Went here today again as it's my go to place. Had a full set of gel nails done by Lam and she was so fantastic. Staff are always very friendly, nice and place is always clean. I have gone to these types of salons a lot through the city and they always rush, staff are normally quite rude and can be forceful with your hands/feet and don't always do a great job and places and equipment are dirty. Manicures are messy or stuff is missed etc. I can only say it was a good experience and it's nice to find a place that offers good service to their customers. The owner is generally there and she was a lady and she was attentive and friendly. Will only see LAM now as my dedicated gel nail person! She is so good and very nice. She did my nails perfectly and no correction or alterations needed. Only had to tell her once what I wanted and she did it perfectly. read more

I new I was getting myself into a mess walking into this place but I wanted a quick pedi. Overall the reason it got two stars instead of one is because the lady who actually did my pedi was friendly (been to a vo's before they usually don't speak english). Unfortunetly she was very hard on my feet and I have scratches all over the bottom of my foot because of this weird thing I have never seen anyone use in a pedicure before. It was super dirty in the shop as I saw dirty toe nail clippings beside my chair. WORST of all when I was sitting in a different chair for my feet to dry all she did with the tub is rinse it out YUCK YUCK YUCK. After I got my pedicure I met up with a friend for coffee and was told that the health board does not even go into esthetic places unless they have atleast 3 complaints in one week! I know now to ask if they are certified estheticians after my friend had the same thing happen to her. read more

There are several things i do not like about this place: 1. As my nails are being done, the esthetician was talking very loudly with the other estheticians in the store in a language i do not understand, of course they were not speaking in English. 2. I was asked over and over and over (which i refused over and over and over!) if i wanted my eye brows waxed or any other waxing service. (Funny thing is i JUST got my eyebrows and face waxed at a different place a few hours before going to get my nails done, so why would i need them redone? Is there an imaginary bush of hair that i cannot see on my face?) 3. I had paid and was walking out of the store when one of the ladies SHOUTED at me and everyone near that area of the mall and in the salon looked at me; the lady thought i didn't pay and was running off, she accused me of that. I explained to her that i just paid another lady, but she started yelling at the other girls in a language i don't understand. After a few minutes of yelling and asking me to stay where i was, the lady i paid confirmed it with the lady yelling all over the place. she(lady that was yelling) gave me a funny look and said "ok you can go". I left very embarrassed and very upset with the way they treated me. Ps. This was my 3rd time at this place, my reasons #1 and 2 happened on all 3 occasions, but #3 happened the last time i went there. read more

This is my go to nail salon! I recently moved to the south side and have tried quite a few salons in the area yet keep coming back to get my nails fixed. I have no problem driving the 20-30 minutes just to have peace of mind that I will leave with exactly what I want and extremely happy with the service and quality. Jenny is a true artist, as well as Lily, and each time I go I know that whoever is my technician the quality will be top notch. I get complimented on my nails every time I get my nails done here and refer anyone and everyone! A true gem! read more

I absolutely love this place! It's now called "Studio Nails", but it's in the same place with the same staff! I started coming here because I moved into the neighbourhood and needed a quick nail fill. What I found here was a salon full of awesome, friendly employees who really take pride in their work. Their nail designs are hands down the BEST for the "walk in" type of nail salon, they are right on trend and sometimes ahead of trend, and I get complimented on my nails EVERYDAY. Seriously, I refer people to this salon once a day because complete strangers approach me and tell me they love my nails! I've never seen unsanitary practices here, in fact I've watched the girls there disinfect every inch of that place. Also, I've had pedis done there before, and they were not rough on my feet like a review below says as well. Also, I hear that their eyelash extensions are really good. I haven't had them yet, but have seen their work, and it's as good or better than the eyelash extension "only" type salons in YEG. read more

This place is such a ripoff it's ridiculous!!! I went to get a gel nail manicure but the technician was in such a rush to leave because it was a half an hour before closing and only changed my nail polish and proceed to charged me for a full gel manicure! She did NOT soak my hands in preparation to trim my cuticles, she did NOT trim my cuticles nor did she do anything but a full manicure would require so yes that includes NO hand massage. To top it all off, she also did burned my nail beds when removing the old polish with the electric sanding tool. Ouch! I was and out in less than 20min!!! Normally, being getting in and out of there in such short time would impress me if they did all of the requirements that a noraml and good nail technician would you during a full gel manicure but that was not the case at this Vo's Nail Salon. I questioned the technician about why I didn't get the same treatment for full manicure she started to argue with me and claimed it was cause I came at the end of the day and was not the owner and she's charging me what she supposed to charge for manicure but like I said earlier, she never did anything except change my nail polish! I'm very disappointed in this place. I feel like I was taken advantage of and I'm not happy about it. I would never come here again nor would I recommend it to anybody else. To top it all off this place is appears to be very dirty and unsanitary. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. P.S... They also add a surcharge if you want to use a credit card. Me, my mother and my sister all have been coming here for years. I always have felt very welcomed and the ladies always take care of us. They offer lots of services from manicures to pedicures to all your waxing needs, I get my eyebrows tinted and they do a fabulous job. My favourite place to go to spoil myself after a long day or for a girls day with my mom and sister. They take walk ins which is great and I've never had to wait too long. read more

I think this is now called StudiO Nails. I live close and didn't feel like driving to my normal salon to have my gel nails filled. They had been on there for 4 weeks and one had fallen off...I was due! I had a great experience while I was having my nails done. The studio is clean, the pricing is great, and the ladies are friendly. However, after I left I noticed that the gel surface had some bubbles in it, the surface was warped on several of my nails....not a big deal. After just TWO WEEKS, the nails started to lift & the tips of my nails started to peel away from the gel. Not long after I noticed that, the gel my thumb cracked and broke off and then another one just fell off completely. I went back to my regular nail tech who had to replace the set completely. As he's file-ing the gel away, it's chipping and breaking off. My nails underneath the gel were so thin and broken that I had to cut all my nails short and put tips back on to grow them back to where they had been before. Maybe I had a freak experience here...but I would not return or recommend. I'll be going to Tom at Art Nails from now on. read more

I've been loyal to studio nails for 2 years, whether it is eyelashes or getting my nails done. I have put up with them for way too long. Although I was always happy with my eyelashes, every SINGLE time I went in, I'd be waiting around for at least 15 minutes regardless of having appointments. My final straw was when they double booked me and did not let me know even though they claimed they called me, which is untrue. These ladies care more about making money than their loyal clients. This is the last time they get my business. read more

I have been extremely happy with the staff and owner jenny. The establishment is located in capilano mall. Which is an older building and in desperate need of a face lift. Yet the staff make you forget this fact very quickly,they are friendly and proffessional. If your lookiing for a place that puts on aires and is over priced this place is not for you but if your looking for a job done well for a good price youll not go wrong with jennys establishment! read more

While I can agree with some of the content of the previous reviews... the individuals who work at these facilities are paid next to nothing and worked hard by the management. Speaking in another language... many don't speak English, so yes your conversation with the tech will likely be limited. If you want conversation go to a "spa" and have a sen - ''sation" at that overpriced location, that also underpays their contracted staff. It is NOT fancy. The Northgate location is clean but lacks storage. As for waits,... do it yourself at home. It takes at least 20 minutes to get to a location. Perhaps make an actual appointment, instead of being a walk-in.People, if you want a reasonably priced service then this facility is fair and reasonable. read more
