I used Studio LaRue for both the makeup and hairdos for myself (the bride!) and for my family for my wedding day. I was planning my Memphis wedding from Chicago, so I needed to work with a beauty salon that was responsive, easy to work with, and able to produce a stunning look without a trial hair and makeup session. My hair and makeup were done by Brooke, who made me look gorgeous and was wonderful to talk to while sitting in a chair for a few hours. I called the studio to book my appointment 3 months out, and then Brooke followed up with me personally over text to check in and set up a styling plan. I brought in a few pictures of styles that I liked and Brooke tried a couple of looks and ideas before we settled on a perfect curled, casual updo. I also am very pale and freckled, so was worried about the look of heavy foundation making me look markedly different. Brooke suggested air makeup (for a $25 up charge), but the look was so much more natural and flawless that it was absolutely worth it. While I did not have bridesmaids, they did the mom's hair with short but stylish looks. (Not over the top, but elegant.) Studio LaRue sent three people (1 could only stay an hour) to my hotel room to take care of 5 hair updos and 3 makeup sessions, for a total of $750. (I think prices as $65 for bridal makeup, which includes brows and fake lashes and $75 for an updo.) They were a little pricey, but the ladies were professional and everyone looked wonderful. All hair and makeup was completed with time to spare. Would absolutely recommend Studio LaRue (Brooke is great if you can book her) for a bride looking for a professionally done look. read more

I Purchased a gift card for my wife for her birthday in June 2018. The facility is still not honoring the $75 gift card seven months later. Would never recommend them to anyone and kindly ask that everyone boycott studio Larue until they honor gift cards that they sold and pocketed the cash for. I have called multiple times to which the owners have not responded. I have had to file a Better Business Bureau complaint as well. read more

It's been a while since I went here, but I remember this horror story well. YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR A SPECIAL APPOINTMENT TO HAVE YOUR HAIR DRIED! Yep. That's right. So, if you call and ask for a haircut, they will send you out the door with wet hair in winter. Apparently, stylists don't need to see your hair dry to make sure everything looks good, they just assume that it will. I asked if I could get my hair dried and they said I could do it myself, but their stylist didn't have time to do so. I have never gone back and will never. read more

Literally my new obsession. Obsessed. Like really and truly obsessed. Because I only paid $1,000 for hair extensions and they are literally the best hair extensions I've ever had. Keep in mind, I lived in LA for 4 years and went where the stars went. And these are better. Like I permanently have Kardashian sex hair and I love it. I've had a love hate relationship with hair salons all over town but this place is great...and literally next door to my office. They also have a medical spa upstairs...can't wait to check that baby out! read more

I have been going to Studio La Rue for several years, now, and have had some great experiences! I highly recommend the hair services (cut, color, blowout, style, up-do), makeup and the facials. I have long hair and my stylist is David. He does a very nice layered cur for me and also does the best blowouts! I had my wedding hair done from a stylist at this salon, also. She was very willing to work with me and we did several trial runs before the big day. (Will post Photos soon!) It only gets 4 stars because the nail and massage services weren't as good as the rest of the items they offer; but for hair and face pampering, you are in good hands!! read more

Based on my previous review, I received a very speedy response from Tina, the manager of Studio La Rue. Based on her email, I would be glad to give them another chance at my business if I was not completely satisfied with my current salon. Tina was very receptive and interested in providing satisfactory customer service and I appreciate that immensely. As my last appointment attempt was a year ago, you may no longer experience the same thing. I also like the fact that they offer their customers a signature facial for a referral of a new customer. I will consider them again for a service my current salon does not offer. read more

I got my hair done at your salon on Thursday 4/6/17 by Miriam and spent $130. I left and hated the color and noticed there was highlights randomly on my baby hairs by my forehead, and the highlights were some weird copper color. I had rescheduled for the first available with Amy to Monday (she did my hair before) but I couldn't wait the whole weekend. So I went to another salon yesterday for them to fix. I just got off the phone with one of your receptionists and when I told her why I needed to cancel the Monday appointment, she was like "okay I got you cancelled for Monday" and so I said I would like to have a refund, I spent $130, so then she said "okay hold on". She got back on the phone and I said I can't believe like you didn't even apologize that my hair was messed up or even try to offer a refund, that's odd, like your just like okay whatever. She then said 'we'll have to call you back, were doing a bridal party'. I'm sorry, but that is not good customer service, after I was dissatisfied with my hair and then not to take care of it right away and put me off. I would like to have a full refund. The hair stylist Miriam that did my hair just called me and said I should've had her fix it. Why would I have the same person correct it if they couldn't color it correct in the first place. Also, fyi that makes a client very uncomfortable to have the stylist call them like that. If you have policies, then I am sure there is a manager that works there or even the owner that should've called me. I assume the stylist called me to pacify me. When I mentioned how the receptionist was, she said she's only 16. Yeah ummm I didn't hire her and good job on bad mouthing your co-worker. She also said it's not your policy to issue a refund. If I were to be rating the stylist I worked with it would be a 5 star rating. However, I do have to rate my overall experience. I used this salon for my bridal hair and make up. Jana is AMAZING! Highly recommend working with her. My hair and make up was flawless on the day of my wedding. However this salon apparently doesn't keep finishing spray available and the my make up started running half way into my wedding ceremony due to weather. The woman who handles the brides is another story. Very unorganized. She tried to charge me an extra 50.00 the day of which I wasn't having. She tried to pull my stylist away from working on me to take care of another bride and her bridesmaids. Totally unprofessional. Use this place with caution, especially if you're a bride. If you can work with Jana she will make your vision a reality. But bring your own finishing spray for your make up. read more

Delores is the best!!! My mom, sister, and I have been going to her years and she has never let us down. She colors my hair into the perfect blonde shade, with it still looking natural and not fake. She has also always styled my hair for events, and even when I don't know what I want, she always knows! Highly recommend going to her! read more

I have always had very straight hair and went in for a body, loose wave perm. I showed pictures of what I wanted and she seemed to understand. However, I now have frizzy tight curls and no clue what to do with curly hair. Everyone agrees it wasn't what I asked for even if they say it isn't "that bad". Ever since Stephanie left Studio Larue the quality of services have gone down. Occasionally I still come here for a massage, but that's the only service I'll pay for here. I had gotten a facial with my mother awhile back and it was the farthest thing from relaxing that I've ever had. They were way too rough on my neck, talked the entire time when I had politely said that I really wanted to relax before the treatment began, and it was just really anything but. The woman who did my facial was really sweet but I really, really didn't want to talk, just wanted to relax. She told me all about her family and her drama with her children and it was a really uncomfortable conversation. she had put a mask on my face and then massaged it off so it was crumbling on my face and getting in my eyes. The table/chair thing I was on wasn't locked so I kept feeling like I was moving (because I was) and my neck was tense the whole time. She used far too much pressure on my neck which was just really uncomfortable and I didn't feel like my skin had improved by the end of the treatment. I definitely won't be coming back. read more

The salon itself is very cute and clean, but I went to Feras because he came very highly recommended. I ignored his poor Instagram pictures thinking that he'll be able to get my hair the color I really want it to be. I should've asked around to know how terrible he actually is. He doesn't take the client's opinion into consideration and he's very terrible with customer interactions. His assistant was very nice and funny, I wish I could've just payed her because she did a lot of my color that day. I was told that questioning him would be a waste of my time. He apparently isn't known for haircuts because he can't get it even and will take an extra few inches off trying to fix his mistakes. Two days after my appointment, I went to another salon and paid them to fix my hair because I would rather be bald than let him touch my hair ever again. read more

WORST place ever to get your eyebrows done. The young lady that I let wax my brows did everything I told her NOT to do. I literally drove home in tears. After spending 3+ months only getting minor touch ups to my brows so I can grow them out and get the perfect shape, I come to this place and get my brows butchered. She was not very professional, inexperienced and did not listen to what I wanted. My advice as far as brows are concerned, go somewhere else! read more

This is for MASSAGE ONLY and I wish I could give it zero stars. I came to this salon because I wanted to give a place close to my home a try. I have NEVER had a worse massage from a professional. I cannot recall the woman's name but I think it was Shashona (or something like that). She had the roughest hands I have ever felt in a massage therapist. Her draping of my body during the "massage" meant she left off basically half of my upper legs, my lower back and my upper arms and shoulders. The draping was distracting and very unnecessary. She used absolutely no massage techniques and far tooooo little lotion. It was little more than a half effort at touching that became an annoyance - like fingernails on a chalkboard. The highlight of the massage was when she LEFT half way through the massage to go to the restroom for a long period of time. This is the first time I have ever been actually irritated DURING a massage. I could not relax because I just wished it was over already. An hour lying on the table for a nap would have beat this massage by a mile! I would NEVER go back for a massage with this lady. I thought she must have just graduated from school but I saw her licenses. One expired in 2010 and the new one in 2012 so I assume she has been doing this for at least a year or two. Bottom line: her touch felt more like a clumsy callused weightlifter than a professional bringer of relaxation through healing hands. read more
