I was out running errands when the shield underneath the engine became partially detached. Not the most severe thing to have to take care of, but immediately necessary. I stopped by two nearby shops that told me to either come back in two days or two hours with no guarantee they'd get to it anytime soon. When a friend suggested Studio Custom, i figured that the work i needed would be too minor for them to accommodate--i was so wrong. What do you do when your drivers seat car door falls off it's alignment, causing you to hold the door closed with one hand as you attempt to drive to work with your other hand, praying that a cop doesn't see you? Happened to me on Thursday a little after noon. I drove to work and was unsuccessful at getting the door closed, thus I called off from work and drove to my mechanic (Rick at Union 76) to see if there was anything he could do or suggest. He suggested I take the car literally up the street to Steve at Studio Custom Auto Body. Once there, l walk over to a 40 year old guy named Steve (also the owner) with black hair and an accent. Before I can even explain to him what happened, he shouts out what is wrong with my car. Holy crap how did he know, I know Rick didn't have a moment to call him. Steve is high energy but with a big smile which help assure you that everything will be all right. Thus I leave the car with him and decide to kill the next 4 hours at my comic book store (Universal Comics) thus I make the walk towards Ventura Blvd. 4 o' clock rolls around and I head back to the body shop, with my car waiting for me and my bill. I got 3 quotes. They matched my middle bid. Sadly they were very busy and my 4 day repair turned into 8 However they did the repair as promised. One bid via my insurance company was triple the amount (repair shop at Oak and Victory in Burbank). I was talked into just one more bid. I am very happy I was. Their pricing for repairs is well worth bringing your car here. As a extra touch they buffed out my headlight making them like new. I had such a great experience going to this body shop. Two of my tires had air pressure problems as the light was on in my car for some time. I took my car to their shop after work, they were about to close their shop, however Steve took my car in, and took a look at it. They found nails in both tires, took them out and had my tires repaired. He didn't charge me anything for his time and work! Can you believe that? I took my car to this place after getting rear-ended. This place came with glowing reviews from a couple girlfriends. THIS WAS THE WORST IDEA! This place was awful. I went to pick up my car and the transmission was messed up, my heater was blowing with a horrible howling noise, and he fixed my brakes on my car without my permission! then charged me for this. I had to pick my car up from this place and take it directly to DODGE and get the transmission repaired, my brakes fixed (YES BECAUSE THEY WERE NEVER DONE) and the heater area had paper stuck in it. He claims they didn't pull my car apart however he did. Oh and my alarm needed to be reset because that didn't work either. I borrowed a friend's 2008 Toyota Prius for a couple of months and the back trunk rubber covering over the trunk latch melted off the car one day (I assume from the heat). I started looking this issue up online and found that a lot of Prius owner's were having the same problem. I called Toyota but they wouldn't recognize this as a 'defect', so I was forced to pay out of pocket to fix the car. I went to Toyota and they wanted a lot of money to fix it. It's frustrating enough that I have to fix something that is an obvious car defect, but to have to pay a ridiculous amount of money to fix something I didn't break is even more frustrating. On a friend's recommendation, I went to Studio Custom Auto Body Shop and spoke to Steve. He gave me a very fair and reasonable price to fix the handle and he was able to order the part and fix it within a couple of hours. When the job was complete, the trunk handle looked good as new! I would highly recommend this shop and Steve was very nice to deal with. If my friend's ask me for a recommendation on a good shop, I will definitely send them Steve's way. read more

This place was recommended by a friend of mine who had some great custom mods performed on his car. He was raving about the service, quality and honest price and it looked great so I decided to give them a shot on some minor custom work I was planning on my new BMW. I brought the car over and realized that the front showroom was Barris Customs own! If you don't know who George Barris is than you need to look him up but among many projects he was the creator of the original Adam West batmobile. Very cool. I explained what I wanted done they said they would have it done relatively quickly and estimate of cost was good, like I said it was minor work for this visit so I was just happy a good establishment was doing the work because the last thing I wanted was damage on the factory new and flawless paint. They walked through my future ideas patiently, asked questions and even why - they offered advice going to the extent of advising against some work I was suggesting, they also explained their reasoning and I felt confident they knew exactly what they were doing and had my best interests in mind (or more so the car's, they love their work and only like to do a good job so they have a vested interest that it looks cool or even cooler than my ideas)! They even advise to bring your own parts! The work was done well and fast they told me if anything comes up or if I wasn't satisfied about something to bring it back to ensure my exact specifications and look were met. These guys are really in it for the love of cars and customization, I even saw some collision work being done and I could absolutely understand why someone would get that work done their too, it would come out like the manufacturer intended! read more

I had an accident a while back, tow truck took my car to this 10811 Riverside on N Hollywood, when I went there to inquire about my car, the guy at the office said I had to fix the car with him because the insurance co said so, I did not know how insurances and repair shops worked, so I believe him. He knew the ins would give a check, and so he charged whatever the ins would pay, not what the repair was worth, this shop didn't even do a decent repair, the door replacement was damaged too. He lied big time and deceived me just for the insurance money. Tow truck driver surely was in it too, pick up cars in accidents and rush them to this shop, he gets his cut.
