No way, 5 stars? I was so skeptical that I just HAD to make an appointment and see Aaron myself. He looked at my hair, we talked about how to cut it, and then he washed and cut it. Because I'm not a professional, I really can't describe the cutting, etc .. But what I do know is that he was very careful and fast, taught me how to style it and also curled the tips for me in the end. I have really thick and full hair so it's always layered and thinned out -- but Aaron explained to me how it only makes my hair look puffier because it's lighter at the end. He says it's better to not get too many layers and to just let my hair's natural weight bring it down. New perspective. Everyone likes their hair cut different but before you make up your mind about your hair stylist, you should definitely try him out! My friend Helen recommended Jerry! My hair had been the same all my life. I needed a change. She said he could figure out what to do just by looking at my face... and he did! As soon as I walked in I was welcomed. I called 1 hour prior for an appt. The decor was great. Apparently they moved to this location 2 years ago. I arrived 15 min early but they were able to start my wash and treatment prior to my cut. The lady that did my hair wash was AMAZING with her scalp massage. She always made sure to ask me if the water temp was comfortable. (Some people assume everyone's tolerance for heat/cold is the same). The deep conditioning treatment was where she have me a 15 minute scalp Massage. Post washing, the sat me in a comfy Leather chair and offered me a beverage while I waited. I showed Aili a picture of the hairstyle I was going for. (Short Bob that is longer towards the front) she told me since my hair isn't as long in the front that it won't look EXACTLY the same. I appreciated the fact that she told me her honest opinion BEFORE she started cutting. Some people will just cut BEFORE actually assessing, giving you the false pretense that you'll get what you show them, She cut, blow dried and styled and I LOVED it! I love this salon! I've been here twice, and both times I had great stylists who were able to interpret my vague descriptions of what type of hair cut I wanted and provide amazing haircuts. I forgot the name of the first stylist but she's usually one of the two that work on Tuesdays. She was great! I just went in today and saw Zee and he's also amazing! I asked Zee to give me a pixie/punk-ish/short-on-the-sides-long-on-the-top/textured/kinda-side-part that would go well with my crazy colored hair. That Covid-19 thing, remember that. No haircuts for 3+ months. I was beginning to look like the heat miser (look it up) without the red. Along comes my 20th wedding anniversary and I am in desperate need of haircut. Almost all places were closed and not even answering phones. This is were Studio 79 started to stand out. One, we used Yelp messaging to book my appointment. I love that they used technology and care about the online community. Two, the place was VERY clean and tidy. All Covid related information was easily seen and always adhered to. Three, the owner is a super nice guy with some hair cutting skills. He took the time to cut, shape, and really make my hair look great which is much better than the mop I was sporting. All-in-all a great experience and I got a great haircut. I've been visiting Jerry for over a year and can say with certainty that he is one of the most meticulous and impressive hair artists I have ever come across. The cuts are expensive at $45 + tax/tip, but they are well worth the investment in my opinion. I needed to find a new hair salon, since many of the salons I've been to in the past weren't particularly great, so I decided to check out Studio 79 because of all the great reviews. I made an appointment with Jerry after seeing his work here on Yelp. Came in and was offered water or espresso while I wait. Small things like that really add to the experience of a high end salon. The salon itself was very nice and clean and had a modern feel and open layout. As for the haircut, I came in with a rough idea of what I wanted. I showed Jerry a photo that kind of resembled what I had in mind. I further asked for his opinion and he started giving some ideas and suggestions as to what he was gonna do and how he would make it work for me. When it came to cutting my hair, Jerry was very precise and took his time in getting the look that I wanted. The end result was even better than I expected. In addition to the haircut, I also got highlights. I wanted to do silver highlights, but Jerry let me know that this might not be possible on the first try because my hair was so dark. But he said he would try to get it as close as possible. In the end, my hair came out to an ash grey color with a little bit of silver, and I absolutely love it. I didn't think ash grey would be as good as silver, but I ended up liking it a lot more. Overall my experience here at Studio 79 was a very positive one. After searching for a good hair salon and stylist for so long, I've finally found one that I will definitely be coming back to. Thank you Jerry for the awesome cut and color! read more

I know compared to other salons when cutting hair they section bigger pieces to get the job done quicker but Aaron was sooo detail oriented and was sectioning off inch by inch. My hairs thick too so it was a lengthy process but he stuck with it. Plus these layers are PHENOMENAL. I showed my friends the picture inspiration for my cut and they responded "you showed him the picture, and your hairdresser said 'here let me make it better'". LOL. No but he was also super nice and helpful during the whole thing. He kept giving me advice on how to get the look I want, what products to use, and secret information that hairdressers won't tell you lol. Love studio 79, the place just screams quality. Made an appointment with Michelle again to get to my hair cut, she does amazing work . Everytime i go in, i get a warm welcome. Despite the fact that i don't get my hair cut very often, Michelle can still remember me and how i would like my hair to be styled. They wash your hair and condition it when you come in. Then you can tell that Michelle really makes an effort to make sure you leave satisfied, she takes her time and works meticulously to make sure every hair is in its place. She makes sure to get feedback from you during and after the hair cut, which ensures that you get your hair styled in the way that you want. After your hair is cut, they take you to the back for one last rinse and wash; this ensures that you dont leave the salon feeling itchy with clippings of hair still stuck to your head. At which point your hair dresser will blowdry and restyle your hair. The prices are fair, $45 for men and $55 for women. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants their hair done right. They were pretty busy for the time being, but squeezed me in at 2. **NOTE** Schedule an appointment before hand, it will be really helpful. Aaron guided me and helped me decide which look was right for me. He lead me step by step with what he was doing with my hair. While handling my hair, he was very gentle. This place is great! In all honesty, Michelle probably gave me the best haircut of my life. The whole experience from start to finish was great. First I sat down and went through some ideas I had on my phone and we found the perfect solution for my hair type. I got a shampoo and conditioner treatment then was brought back to the chair for the cut which ended up going above and beyond my expectations. This is the first time I truly feel like my hair was done correctly, she completely understood the type it is and she did great! The only down side is that she wasnt able to do a bald fade. Unlike other salons having assistant washing my hair, she did everything on her own yet with great attention to details. The whole experience was pleasurable and satisfying. I don't like to give detail instructions to where to trim or cut. All I said was simple yet with a little style and she delivered a great style for me. I've always had anxiety when getting my haircut because almost no one in this world follows your instruction. You want it 1 inch? They cut 2, You show them a picture but they do their own thing anyway it drives you crazy! Sometimes all you want is a little fix but they go ahead and shave the hell out of it.. BUT NOT in this Salon, at least not for Marissa. When I saw her grab the shears first instead of the electric razor I knew I came to the right place. Went in on Friday January 6th to get my hair cut by Marissa. I have never been to this salon and decided to go because of all of the reviews. And may I say this was by far the best experience I have ever had at a hair salon. When I walked in I was actually greeted by Marissa. She appeared to be busy taking care of a couple of morning tasks since they just opened but she offered me some water or coffee. I sat down since I was a couple of minutes early. We started promptly at 10am which was the time of my appointment. Earlier that week I messaged the owner on Yelp and made the appointment with Marissa. I provided pictures and told them I wanted my hair all chopped off. My hair was very long against my lower back and I wanted it cut to my shoulders. She asked if this was my first time having my hair this short and it was. Marissa made sure I was very comfortable in my seat and with my neck when she washed and cut my hair. Marissa is a woman of focus and professionalism. She made sure I was 110% happy with my cut and even offered some hairstyling tips since I never had it this short. My first negative review. Very disappointed! Aaron did my haircut, and he is the most impatient and rude hair cutter I've ever met: Fact 1. After I told him what kind of style I want and mentioned that I don't want upper layer too short, he went directly "how long do you want the upper layer to be?" I said "I'm not sure, just as long as necessary for the style" And then he said "JUST ANSWER ME. SIMPLE QUESTION. YES OR NO. EVERYONE COMES HERE ANSWERS IT " I don't understand. Should I be so professional and give him step-by-step instruction?? So I explained "but I really only know what kind of style I want, I don't know how to cut my hair to make that style. Your question sounds a little too technical for me. I'm not a professional." And he seems mad(???)and said sarcastically "What a nice answer" Ok, I guess maybe I couldn't explain clearly by words, pictures may help. So I told him maybe I can show him some pictures of what I want and I don't want. ONLY AFTER TWO pictures, he was like " OK STOP SHOWING ME PICTURES, THOSE ARE FOR THE PAST, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT YOUR HAIRCUT TODAY" ??? How disrespectful!! Fact 2. After I already laid down and was ready for hair wash, he came to me said (in mandarin) "I AM ACTUALLY VERY MAD AT YOU RIGHT NOW". WHAT??? I was so shocked and confused, and of course super uncomfortable. And then he left me there for 2 minutes (to calm down) and came back ask "Who told you about our shop? What is your friend's name?" After he dried my hair, he literally took no more than 2 mins to further trim my hair, and asked me whether the haircut is OK.Obviously I'm not satisfied at all! But even before I said anything, he took off the cover on me, and LEFT TO THE FRONT DESK WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING OR WAITING FOR MY FEEDBACK, which obviously he doesn't care. The result is of course the haircut is nothing like my expectation, and my friend said she can't tell any difference compared to my haircut before. Even until now, I don't understand why Aaron is so impatient and mad. Yes, I was 15 minutes late for my appointment, and I did apologize twice once when I stepped into the shop and also to him in person. When I was talking, I smiled as much as possible. This review is purely for a haircut. I just had my haircut done by Ethan recently. He was very friendly and approachable. He definitely took his time giving me the cut. I'm not sure if he is new/ inexperienced???! That I came out with a pretty messed up haircut.. Meaning it's pretty screwed. I admit that I'm very picky when it comes to hair dresser, but I haven't been this disappointed in awhile. He left a part of my hair weirdly chopped... I can't really explain so here I attached a picture. He also textures my hair a bit TOO MUCH that I'm left with vey little hair. It just really sucks that my wedding is coming up in 3 months and am left with very little hair for styling. Try this place at your own risk.
