Meanwhile, the group ahead of us had already started late and was still halfway down the fairway. So instead of addressing the actual delay, he chose to come after a group of women who were right on time and still in the process of teeing off. Completely unnecessary and not a great look. He even told us we couldn't take practice swings. At that point, it stops being about pace of play and starts feeling like we're just being singled out and rushed for no reason. It felt targeted, unprofessional, and honestly pretty disrespectful. Being rushed before you've even started sets the tone for the entire round--and not in a good way. To top it off, every green had just been freshly aerated. That's understandable for maintenance, but it absolutely affects play, and there was zero heads-up about it. Paying to putt on punched greens while also being rushed off the first tee? Not exactly a great experience. The irony is that when we finished, he told us we kept a great pace of play. So clearly his snap judgment was wrong--and he couldn't even acknowledge it or apologize. If you're going to manage pace, do it fairly and accurately. And if the course conditions aren't great, be upfront about it. This felt like poor management all around.

Last weekend, while my son was driving on Jamul Drive, a golf ball struck his vehicle and shattered the windshield. He went to the pro shop and spoke with Alan, one of the managers, hoping for some guidance or assistance. Instead, Alan offered no help, showed very little concern, and made my son feel as though the incident was somehow his fault. I understand that the course may not accept direct responsibility for every stray golf ball, but basic customer service and compassion should still matter. At the very least, Steele Canyon could have offered a few rounds of golf or some other gesture to help offset the unexpected cost of replacing the windshield. After living here and supporting the course for so many years, the complete lack of concern was extremely disappointing. From now on, we will gladly drive a little farther to play at a course that values its neighbors and customers. Thank you, Alan and Steele Canyon Golf Club, for showing us exactly how little our support means.

Membership is $45 for Silver and $60 for Gold, though pricing can change so it's worth checking their website. The best value is the daily bucket of balls and $8 weekday walking rounds.

One of the things I appreciate most is that I never feel rushed when I play here. Chuck and his team do a great job of keeping the good vibes going. Another big plus is that there are always pros readily available for coaching and training on the range. I've worked with a couple of them, and both on-course and off-course lessons have helped my game tremendously. If you're looking for a course that will help improve your game while still being a fun and relaxed place to play, this is definitely the spot.

My son enjoyed the tournament play and his time with Future Champions Golf helped him with life skills that has contributed to his success today. He still plays in tournaments but they are charity tournaments in which he supports causes and has a good time. Still manages to drive the ball over 300 yards and score in the 70's with limited play. We were lucky to have him participate in this program in the early days. We still follow Chris on social media and are impressed on how this program has developed into one of the premier youth golf programs in the nation. FCG has lessons, 3-day camps, instructors located at the Stadium Golf Center. I put my 6 year old son in the full day 3-day golf camp. The days were long and hot (bring sunscreen, apply sunscreen, wear cool clothes and a nice ball cap). Your child will be in the son most of the day. They provide water and a pizza lunch when you join the camps. You get a full days worth on the driving range, chipping and putting as well. The camps have about 10-12 kids (boys and girls). My son instructor was Taft Spain. He was cool. Very patient with the kids as well. Good times. Hope my son sticks with golf...! :)

Very disappointing experience with the starter and customer service…read more My friends and I came to enjoy a casual round of golf and were respectful throughout our visit. After we had already paid, the starter, Jim, stopped our group and told us that a friend who was accompanying us on foot would need to pay the full green fee as well as additional fees for a cart and clubs. This was particularly frustrating because he was recovering from a broken back and only intended to walk the course. Jim then approached other members of our group and informed them that each player needed to have a full set of clubs or they would not be allowed to play. These requirements were not communicated before payment and felt unnecessarily rigid. Overall, the experience left us with the impression that the staff was more focused on maximizing charges than providing a welcoming customer experience. We were simply looking for an enjoyable and affordable round of golf, but the way these issues were handled made the experience very disappointing.

When I talked to him before my first session my goals were simple, not lose as many balls and get rid of the slice. Can confirm I was able to improve on both aspects of my game quickly. I was able to break 100 now and that's with only iron lessons. Will look to get some driver & chipping lessons in the future! The price is steep but it's felt like a great investment so far!
