The rooms are super clean, you get a ton of amenities: air conditioning, a refrigerator in every room (some that even have a little freezer, big screen TV's (some rooms even have two remotes that includes a special remote for specialty (mainstream) channels, free WiFi, free parking (you read that right), great well maintained ice machines on every other floor, free tea and coffee, great and always well stocked beverage vending machines that only cost 1$ - $2 - with pure orange juice, V8 juice, different cold teas, and several different brands of high quality water in the vending machines, all for only $1 to $2. Free breakfast (every morning) with your choice of one of three choices: American (scrambled egg, toast or bagel, bacon or breakfast sausage, breakfast potatoes, and a little salad on the side. Or, you can choose the Asian breakfast Binto box, or, the new Curry bowl for breakfast. Kleenex and ice buckets are in every room too, and ample towels and a bath mat. The bidets in the bathrooms are a very nice extra, and you can set your toilet seat to 'warm'. Comfy! There is also a (clean) laundry room with (new) washers and dryers, and a Fitness Center (but I didn't go in, so I can rate it). There's a big swimming pool up to 4 1/2 feet deep. There is a very nice covered patio in the front of the hotel and an additional big patio area, both right across from the front entrance to the hotel lobby. The plants and foilage and plants look good. New Gardena Hotel offers a Conference Center (but I didn't go inside so I can comment on it), and a great restaurant with Japanese foods and some appetizers, beverages, and probably wines. Came here per the recommendation of a friend who stayed here. The room was quite small, but Everything was clean decent. but there are no complementary toiletries provided if you happen to forget simple items, like a toothbrush or toothpaste, etc. The best part of the stay was a free Japanese Bento box breakfast. They had salmon or Saba make sure to come early. There was a long line even before they opened and they ran out of salmon, even though we were at the front of the line. It was nice that they also had unlimited miso soup and rice available and the portion of food provided was a good amount. Outside seating was available, which made it good so that we could make sure to stay safe from sicknesses Was happy to have free garage parking and the complementary tea was nice to have in the lobby. Of particular note was that there are a lot of younger guys staying at this particular hotel that appeared to have parties (drinking?) happening in the rooms nearby and would linger around outside of the lobby hanging out. They didn't bother us and were not super loud but they did end up showing up in the hallways and such here and there. read more

Very convenient place to stay in LA! This hotel is in Torrance, CA and is close to a lot of things. Mostly Japanese speaking clientele so it really makes you feel like you're in japan, I love it. Check in here is at 1 pm which is SO early for a hotel which is awesome. We got here a little too early tho because our flight came in early in the morning so we had to hang out in the lobby. They tried to accommodate us as quick as they could so we got to check in a little early at 12pm. Very grateful for that!! The standard twin room was a great size for 3 people. The bathroom was huge! And the best part was they had a japanese toilet! Who doens't love a bidet toilet!? Breakfast is complimentary and served from 630-9 am. You can choose between a western or Japanese style breakfast. The staff here are so sweet too and breakfast was fast and yummy! There are a lot of walkable places to eat around the hotel too if you don't feel like venturing out too far. On Redondo Beach Blvd, its in a great central location. We wanted to stay close to SoFi stadium without paying a mint for a room. The hotel is very clean and elegant. Its been renovated from an older style you can tell but it all works. We felt safe and secure. Also there are quite a few places to eat and drink in the area. Overall I give the hotel 5-stars for being clean, quiet, room size, tv and good location. The service is really good. We did not try to breakfast but we woke up too late as it ends at 9am. The amenities were good and overall was very pleased with the hotel. I RECOMMEND BRINGING A FAN TO CIRCULATE THE AIR. Due to the street noise opening the window is not a good option if you want to sleep. But closed, the window drowns out the street noise very well. I think I've found my new favorite hotel when visiting SoCal. Me and my friend are young girls not familiar with the area. The free parking in their garage with 24/7 security made us feel safe when we had to drive back to the hotel past midnight on the multiple nights we were there. The street noises outside of our hotel room was white noise for me. That, plus the blackout curtains in the room gave me the most relaxing sleep after driving 6+ hours. It was almost eerie, but well-needed for tired travelers like me, at how quiet the hotel was. It was actually a very busy place with guests constantly checking in/out, but you couldn't ever tell because even the children there with families were very respectful and not loud at all like how kids can be. Our room was clean (everything at the hotel looked very clean and well-maintained) and it was during our stay here when I realized I've been missing out on not having a bidet all my life. Lol. For the complimentary breakfasts, I opted for Japanese over the American option for all of the mornings I was there. My meals were very fulfilling, and this is coming from me, a big back who eats more than they should. I chose mackerel on my first day and salmon on my second morning. The bento presentation and how flavorful everything was could easily have cost $$$ outside at standard Japanese restaurants. These breakfasts are way yummier than anything they'd have at the IHOP across the street! Best of all, all of their staff were very polite and respectful, including the front desk, garage security, housekeeping and my favorite, the morning breakfast host and staff. The hotel had mostly Japanese clientele/travelers. I am not one, but all of the employees I came across during our stay were welcoming and never did I ever feel uncomfortable. I would definitely stay here again the next time we are in the area and I could confidently recommend the hotel to my friends and family. read more

Located in the heart of Gardena, conveniently located on Redondo Beach Blvd is the New Gardena Hotel. It's approximately seven miles from LAX with easy access on and off the 405, 91 and 110 freeways. For the number of visits and a few stays, I am finally writing this review. Things have progressively changed Previously and now updated: 1) complimentary breakfast was included with your nightly stay. Today, no breakfast but they now offer complimentary dinner. Several choices are offered along with their one daily special. 2) no rules for parking in the garage; today, you have a stub which you leave on your dashboard. (No stub, you risk getting towed) 3) Happa Restaurant was there to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. They had an adjoining sports bar. Today, sports bar is gone and a local korean restaurant now serves meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. 4) A smoking section was designated but today, the dining establishment and hotel is a Non Smoking Establishment. If you are a smoker, you would have to exit the building and smoke outside (on the street side) Some things remain constant: 1) pleasant service at the front desk and around the Premises 2) moderately priced and if you're on their corporate guest list (and this list goes back to Day 1, you are still entitled to the various corporate perquisites; like circa 2000 prices, automatic upgrade for your room if available, complimentary soft drink in your room, early check in and a few others 3) CLEAN room and Premises. Drug and grocery stores are located within walking distance along with Starbucks, MacDonald's and the like. If you are passing through the City of Gardena or if you have an evening event that may cause you to have a staycation; the New Gardena Hotel is the place for you. read more

Clean, comfortable, and quiet! I would absolutely stay here again, I really enjoyed the breakfast, too!

Looking for a nicer hotel that wasn't in the hood. NGH popped up with good reviews and what seemed like a better part of town. When I called their rate was $50 cheaper than the BWP that was 2 miles away but in a sketchier hood, so we went for it. I liked that there were a ton of Asian restaurants around and also a grocery store across the street. You can tell that the place was remodeled. The lobby was clean and set up for Covid precautions. Staff wore masks and were friendly and efficient. I noticed a wall of security cameras' live video feed behind the registration desk. They offered a free bento box dinner for takeout from the resto next door, Happa, for hotel guests. We parked in the garage in the basement of the hotel. We were on the top floor. Room appeared clean, although they should probably replace the carpet that was worn and had stains. Comfy beds. The best part about the room? The toilet had a bidet, and I took full advantage of this amenity! Besides the worn out carpet, the heater had a horrible smell when we turned it on. We had left the A/C running for awhile because the room felt humid, but eventually turned the heater on. Big mistake! My husband wanted to keep it running for a few minutes to see if the odor would go away, but the odor was so nasty, I couldn't take it. Did not want to deal with changing rooms since it was so late, so we just doubled up on blankets and it was fine. The tv remote probably needed a new battery, and it was hard to find anything other than Asian channels. Oh well. It was decent enough and I felt safe, so I would probably stay here again, especially for the price. Hopefully they will upgrade the carpets and the heating/cooling system. read more

I've never been to a Japanese owned hotel before but my friends and I really enjoyed our time here. The room was so nice and spacious especially the bathroom area. They gave out dinner bentos vouchers in replacement of their complimentary breakfasts. We weren't able to try them since timing of our plans never matched but from other reviews, they look like nice balanced Japanese meals. There's a parking lot underneath where you can park free on premises. This hotel is also located near many great Japanese and Korean establishments so there's tons of food options. This review is mainly for the breakfast they serve at the restaurant. Initially, I didn't know if this Hotel served breakfast for non-guests. I swung in one morning and sure enough they do. Breakfast: $5 including tax (free for hotel guests). American or Japanese style is served and the former consists of scrambles eggs, ham, salad, a big chunk of honeydew melon and 2 toasts with a choice of tea or coffee (with self service refills). The latter, I'm informed is basically the same except toast vs. rice/miso soup. Average quality, average volume I thought this is a bargain for what you get. I left a $1 tip at the counter so the total was actually $6 for me but not bad still. Hours: From 7am to 9am. I wish it opened much earlier for the early birds. Speed: Very fast in and out. You enter, tell the waitress what you want (only two choices), go get coffee, sit down, food came after a few sips, eat and leave. The only communication with any of the staff is when you order the food and pay in advance at the counter. No waiting for a check, no waiting for a refill. Very nice if you're in a hurry or just want to space out for a while. Tables: There are only about 8 small tables inside with a few outdoor seating area. A nice outdoor seating area if it weren't for the bird droppings on one side of the area. The droppings are in straight line mimicking the roof above. Time to place that anti-pigeon barb wires up there ya? Staff: Friendly and businesslike, no hassles. Parking: Underground hotel parking. No fees, no hassles. Customers: When I was there, it was 100% Japanese business folks or tourists. I imagined that I was in Japan for a few minutes, this is something different and I like it. How is the hotel room and service? So so, not bad. This from a business stay by a work related guest and relative's friends who stayed at the hotel. Gripe: I can't help noticing the poorly maintained lit sign at the very top of the four story building. Stayed here for a couple nights and really had a great time. It was worth the price and loved the location. The room was clean tub was a great size and loved that it was close to some good Japanese shopping!m and beaches! The breakfast was great too! Sadly our bidet didn't work and the toilet kept leaking but not a bid deal. Loved the big mirrors to get ready in! The beds were very comfortable too! I had to stay here for a few weeks and will say the best thing going for this hotel is that it's in a convenient location if you don't have a car and want food options. You've got Tozai Plaza right down the street with plenty of restaurants like Marie Callendars, Boiling Point, a sushi place, pho, Kotohira. Right across the street is a small shopping center with a Carrows, Marukai (with a food court that has Sushi Boy, Shinsengumi takeout, Beard Papa, Bentoss and a couple of others), Tea Station, Phoenix and a few other small restaurants. Rooms are pretty basic fare and they've got self-serve coffee, tea and water in the lobby. Beds are nothing fancy , and your A/C is courtesy of a decent wall unit below the windows. Parking is free and is fine, unless there's a function going on either at the hotel or the downstairs restaurant, which will fill up the parking garage to capacity. One night, I had to circle around several times and ended up parking outside in the parking lot behind the bank. I didn't have any problems accessing the free wi-fi. The 110 is right down the street and the 405 is a couple of miles in the other direction so you've also got pretty easy access, as well. read more

This place sucks...... I have been dealing in imports and exports for years and therefore have alot of Japanese clients....and God Knows why...but they usually want to stay here. I suppose because the staff speaks Japanese....but quality wise I would say this hotel ranks up there with Imperial Palace minus the casino...it smells musty...needs redecorating...and has already lived though its hayday. I went here a few months ago because my mentor was visiting for the first time in 8 years from Osaka. He had already made reservations there...not realizing the place has yet to be revamped....well needless to say that after check in....he decided to check out and come stay at my house in Los Feliz.....even though he's an old Japanese man that can't speak English...he decided to rough it American style....and had a much better time with me I convinced my next customer to stay at the Roosevelt.....this was his first time staying at a non Japanese hotel...but he loved it....the topless pool...the location...the restuarants...he's a convert now...not to mention its alot more convienent for me being right down the street..... Being that I'm a bit of a World Traveler myself...I understand why my clients like to stay in Japanese hotels.....its more comfortable for them to be able to communicate, but really I hate giving the impression that the best we have is the New Gardena The plus that I did give this hotel are for location and Japanese speaking staff.. read more

Nice overall hotel with clean rooms and amenities. Only a few issues came to mind.. 1) on checkout day at 11am, the front desk will hound you with multiple calls. This hotel was not safety. It's located a bad area close to Compton. It's so noisy at night like shooting sound, a car accident and police coming bra bra... The hotel staffs were so bossy. At first they are nice and friendly, but they were easily to get fussy and doing an illegal thing. It's the worst experience for me. read more

The New Gardena Hotel is in a great location in Downtown Gardena, CA , which is why we chose this hotel for a weekend getaway. The lobby is grand, the service was great and the room was so-so. If you can get a good deal, it's well worth it for the experience. Admittedly, the room was a little shabby, but keep in mind that this is a very old hotel that has been updated, it hasn't had a complete overhaul. japanese or american breakfast is served at happa, a little restaurant next to the hotel. breakfast is $3 each and very filling. i believe you can get breakfast even if you are not a guest of the hotel, but i'm not entirely sure. hotel perks: free parking, free water/tea/coffee downstairs in the lobby, a hearty, homemade breakfast for cheap, beds are nice, the room is clean, the bathtub is deeper than traditional american hotel bathtubs (which is a plus for japanese guests that are used to the deep japanese tubs), the bathroom counter is long and most of the staff speak japanese. downside: for me, i don't see any as i am japanese and feel comfortable in this kind of environment but i completely understand where someone that does not speak japanese or is not interested in japanese culture would not enjoy their stay. the rooms may be viewed as mediocre in that regard but for me, the ability to be comfortable in a japan-like environment triumphs the normal-ness of the rooms. read more

I was really impressed, the rooms were simple, but large and roomy. The parking is free, the coffee, though not strong enough for me was plentiful and available 24/7. They have this large container of assorted cookies and flavored popcorn, which more than made up for the weak coffee.Chiyoko and Kasue were friendly, courteous and treated us with an overflowing of kindness. We will always stay there whenever we visit LA. Did I mention how clean the place was? Very clean, everywhere. read more
