his desk until I intentionally made some noise and then instead of greeting me like a guest, he asked what I wanted as if I was interrupting him. I told him my name on the reservation and asked if I might check in early. He told me no immediately without even checking if there were rooms available. I have done this enough to know that it is sometimes helpful for the front desk to check to see if there were rooms available early and so I asked if he would check and he told me he knew that there were none. When I asked if he knew if any would be available early, he told there would not be any available until 3p and that they would text me if something opened up. I left a little annoyed because I felt like I had been blown off and I started driving away to look for somewhere to grab a late lunch. I received a text 8 min later that a room was now ready. When I got back to the hotel to ask about it, he acted like he had no idea who I was as he was checking me in. I thought it was odd when I had to ask if I could have a bottle of water which is a benefit I get for being a Diamond member. He gave me one but would not have had I not asked and I never received any acknowledgement of loyalty. I never really expect that anyway but I find it nice when a hotel staff will welcome me as a guest based on that. It just shows that they spent some time paying attention to caring about their customer base. The hotel was clean but clearly old and in need of a refresh. There is a lot of chipped paint in the public spaces. In the end, I got a bed, a parking space, did not get robbed, and did not see bed bugs. But I also got zero in terms of polite and professional service, no loyalty recognition, and no warm and fuzzy endearment to want to stay here again.

I checked in after an emergency cancellation from air BnB and there is always someone on site to assist you. Everyone so far has given excellent customer service. The prices are by the day so rates vary, but this is a last-minute spot for people on a dime. It's 1000% better than my stay in Inglewood for almost the same price, and a million times better than my random website bookings otherwise. People just want a 5-star hotel on a fast-food budget it seems, but this served every purpose I needed. And obviously no insane charge for mandatory valet on-site parking, which some high-end hotels use to charge more per room. The room itself is great. The location is not a fancy neighborhood obviously, but I've seen the Four Star Sheraton by the airport has some horrible reviews. This motel itself is awesome after having to compromise so much with my dogs with me. There's AC, plenty of parking, it's close to the 405 (main north-south) freeway, there's a mini fridge, a shower, good wi-fi, and a nice bed to sleep in. And it is as safe as it can be in California as it's video monitored. It was clean as well. I happened to lose my phone during this whole scenario and front desk was kind enough to try to help me find it. I'm sure they get plenty of customers similar to those reviewing who are overly demanding yet cheap. Cheap meaning, won't pay but demand beyond what they can afford anyway. Not on a budget.

Also the parking lot is tiny for a motel 6 and only one way - whether going or coming it's only enough for one car. So for example when we came in someone was leaving and it's very awkward as we can't get out of their way much and we can't go in. What I didn't hate about it was it was actually pretty clean for a motel 6. Probably the cleanest I can recall being in. Beds were semi comfortable. I did not like that there was literally no mirrors in the place except one tiny one In the bathroom. But points for the sink and mirror being inside the bathroom. If you need somewhere by sofi it's a decent option as it's cheaper than those closer but still only a $20 Uber ride. I will be trying somewhere else though
