This is my second time visiting Hair Habit. I asked for a haircut first but then I changed my mind to do highlight instead of cutting my hair. My appointment was at 10:30 a.m. yesterday and waiting about 30 minutes because I called them at 9:45 a.m. Rose asked me what color I wanted and she handed me a booklet to choose color. She was knowledgeable enough to advise me on the color based on my skin color, hair color, and maintenance level so I picked red because it's low maintenance and suitable for me. Lily helped me do the highlight ($100), she was patient and asked my preference. She set the time for about 30 minutes and then helped me wash my hair. She was very nice and took photos for me and she even recorded a video. I'm satisfied with my highlight outcome. It took me about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Thank you Rose and Lily. This has been my go to place the past couple of years. They are easy to work with and usually have same day appointments available if you call early enough. I don't have a lot of free time so I have to squeeze in a hair cut on the one day a week I drop off kiddo in the area and don't have to rush back to work. They speak good enough English and can work with whatever you show them. A haircut with wash is reasonable considering how ridiculously expensive it can be to get a haircut elsewhere. Visited Hair Habit to get a hair cut and hair color refresh. I previously had my hair colored to an ashy tone balayage, but the color had faded. My hair also grew out to a point where the top half was virgin, natural black colored hair and the bottom couple of inches were straw yellow -- yikes! I figured it was time for an hair update! I texted Rose to see if she had any appointments available, and I'm so happy she did (thankful for the holidays because most people were out of town)! I got my hair re-colored (balayage) to a dark brown color that will eventually fade to caramel. I also got my hair cut into a long bob with side swept bangs. I really love the dimension my new hair color has and how it still looks beautiful in different lighting! She's been at the salon for over a decade and is an absolute pro when it comes to color. She takes the time to listen, she's incredibly patient, and the results are always exactly what I had in mind. She was blaming herself for not checking up on it, but I told her it was not her fault and I appreciate her professionalism. I had a poor experience, but just 1) ask for Rose to color and 2) check the test strand yourself. ORIGINAL POST: Absolutely no. Came in yesterday for a $100+ hair coloring job with Lily and she butchered my hair. The sad thing is I didn't find out until I was at another salon today and they told me the back was damaged. I came in asking for a gray peekaboo, but was very open to ash brown if my hair couldn't take it. I am honestly very flexible when it comes to hair and I always let stylists know that I know everyone's hair is different and your hair will not come out 100% like the inspo pic you show them. I'm also the type to be open to trimming however many inches because I value my hair quality than length any day. But this was ridiculous! I would have been more understanding if she told me in-chair. I wasn't 100% happy with the hair color job Lily did but I gave her the benefit of the doubt that my hair just needed more sessions than she could have done in one day; therefore, I went to another salon closer to my house. So glad I did cause I cannot believe Lily didn't mention this damage. Hoping management can take this as a learning experience to test strand people's hair. read more

I didn't want to leave a negative review because the hair stylists are friendly and you can feel their efforts (haircut took almost an hour) BUT I didn't expect to enter the place as a businessman and leave as a marine cadet. Despite clear instructions to just trim the sides and numerous times urging to stop going any further/shorter, they answered "okay" and just continued.. so eventually I had to accept my faith and return home as a buddhist monk who might have skipped shaving for a month or two. Struck by the overall high ratings and positive reviews, I decided to reach out to Rose over text message to get a quote for a haircut and dye for my sister and I. Rose was very responsive and we set an appointment for a few weeks later. On the day of the cut, my sister and I showed up at our appointed time. There appeared to be a bit of a miscommunication in terms of the schedule but Rose was very accommodating and was able to fit both of us into her schedule! During the dying process, Rose was very friendly and informative, letting us know how to care for our hair to bring out the best results since this was our first time dying our hair. Rose and Julie worked efficiently to dye and cut our hair, and we were able to finish earlier than the predicted time. After, Rose gave recommendations of some hair products to help maintain our hair. I'm especially glad with how thorough Rose was in coloring my sister's hair! She even provided some leftover color wash on the house! The next day, I expressed some dissatisfaction with the lightness of my hair to Rose over text, and she was more than willing to schedule a second bleaching session! I recently moved to Diamond Bar and was looking for a local hair stylist. At the time, I was rather desperate for a haircut and seeing the 4.5 star average review was enticed to give it a try. I settled for any location that had same-day availability, and I think my hair stylist was Sandy. I sat down and showed her a photo of the style that I'd like. Initially, she said that it would rarely make a difference since that hairstyle was already long and offered to cut it slightly shorter. I accepted and let her begin. The haircut was quite a quiet experience until she opened asking directly if I spoke Mandarin. I mentioned that I knew a little, and we eventually had conversation. As you may imagine, the communication was lackluster, and I feel that unless one spoke Mandarin it would be hard to communicate your desired haircut and preferences. She began cutting my hair more and more, and I felt increasingly nervous and uneasy, almost moved to tears. I could feel that she was not comfortable delivering the hairstyle that I had requested... and I wish that she would have told me up front. Because it was summer, I caved and said that it would be okay to cut it slightly shorter. The end was an unsurprisingly awkward experience, and I think she could sense that I was increasingly discontent with the outcome. She asked if I wanted my hair washed, and I politely declined, wanting to leave immediately. The haircut overall was pretty affordable at $20, but I will most definitely not be returning. Initially, I wanted to leave a 1-star review, but after sitting on it for a few days and then a week, I've slowly come to accept the haircut and while I do not like it, I was able to make do with the tools that I had at home. It was overall not an irrecoverable haircut, and I wish my hair stylist would have been honest with me instead of wanting to make an extra buck - which is what it felt like.
