I've been going to Studio J for all my spa services ever since it was recommended to me by a friend. In the past 2.5 years, I've almost made my way through the entire service offering, having had massages (yay Kristy!), waxing, manicures, facials, spray tans, lash tinting and pedicures. Every service has been delivered professionally by friendly, thorough and well trained staff. I'm especially fond of the facials, the massages and the wonders of gelish pedicures! I like that Studio J is small enough that you get to know the staff and they in turn get to know you, but it's big enough that the amenities are there and if one staff member is booked, there are others who can take your appointment. I'm also happy to see that staff turnover is low - it makes me think that the staff find it a rewarding place to be as well. Kudos to Jillian for building a wonderful business on Jasper Ave. I'm a huge fan of this locally-owned gem and recommend it heartily. read more

Being a university student, I watch where my money goes very closely. Paying for services that I could do myself (with obviously not as much skill) is something I never did, but decided to splurge on finally. I had always wanted to get waxing done, but was terrified to do so cause of the pain I have heard others say it is. I got my waxing done here with Kristen, and while it was not pain less (common...ripping hair out of your nether regions...not supposed to tickle)...I do think Kristen did an amazing job. She talked me through it and explained everything as she went along. She was really nice and also fun to chat with, which made me comfortable and relax. I never felt embarrassed or too much pain...so I would highly recommend her to anyone else that needs waxing. Very impressed with the salon layout as well. read more

I have been going to studio j since the beginning of time! The girls are awesome! Amazing! And the work they do is top notch! Kristi's massage's are out of this world! Whether u want something relaxing or to work u over. Kirsten is meticulous in everything she does. Briane does the best waxing! April is new to the fold but Jillian wouldn't bring her on board if she was less than perfect! And then there is AMANDA, besides her awesome everything, there is a reason she has been part of the studio j team for soooo long! And if you are lucky enough to have Jillian do your services then u will NEVER go anywhere else! I highly highly recommend studio j, u wouldn't regret it! Epilfree Hair Removal Although the staff are awesome, and I'm sure the other spa services are great, if you are considering Epilfree hair removal that Studio J offers, DON'T DO IT! I did 15 treatments on my face and there was no improvement. The owner kept making it seem as though I was alone in the treatment not working, when the staff definitely agreed with me that it was a useless treatment. I'm out over 1000 bucks with zero results. Jillian, the owner, did give me 6 free sessions to try and correct the mistake, but what should have been done is a refund. The studio shouldn't be still offering and promoting the Epilfree treatment considering the staff made it pretty evident that it wasn't a success with hardly anyone. read more

I visited a lot of different spas in Edmonton before I discovered Studio J and I was so happy when I did! I always found turn over in staff at other spas to be concerning and the level of professionalism to be lacking, but not at Studio J. You can tell that the staff are committed to doing quality work and enjoy their work environment. They are also very friendly! I book my waxing services with Kristin and am always happy with her work. She's always concerned about my comfort and doesn't rush. The RMT, Kristy, is also fantastic! It's a huge plus that Studio J is right around the corner from where I live, and would also be convenient for anyone who can hop on the LRT and get to central station. I went with a friend to we both got facials. The facial was good for my friend, she had a girl named Carmen Riviera I believe. However, I got a girl named Amanda who did not give me good customer service. She charged me 30$ extra for my facial and forgot to mention the extra charge. She bitterly said that she did not have time to give me a shoulder massage, which was included because she did not have time. Meanwhile she had left the room for 20min while I just waited there. Afterwords, I explained to her that I was frustrated because she hadn't mentioned the extra charge and I was treated like a liar. She did not offer me anything for satisfaction. I had to call the owner. It was a very frustrating experience!!!!! read more

I had been on the lookout for a new spa location for a long time. As a result of a work christmas party event i have enjoyed going to Studio J. Their RMT Kristy Nanise is excellent. Supremely knowledgeable and professional and able to recommend and suggest a massage style that is custom to your needs. I also can only speak good things about Amanada, who completed a wonderful massage for me and subsequently, that evening I got engaged! I have been to Studio J a number of times and was always very pleased with the service. I was in to see April a couple of weeks ago for a pedicure and HOLY MACKEREL they don't come any better than April. She was absolutely meticulous and produced the most excellent pedicure I can ever remember receiving. All I have to say is if you want a fantastic massage, go see Kristy! She has been my primary and BEST RMT for the past several years. My body gives me a lot of grief and is usually in rough shape when I go see her for a deep tissue massage. By the time I leave, I am always in a much better state. Had an amazingly relaxing facial and beautiful gelish pedicure done by my favorite esthetician April :) The whole experience was pleasant and professional from the atmosphere to the products to the warm & fuzzy robes.
