Original sketch by BethAnn
Kassandra M.

What a gem! So lucky to have you as part of the Westin St. Francis on Union Square team. BethAnn your sketch of our inspiration pictures & vision to the actual execution of our wedding cake was absolutely perfect. You created exactly what we wanted for the atmosphere of the venue & our theme "a Gilded Age". On top of that the cake tasted amazing - the orange and the chocolate were both delicious and we're still enjoying the chocolate tier at home. When the pictures are available from our photographer I will share. Thank you again!

Bethann's hands are golden and I'm still thanking my coordinator for connecting us! We initially saw her for a tasting in December 2021 and instantly knew that we wanted to order our wedding cake from her! She had us pick our top three flavors for a tasting but to our surprise, she had six flavors for us to sample and each flavor we tried was better than the previous one. We ended up picking a total of 3 flavors because we couldn't decide -- they were all SOSOSO gooooooood! Our cake was absolutely gorgeous, delicious and I'm still getting calls from guests asking if we have any left over cake for them to pick up! Thank you so much, Bethann!

Our wedding cake by Studio Cake was just what we wanted! It was a pleasure to work with BethAnn as she was always very responsive and kind. The tasting process was also easy during these COVID times. My husband and I just arranged a time to pick up a custom sample box from the bakery and tried six different flavors at home. Everything was delicious and we ultimately chose strawberry shortcake. I highly recommend Studio Cake! (Photo: @leophamphotographer)

Where do I even begin. I am not sure how much I am truly adding to the chorus of five-star reviews, only to say that my expectations were high given the rave reviews and they were exceeded. We contacted Studio Cake to create a custom birthday cake for our daughter's first birthday. It was a large outdoor party with the theme of "The Very Hunger Caterpillar", her favorite book. In the past we had gone with the "usual suspects" for wedding and birthday cakes, but this time wanted a special design that we knew had to be done by a specialist. From the outset, BethAnn could not have been more responsive. She was quick to respond and thorough about expectations and timeframes. She engaged with our ideas with nothing but excitement and positivity and made us feel like we were her only client. When it came time to pick up the cake, she was outgoing and friendly and enormously helpful with regards to advising us on how to store it, when to take it out for the party given the weather, and she even threw in a "smash cake" for free. To say the cake was gorgeous and creative is an understatement - you can see our photos to judge for yourself. Not to mention it tasted FANTASTIC. There is no chance we ever go anywhere else in the future. BethAnn and Studio Cake are a class act, extraordinarily talented and creative to boot. You are in amazing hands if you decide to work with them for your birthday or wedding.

We got the cake through Freedom Hall and Gardens Venue - they provided packaged wedding specials. On the day of the event, the cake was immaculate and looked just like the pictures. The chocolate cake was moist and so chocolately delicious! During the cake tasting at Freedom Hall, it was a little dry but the flavors were REALLY good. I figured the cake tasting wouldn't be as fresh as the actual cake anyway and I was right (thank goodness). The spiced apple cake was surprisingly delicious, considering I've never had anything like that before. They were also very responsive and easy to work with. We were cheapo and ordered a simply designed wedding cake (beautiful satin ribbon around each tier) and added our own decorations (orchid flowers and plastic dinosaurs). The cake arrived on time and need I say again, it was delish!

BethAnn nailed it! Our cake was gorgeous and it was the moistest most delicious wedding cake I've ever had. The top tier was gluten free red velvet. Thank you for making such a flawless piece of art! We loved it.

BethAnn did an amazing job! We decided to have a wedding cake very last minute and luckily Studio Cake graciously agreed to help us. I brought a Pinterest picture, the first thing I pinned when planning our wedding, a beautiful and classic white cake with cascading flowers. Studio Cake brought that picture to life. AND the cake tasted amazing! Best gluten free cake ever! The top layer was gf strawberry shortcake and the other layers were their banana cake. Can't wait to order our anniversary cake this year! Thank you Studio Cake

Studio Cake made our wedding cake, and WOW. The bride has a gluten allergy. We tried several gluten free wedding cakes in the SF Bay Area, and Studio Cake's was our favorite. We got so many compliments on our wedding cake - it was truly beautiful (see the attached picture!). Thanks BethAnn! We loved working with you.

We worked with Studio Cake for our wedding, and we were extremely satisfied. The cake was meticulously designed and turned out beautifully, and the toppers were adorable and exactly what we envisioned! We had in mind a twig-and-flowers kind of design with two nesting birds on top, and BethAnn was able to work with us to make that vision happen. Even better, we never imagined we'd be able to get such a unique flavor (guava lava) for our wedding cake, and we received many compliments from our guests about how tasty it was! BethAnn was responsive and friendly, from when we first reached out for our tasting to the day-of, and we found her such a joy to work with. Thank you for making our special day extra special!

End product!

I want to start by saying that no only does Bethann provide exceptional service and communication but the cakes themselves are so so STUNNING. She was so helpful and provided local delivery. The cake was GORGEOUS and the vision we had for my brother's wedding. I cannot recommend this buisness enough!!

Studio Cake was recommended by our wedding planner. BethAnn is wonderfully amazing. She's super talented and creates just STUNNING cakes. She made our Pinterest cake dream come true - in fact it turned out even better than we had ever imagined. We really wanted an impressionist romantic style cake. It tasted delicious - we had a three tiered cake. Guava, Hazelnut and Orange. We would recommend her in a heartbeat. For those looking for beautiful cakes, look no further! (Photo credits go to Micaela Go Photography - also highly recommend her so if anyone is looking for a photographer, she's the person to go to! This photo was taken with film).

Anniversary cake packaged up. They gave great instructions to keep it lovely and delicious.

Studio Cake made our wedding cake last February, and we used them again for our anniversary cake this February. We had a little mishap with our cake topper not making it to our venue because it ended up being too large. Studio Cake originally recommended we put it on the table, but in the whirlwind that is a wedding day it accidentally was left at their shop. I really get the feeling that this sort of thing does not happen to these lovely ladies, because they felt awful, and gave us our anniversary cake for free as an apology. It really was not a big deal, and I also got the feeling that had we had time to alert them the day pf, they would have gotten it there. These women take pride in their yummy beautiful work, and have wonderful customer service. Their shop is adorable too. The cake for our wedding was simply lemon for two layers and simply chocolate for the other. I love love loved the chocolate, and really enjoyed the lemon, but it was just a tad too decadent and sweet for me. For our anniversary we went with a cherry almond that I can't remember the name of, but which was also delicious. The wedding cake they made beautiful with ribbon we matched to our colors and white pearl pins, and the anniversary cake was adorable. I will upload pictures later. Their buttercream is rich and thick and their cake is on the denser side but not dry. Fillings are a tad too sweet for my taste, but perfect for what my husband likes. The cakes are definitely rich, so small slices are satisfying, unlike cheap or bland cakes where people eat a ton without noticing or enjoying the flavors. I recommend doing a tasting with them to choose your flavors. They will deduct the cost of the tasting from your cake. I have heard people complain that tastings should be free, but let's be realistic, if you don't order, that is a big cost for them to put it together and spend the time with you, so it's just good business to charge a small fee to deter people who aren't seriously looking for a cake in the first place. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience with Studio Cake, and wish they were closer to our house so it would be more convenient to order from them more often. The cakes are great, but you really cannot beat their fabulous friendly personalities, and their wonderful customer service. The people themselves, their efforts to get things just right for the customer, and their clear love and enthusiasm for what they do make this business one that I would seek out over the competition.

Studio cake did the cake for my mom's wedding and we couldn't be happier, picking the flavors and the design was so easy and fun with the help of BethAnn (even in this corona times). We loved the taste and also how pretty it looks. I definitely recommend Studio Cake.

We had the hojicha and biscoff ones. Not incredibly busy - a lot of orders were takeout. Cons: A lot of things were out of stock by 1pm but maybe this is due to Mother's Day. Pricey but the items were high quality. Store is a small footprint with limited utilities (no WiFi, bathroom was temporarily out of order). Parking is very difficult- it's on el Camino so the cars are unforgiving if you're trying to parallel park, and the road parallel by a block is not much better. It has an alley and a very cramped space in the back for a lot. Expect to walk.

This location is in the strip of Downtown Palo Alto and has limited parking (similar to the rest of the stores there, there is a lot of parking, and you will need to get lucky). My mom does like the Marvel Cake in their first location, so we swung by here to try this one out! Location-wise, this is a smaller shop than the original one in West San Jose with limited seating inside. I would say it's not work from home friendly however, I did see a college student next to me on her laptop so maybe I am incorrect here! The interior is nice and light, matching the elegance of the desserts. We ordered three items on the menu: the pillow cake, the bisou, and the blueberry lavender roll. Here are some thoughts: * Pillowcase cake: It may seem like this would be a fluffy cake due to the nature of its shape, but it is a gelatinous Jell-O cake with fruit jam. It was not bad, and tasted refreshing and light. I didn't know if I liked it at first, but ultimately I did come back for seconds and thirds, so this is approved. * Blueberry lavender roll cake: This was not at all what we were expecting. I did not taste any lavender, nor did it have a strong blueberry flavor. I think what threw our party off was the layer of gelatin that surrounded the cake. Texturally, we were not a big fan. * Bisou: This one was our favorite one. I appreciated the nutty crust in the bottom layer of the cake, while the filling was soft and bouncy. It is very sweet, however, but overall, I really enjoyed this one and feel like it would go great with a cup of coffee. What made the experience here a 3 instead of a 4 or 5 was the service we got. We weren't greeted when we came in, which, to be fair, is totally fine, maybe they were busy. However, the person helping us stared at us the whole time and did not really communicate well with us. When I tried to order the cakes for my family, they looked bothered that we were there, and I was not sure if they understood what pastries I was ordering because they did not repeat it back to us at all or confirm anything. When I did place the order, they slowly grabbed the plates and looked visually confused, which again, if they wanted to, I could have repeated it back to them. After they gathered everything, they put it in front of us and rang me up. The whole time, they did not say a word to me at all. Did not reconfirm anything, did not acknowledge we were there, did not say thank you. It was a bit strange, and I had to check with my family if it was me or if that was a really weird experience (it wasn't me).
