Was recommended this place and it was definitely an experience! My friend and I went on a tuesday and luckily got the discounted tix which made this extra worth it. The place is hugeee with plenty of seating. Not to mention my drink was gigantic and lasted me throughout the entire movie. You can order food during the movie and we got the meal for 2. Super filling as you get an appetizer two entrees and a dessert. Seats are super comfortable and the servers weren't as big of a distraction as I thought. Would recommend!!

We've gone a few more times since my last review. Parking is always easy. We arrive early to order our food. My daughter loves the kids pizza. It comes with a chocolate chip cookie. I'm a sucker for their soft pretzel bites! One of our favorite spots to watch a movie.

I've wanting to go here for years - but distance was always the excuse to not swing by. Not anymore! Booked a reservation online - simple. Ample parking late on a weekday evening. We were greeted right away and got our tickets. When walking in, the ambiance was really nice. Very clean. There weren't too many people but I see that it can accommodate a lot of people with all the seating. After finding our seat, we immediately went for the 2 entree deal. I ordered chicken and waffles and a pitcher. For the side, we got nachos. Food: it was okay. I'll admit, I wasn't expecting larger chicken strips. The maple syrup was very rich (good thing) but I probably will stick with a burger or other normal items in the future when I swing by. Plenty of nachos. Another few very minor gripes - no reclining seats and space to place all the food. That being said, the service was phenomenal! Although there were only 20-30 people watching the movie at the time, I saw all the workers running around and were very attentive + picking up empty plates and taking additional orders. Overall, I'll be back! Great experience!

Went to an early show of Avatar 3 on Saturday. Had the honey spice pizza. It was tastier than the margherita pizza. Seats are comfy. Though the feet rest only has 1 up position. It's not adjustable like other theaters. I wish the seats were heated as well. On the downside, the bathrooms were unexpectedly dirty for an early showing. Please make sure the bathroom floors get mopped.

Our server was really good and accommodating. We did the $35 dollar deal (one appetizer, 2 entrees and for $5 more you can add a dessert). We got popcorn, which has a slightly richer butter flavor than other theaters, in my opinion. My sliders were good, but I'm super sensitive to salt and mine needed a lot of my Moscow Mule to wash it down! Fries are seasoned and soo good! We also ordered beignets (not part of the $5 dessert option) but still totally worth it. The chairs have been upgraded since I last came here, but the reclining is clunky and loud (although is it louder than the mechanical sound of holding down the button...not sure ) also doesn't recline as much as other chairs. I'm short so I always love studio seating!

Garlic hot wings with fries .. wings were a bit salty but not bad overall

Staff is amazing .. food is great.. movie was scary lol ( conjuring last rites) .. the seats were comfy but i wish it declined a little bit more. For dinner I had the all meats pizza I added hot honey and basil to my pizza.. it was delicious! The cheese pull was great! Will definitely order again. My friend had the garlic hot wings .. it was a little on the salty end but overall not too bad. Movie was good.. had a few jump scares .. but knowing it was based on a true story was scary enough to think people went thru that. Two thumbs up for my first experience and movie at studio movie grill Rocklin

Haven't been here in quite a while. Came back twice to watch movies and use our GC. Service definitely exceeds expectations. I love how the servers are attentive to each customers needs. Food can do with a little less salt. Overall, I will come back. May need to make changes to their menu once in a while and season accordingly. Seats may also need to be updated.

Studio Movie Grill is my personal favorite choice when going to the movies. I've been here quite a few times now. You sit down and when you're ready to order you press a button on your tray. The service is always good. When there are issues the staff is quick to resolve them. The food is pretty good too. I usually order the chili lime chicken wrap, without the chicken. My husband gets a variety of items but recently it has been the wings! The seats are super comfortable. They recline allowing you to really relax while watching the movie. You also have the tray to eat and drink on. Overall, the experience is well worth it!

First of all, the movie Sinners is worth seeing! I like the concept of drinking and dining while watching a movie. Ambiance 3/5- it was typical. I can't put my finger on it but sitting at a table, eating and watching a movie, sounds better than the actual experience. After I ate, I wanted to recline a bit. But I was stuck at the table in a dining chair. Service 4/5-it was good but we felt rushed to order because our server told us he would be off work soon and wanted to put our order in. Food 3/5 - the cocktails were strong, I had the Peach Smash. The popcorn appetizer was cool as in cold, like it had been sitting out somewhere, which was odd. The food was good but we only had sliders and ghost pepper chicken sliders with fries. Can't mess that up too much. It wasn't a bad experience but I'd would've rather sat in a reclining chair with a cocktail and warm, buttery popcorn.

Cesar Salad

I absolutely love coming to this theater and this is the only one my boyfriend and I will come to. We live in Folsom and drive 20 minutes to come here each time we see a movie. This evening was the first time I was really disappointed. I got the chicken Cesar salad and my chicken was raw. Of course it was dark, so I'm unsure how many raw pieces I actually ate.

Ghost pepper sliders and onion rings

First time here. Loved the waffles! Didn't really care for the cheese fries, I was expecting jalapeno cheese not just plain cheese. Everything else we ordered was good. We forgot to get popcorn but we ordered so much food, it would've been tossed out by end of the movie. I liked that the seat reclined. Only downside is our empty glasses were not removed from the tray when they came to drop off the next round of drinks. So our tray was full of trays, empty glasses and full glasses. And we were told 25 minutes before end of movie, they'll come ask if we wanted to add anything else and bring us our check. We didn't get our check until the credits were running and the lights came on.

Studio Movie Grill, is a great experience for entertainment and a good meal. I recently went and saw Five Nights at Freddy 2 and it was a great experience. The food was good, the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was nice. Will be back again!

Ask the Community - Studio Movie Grill

Does it have gender neutral bathrooms?

No the bathrooms are men's and women's.

Does this Movie theater have showings in Spanish or even have subtitles?

I do know that some of the movies have subtitles in certain parts of the film, but I don't know if they have any showings in Spanish

When is happy hour or do you have happy hour?

They don't really have a happy hour as far as I know. It's a movie theater with a bar type menu. You can order your drinks straight from the bar area or at your seat in whatever movie room your showing movie is in. I haven't been there since last…

Does anyone know if the popcorn at the Studio Movie Grill is vegan or made with oil not butter?

100% vegan -- popped with canola oil and drizzled with soy butter, per Rocklin Studio Movie Grill employee.

Can I use Apple Pay for a payment option to get a meal?

No unfortunately they do not accept Apple Pay at all nor do they accept Fandango Gift Cards in person

Can I bring my own wine and pay a corkage fee?

No ma'am but they do sell a wide variety of wine and other adult beverages.

How does the student discount work? Couldn't find much info on their webpage, their link took me to a separate webpage w/o student discount info

Yes but if you are looking for a discount go in Tuesday all seats all day is $5

Do they make Irish trash cans?

Only in Ireland are these made.

What are the $5 food deals on Tuesday?

They have the $5 movie ticket deal on Tuesdays, no other deals. DAILY SPECIALS…

When is your low price day?

On Tuesday $5 movie tickets. Like most theaters in the area.

What time does the bar stop serving alcohol?

The kitchen and bar close 45minutes after the last movie. (Ex. 11 o'clock is the showtime movie they would be doing last call at 11:30 and finishing 11:45). Hope that helps.

Do I have to order food and drinks while I'm watching?

nope...but if you just want a quality movie experience, id go elsewhere...servers will be passing in front of you during the film.

It's my understanding that this same theater will be be coming up in Elk Grove, CA. Can the seats be improved, recline? The seats at the location in Rocklin are very uncomfortable.

They should be able to improve the seats. Reclining seats are much more comfortable. I have been to other similar type theaters that have reclining seats. It all depends on if they are building it from the ground up or renovating an existing…

I would like to know how the screen and sound compares to the Blue Oaks Cinemark. Any thoughts?

It is pretty hard to get a bad seat at SMG even the large screen rooms do not have excessive rows of seats. My wife pretty much refuses to watch movies anywhere else.

Our friendly server recommended the fried chicken as a must-have signature menu item, so we ordered two plates and a Caesar salad. We were both overjoyed with our entrees--chicken was moist with a beautiful, crunchy crust and the most delicious gravy and sweet grilled carrots. We finished up with a s'mores bread pudding that is one of the most craveable desserts I've ever tasted. Moist, caramel-y and luscious! And the server led our neighboring tables in singing Happy Birthday to my mama, which made the night really fun for her. Can't WAIT to come back! It's a new favorite--everything I hoped for and more. The food is spectacular, and the truly kind service takes it another level.

When the waiter brought my drink, I immediately noticed it didn't look like a traditional Piña Colada, and after tasting it, I confirmed it certainly didn't taste like one either. I politely asked if I could exchange it for a different drink. The waiter returned and said the manager wouldn't allow an exchange but would offer me 50% off instead. I explained that I wasn't happy with the drink and simply wanted to order something else. The manager came over and explained that the menu includes a disclaimer stating the cocktails are made with soju instead of the traditional liquor. In my opinion, the waiter should have mentioned that when I ordered, especially since it significantly changes the flavor. I hadn't noticed the disclaimer--I simply ordered what I thought would be a classic Piña Colada. Unfortunately, I was still charged half the price for a drink I didn't enjoy and wasn't allowed to order a replacement. The manager emphasized that it was too expensive for the restaurant to remake drinks, which I found disappointing. I've never had an experience like this at any other restaurant. On a positive note, I ordered the Reuben sandwich with fries, and it was delicious. That was the highlight of the meal. However, the service was also lacking. Our waiter was slow and couldn't answer several of our questions without repeatedly leaving to ask someone else. Because of the poor customer service and how the drink situation was handled, I won't be returning.

The pizza had that farm-to-fork fresh flavor and the house ranch was a nice accent. The cioppino looked inviting and was nicely seasoned and flavorful. The lobster bites came with a lemon wedge and their house Thousand Island sauce, and that sauce was incredible. The combination of the crispy lobster, lemon, and sauce worked perfectly together. The broccolini was also seasoned really well and paired nicely with the grilled lemon. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and it was one of the smoothest I've had. One detail I loved was that they stamped the restaurant's logo into the ice cube. Small touch, but really cool. For my main course, I ordered the Grilled Huli Huli Chicken with a crispy rice cake, pineapple, greens, and a house sauce that completely made the dish. The sweet and tangy flavor paired perfectly with the chicken. Me and my girlfriend also shared the mac and cheese, and honestly, this was one of the best mac and cheeses I've had. It was rich, creamy, well-seasoned, and the breadcrumbs on top added the perfect texture. My girlfriend ordered the braised short rib with garlic mashed potatoes and carrot purée. The short rib was so tender it practically fell apart with a fork. Everything on the plate was delicious. One thing that surprised me was the portion sizes. Everything was very filling, and we ended up taking some food home. By the time dessert came around, we were already pretty full, but there was no way we were skipping it. To finish the night, we shared the Ghirardelli triple chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and strawberries. It was the perfect way to end the meal. The restaurant was busy and lively, but it never felt crowded. The tables were spaced out really well, so my girlfriend and I could still enjoy our conversation and watch the basketball game. I also appreciated seeing Chef Q and his wife walking around and checking on guests throughout the night. They stopped by tables to see how everyone was enjoying their food, which was a really nice touch. I even had the chance to take a picture with Chef Q before we left, which was super cool. Between the food, service, atmosphere, and attention to detail, this is easily one of the top restaurants I've been to in Sacramento. Definitely worth a visit.

When we arrived on a Monday, the restaurant wasn't crowded, so we expected attentive service. We were seated, our server came over for drinks, and we let him know we were celebrating my aunt's birthday. This restaurant usually has a nice way of acknowledging birthdays, so we were looking forward to that, but it never happened. We ordered the lobster bites, and they were outstanding as always. My mom, who is allergic to seafood, started feeling a little nauseous from the smell and asked our server for some lemons. He walked away, and we never saw him again. After waiting for quite a while, we asked another server, who brought them over immediately. Our salads and soup were delivered by a food runner, and once again, our server was nowhere to be found. I eventually had to flag down the manager just to have our appetizer and soup plates cleared from the table. Our entrees arrived, the server asked how everything was, and then disappeared again. The next time we saw him was when he dropped off the check. What made it even more frustrating was watching him repeatedly check on, laugh with, and chat with the table behind us while barely acknowledging ours. We completely understand that restaurants get busy and servers can get overwhelmed, but that didn't seem to be the case here. For a $300 dinner for four people at an upscale restaurant, I expected a much higher level of service. The manager did remove our desserts from the bill, and I appreciate that gesture, but I honestly felt more should have been done once it was clear how neglected our table had been. The biggest disappointment is that the food was absolutely outstanding. Every dish was delicious, which made the lack of service stand out even more. This has always been one of my favorite locations, so I truly hope this was just an off night. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad taste in my mouth and didn't reflect the level of service I've come to expect from this restaurant.
