Checked out **Mr Cake Plus** after hearing some buzz and finally got to try their **Black Forest** and **Butterscotch** cakes. The flavors were interesting -- lots of Indian-inspired touches, which was cool and definitely unique compared to your typical bakery. That said, the overall experience was just *okay* for me. The cakes were decent, but didn't quite wow -- and for the price, I was expecting more. Portions were pretty small, which made the cost feel a bit steep. Still, if you're into fusion-style desserts or looking for something different flavor-wise, it might be worth a visit. Solid concept, but not sure I'd go out of my way to return. read more

We have tried their butterscotch , rasmalai black forest flavour pastries. They are very similar to India ones. Also ordered cake once which was well made They also have limited puff pastries which are great too. It hasnt been busy so service is quick. Ambiance is decent. Never seen people at the restaurant eating. I have always done to go order. read more

I ordered a 1lb vegan cake for my husband's birthday recently. It was a vegan vanilla cake with mango glaze and some strawberries and blueberries for decoration. The flavor was great and the texture was so soft and amazing. I normally don't even eat icing on cakes but this time I did. Awesome cake. I don't remember when was last time I had such yummy mango cake! The coordination was super smooth too. I messaged at their phone# and got response withing 30 min. The manager was very impromptu and made sure all my requirements are met. I was able to place order just 2 days in advance. This place has the best eggless cakes in the bay area. They are very accommodating and they make sure that they deliver your order on time and they are one of the few bakeries who would call you on the day of event and remind you that you have a pick up with them regardless of if you have made the payment before or not. Their snacks also taste amazing. I think before writing this review I have tried each and every cake from them and we order cakes four times a year for some or the other celebrations/ parties and for each of those times cake is from this place. read more

Got their Black Forest cake for my roommate's birthday because she loves a Black Forest and the reviews for that were outstanding here. It was great. Usually we don't happen to finish birthday cake's on the night we first cut them but this was over in a jiffy. "Not too sweet", as they say and pretty authentic. We've also tried some of their other flavors through the pastries and I'd rate them pretty high. Love the Butterscotch as well. Want to try the Pistachio next, and maybe a customized design next time? Actually had a cricket themed cake at another birthday and they had made that well too. Owner was friendly, and the cake was ready ahead of time. Ordered a day ahead. Also tried some of the puffs (veg, paneer) and they were good. Very good business serving high quality cakes! read more

Amazing place. Owner is super responsive and accommodating. Been buying vegan cakes annually (not at Mr. cake) for a birthday for a dairy intolerant family member. Issue is that it's virtually impossible to find a dairy free dessert without it also being vegan and/or gluten free. Mr. Cake said he could make a dairy free cake but also use eggs in the cake mix. Stopped by after a Safeway run. Got 2 puff pastries, ine egg and one of the curry ones. The tablet ordering was down so I ordered it with the front counter guy. It was quick and I brought it home and reheated them in the airfryer. They were sooooooo delicious! A great little snack! Will be back to try out more of their pastries. Didnt get a chance to try any of their cakes though. read more

I bought 5 slices of cakes that were available today, mango, pistachio, butter scotch, pineapple and chocolate. Owner Santoso is super friendly and accommodating. I am looking for a cake for a birthday party, this the tasting. There were not that many cakes on display but Santoso went back inside the kitchen to get me all cakes he had. That was nice. Other than the chocolate, the cakes have the same taste, color, light, not too sweet, and...taste the same. The chocolate actually is about the same but in chocolate color. The mango, to me, had an artificial flavor. The butterscotch is probably has slightly different taste because of the crunch of butterscotch candy. Owner claims that he uses only the fresh ingredients (out of bottle??). I was expecting that the mango cake will at least have some real mango, either in decor or bits and pieces inside, the same with the pineapple., instead you only got the "flavoring" taste. read more

I bumped into this place when I was on a grocery run at the Safeway nearby. I wanted to give it a try since they had Blackforest cake on the menu. Growing up black forest was my favorite cake and I hadn't had it in over 2 decades. I ordered an egg puff and a black forest cake. I went in with no expectations but was pleasantly surprised. The cake was delicious, very light like sponge and fresh exactly how it's supposed to be. Egg puff was alright, the stuffing was lesser than what I expected. Either way, this place didn't disappoint me and I would definitely come back again for more of those blackforest cakes. On the ambiance, it looks like they are still setting up, the place looked dark and deserted. And if you are in the plaza and can't locate this place, look for Alice's smokhouse. read more

Cake was delish. We got the pineapple cake which my family gave the best compliment they could've given aka "this cake isn't too sweet." I would describe it as a pineapple tres leches - that's how moist it was. Customer service can definitely use a rework. I texted Friday and since I needed the cake in 2 days, I called as well. The cake was for a 12:15-12:45pm pick-up and I have no idea what happened even after repeating myself on the phone multiple times, but I came on Sunday at 12:30pm and was shown a slip saying 4pm pick-up. For reference, my text was acknowledged and I mentioned in my text that I called in. I get it, miscommunication can happen but I was made to feel like I was in the wrong when I tried to ask about the cake. The guy working wasn't very pleasant. In all honesty, he could have said "we don't have it ready, but here are other cakes," but he was more focused on telling me I was wrong and to show him the text. I basically had to Google how to un-delete a text to show him I wasn't lying and even after showing him, there was no "oh sorry" "oh there must have been something wrong." End of the day, cakes are good so maybe I will come back and see if their customer service is better next time around. read more

I wanted to order an eggless for my dad who is a vegetarian. This was the only place with really good reviews so we decided to call him (very last minute 6pm the night before) and placed an order. I appreciated the fact he took a last minute cake. The next day I said I could not come in at the original pick up time and I would come in at 5 pm instead and he said no worries. I pull up the place and I'm confused because the directions led me to this plaza but I did not see a sign anywhere. Turns out his is vacating the spot that says Alice's smoke shop don't worry it's not an actual smoke shop. He told us he just moved in about 3 days ago. The place looked like it was going to have a cute aesthetic, Mr. Cake just needs to settle in and cover the background which looks kind of shabby. As for professionalism, he was better than most Indian bakeries but still not the best. He told me he sold the cake he made for me earlier and baked a new one since I was coming in later. I was like oh.. okay. It was just the fact I had to wait an extra 10 minutes for him to decorate the new cake he baked. I appreciate the fact he baked a new cake so it would be fresher but I was trying to get back home as soon as possible. I got the cake and when I got home it realized it was kind of small for the price of $32. I was expecting at least a double layer for 8 inch cake. It seemed like the layers were there but they were smaller. The taste however was what saved this review from being 3 stars or less. The mango taste was refreshing and Mr. Cake has a talent for baking without egg. One problem I had was since he had to rush to decorate the cake the decorations were a bit subpar. In the photo you can see a part of the cake was not iced properly. Overall, once his shop gets set up and his sign gets changed, he is one of the best Indian eggless bakers in my opinion. read more

$57 gets you this "Hello Kitty" (?!) cake, and as a bonus it causes your kid to cry. Called to complain and were told it was our fault. So disappointed. Won't be coming back anytime soon. Wouldn't recommend. The above stands but I upped it a star since the cake tastes really good. read more

I literally said "oh my god" when I took my first bite lol how embarrassing. I tried the paneer puff, mawa cake, and mango cake. - The paneer puff was perfect after re-warming it in the toaster oven -- good amount of filling and spices just right. And the pastry itself was light and not overly oily like puff pastry can sometimes get. - The mawa cake was also perfectly spiced with cardamom and was super satisfying (dense but in the right way when you just want some cake)! It would go well with your fav breakfast drink. - Mango cake was light with a good balance of cake, cream, and mango I would definitely come back to try more! This small little Indian bakery makes amazing eggless and regular cakes with flavors like mango, butterscotch, and chocolate! Last minute, I was able to call in and place an order for a 6 inch mango cake, that was also eggless. The cake was ready and made on time, enough for me to pick it up right before dinner. The cake itself was delicious and had the perfect amount of mango and cream. Surprisingly, the cake wasn't heavy at all but tasted delicious. This was previously California Mochi, I believe, which is why finding this place might be confusing but google maps will lead you to the correct place! read more

Wow- really impressive cake to be found at Mr. Cake Plus! Located in the former California Mochi location in a small strip mall in Mountain View, Mr. Cake Plus serves a variety of different cakes (butterscotch, pineapple, mango, carrot, black forest, chocolate, mocha), cookies, and even savory treats. I was skeptical of all the rave reviews, but I love cake and decided to swing by recently. I ordered a cake through the phone as i was in socal last year and I scheduled with the owner to get it delivered through a door dash to my husband . He was nice and did everything I asked for. I didn't get to try back then but i did give them a visit today and omg the cake was so good. Its the best black forest cake i ever tried. Something that tastes unique I don't know what but its just great! Going to visit again as am dying to try the pistachio cake but they ran out of it today. read more

My friend and I were walking and she noticed there was a new dessert shop open. We decided to check it out. It used to be the California Mochi shop. The lady working said they opened up recently. She was very friendly and answered our questions. I tried a piece of the chocolate cake! It was so delicious! Nice, fluffy, and moist. It was not too sweet either for being chocolate. Communication is really stressful with this place. One of the guys expects you to speak in Hindi , and if not doesn't respond or cuts the call. I finally got through and placed an order with a different person, who said he'll call me back in 10 minutes to confirm. Never called back. So I called the day of when they opened and they said they never had an order but to come in and they'd have a cake (which was nice). My friends go to pick up the Rasmalai cake, and the place is so dirty. My friend said he found a cockroach. And that was enough for me to not even try the cake. It is NOT clean, and I can't believe they keep running their business this way. read more

The staff member put these both in a tiny bag. I had to ask to have the mango sticky rice croissant placed in a box - not happy to do this. Somehow, I think there has been a drop in quality of pastry at Alexander's Patisserie. For the price, that's not good.

I recently ordered two eggless cakes for my son's birthday from Mr. Cake Plus and both were absolutely delicious! One was chocolate and the other was strawberry. The texture was so moist, each bite just melted in my mouth. The sweetness was perfectly balanced, not too overpowering, and you could tell they were made with fresh ingredients. At 1:30 PM (with the party starting at 6:00 PM and everything else going on), I suddenly realized the cake still hadn't shown up. I texted them to ask where it was, and got the reply: "OMG, I'm so sorry, the system canceled and refunded your order so we didn't have it for today." Right as that text came through, I got the refund notification--they had literally just refunded it. When I called, their reaction was shockingly casual. No real apology, no explanation, and when I asked if they could throw together any cake at the last minute so we at least had something, they just said no. Luckily, my amazing husband scrambled and managed to find another bakery to save the day with a simple cake on super short notice. But from Zibatreats? Absolutely nothing.
