Dalton has been a fantastic instructor. He is THE one that got me out on the golf course. Can't thank him enough for giving me a healthy addiction! Dalton used video analysis which was great in order to show you what to adjust or what you were not doing correctly. We used an APP over the Internet and it's ease of use allowed us to efficiently communicate. In person Dalton was very patient, never got frustrated when you were doing something wrong over and over and helped you correct those bad habits to get your game fixed. Dalton just moved to San Diego so it's a great loss to the Bay Area golfing community so our loss is now someones huge gain in San Diego. 11 strokes off my handicap in 2 months! I'm 40 years old and didn't start golf until I was 35. I took a few basic lessons that showed me how to hold the club and make contact most of the time. I was content with not keeping score and having a few beers. Then I decided to start taking golf more serious. My swing was somewhat effective but ugly and inconsistent. Dalton has been my coach for ~3 months. When we started, I was BRAND NEW to golf. I had a goal to play an 18 hole/par 72 course by March, but I needed professional help. During my first lesson, Dalton was very professional, but kept the spirit of the lesson casual. He asked me about my other skillsets/what sports I play, and would use knowledge of those sports to coach me in my language. highly recommend Dalton! I am a mid to high handicap that struggled with the standard slice, chunk, top, etc. I never knew where my next iron shot was going to end up and was tired of watching my drives slice into a different zip code. After working with Dalton, I thoroughly understand what happens with each miss and how to correct it. I worked with Dalton for about one and a half years when he worked in the SF Bay Area and I was sad to see him go. In short, I came to Dalton shooting in the mid to high 90s and following his instruction, I now confidently shoot in the mid to low 80s (I even broke 80 once). His teaching, in a word, is transformational. I don't know if his approach is the same with every student, but with me, he evaluated my swing and set about fixing it piece by piece. I have taken lessons from many teachers in my 30+ years of golfing. There is none better than Dalton and it was a privilege to be his student for almost 3 years. Dalton has the ability to know how to work with students to focus on just the right tips at the right moment and not overload the student with too many changes all at one time. Dalton can pinpoint what problem to work on and how to fix it, give clear demonstrations, uses videos very effectively to highlight flaws and corrections, and knows what works for one golfer and not another. Dalton is everything you'd hope for in an instructor. I started out with no prior golf experience and couldn't even get the ball off the ground but in the 2.5 months that I was in San Diego, he helped me develop the fundamentals to have confidence in my swing and I'm now able to do a full 18 holes all while having fun and staying competitive with my friends. Dalton has a number of qualities that make him a great instructor, but what stood out to me most was his ability to breakdown concepts without it feeling overbearing and his positive attitude and clear love for golf that made each session fun and something to look forward to. Being new to golf, there's a world of knowledge that was beyond me, but he knew how to keep me focused and taught me just what I needed to know so that I could make specific, incremental improvements when I practiced on my own. However, whenever I had burning questions about the science or thought process behind certain concepts, he always had an answer and it was clear that he has a thorough and technical understanding of the game. This is definitely turning into a bit of an obsession for me and I have no doubt that's in no small part because each session with Dalton was so enjoyable. Even outside of our lessons, Dalton was always responsive by text / email, whether it was rescheduling a lesson, asking for a practice plan for the driving range, providing video analysis of my swing through a simple to use phone app, or connecting me with someone from Golf Mart to help me buy my first set of golf clubs. Wow! To my improved game. If you want to work on any part of your game I highly recommend Dalton. I most appreciated that he worked with my existing golf swing and enhanced how I approach the game. I have had lessons from some coaches who tried to get me to adopt their swing, but Dalton worked with my swing as it is. And then he worked to make improvements instead of adopting his swing. And it WORKED! My game has improved several strokes and I feel more confident that I will keep the ball in play. I was one of the first students of Dalton's when he came to Lake Chabot several years ago. Always being heavily into sports, I never had any interest in golf, but on a whim decided I'd like to give it a shot, especially with retirement looming in a couple of years, so over spring break I met up with Dalton and that week I think I had five lessons in five days. I was hooked! I have also been a public high school teacher for close to thirty years and was thoroughly impressed by several things about Dalton's teaching style: 1) immensely knowledgeable, 2) adaptable, 3) extremely patient (maybe most important, especially when teaching golf!), 4) honesty, 5) having high, but not unrealistic expectations, 6) consistently supportive, and 7) being innovative while making it fun. Most teachers possess some of these qualities, but few all of them. Because I was having so much fun and slowly improving, I became a golf addict and over the course of the last four years turned my game into one where I would at least not embarrass myself on the course, eventually shooting in the low- mid 90s. I took probably close to 100 lessons with Dalton over the years and it's possible that I would have given up the sport had I not worked with him, because as everyone knows, the frustration level can be over the top if things don't go well, as they often do, regardless of one's level. While I had many of those moments, they were minimized, in no small part because of Dalton's innate ability to observe and prescribe a remedy that would typically fix some aspect of my game, while always reminding me that golf is not easy for anyone and each day brings new challenges. When progress came, it was thrilling, but I don't think it would have happened as it did if I worked with another instructor. As strange as it sounds, I was offered the job as golf coach at my high school, but basically I just managed and organized the team, but one of the smartest moves I made was to have Dalton work with them once a week and that paid huge dividends. Without fail, each of my players improved, with many seeing Dalton for private lessons during the off season. Dalton is terrific. If you are considering lessons -and I believe golfers at any level would be much better served with more lessons and less new equipment, Dalton is the perfect choice. He's focused, encouraging and, thankfully, doesn't give you a dozen things to think about. Yesterday, as I warmed up, Dalton was working with a woman new to the game. He tailored his approach accordingly. 1 or 2 items and she walked away feeling really good about her progress -which isn't easy to do with a game that can be beyond frustrating. The lesson after me, was a golfer fresh of a trip with his friends who he said marveled at how much he improved after his lessons w Dalton. After previous rounds filled with chunks and blocks, he was over-the-top in his praise. I overheard him say that after each good shot he hit his friends would shout, 'Limberg!!' In honor of the coach's work. It was great to hear a student bubbling w excitement at how far he's come. For me, it's very straightforward: 6'3 , athletic and flexible, you need to be ripping your driver with a penetrating ball flight. You can't be guiding it out there.
