Went for all over blonde. Before picture shown. Left with orange hair YES ORANGE hair. My blonde hair was turned orange. They had me come back the next day and couldn't fix it. I ended up having to go to a PROFESSIONAL because clearly this salon lacks this. My hair was fried. I had to cut 6 inches off and go dark to help my hair repair and grow back. I would never recommend this place. Owner deleted my Facebook review and said it was my fault. When a business doesn't hold itself accountable for mistakes made by their employees. Mistakes will continue to be made. It's expensive & was NOT worth the orange damaged hair. Plenty of other salons to try. read more

I went to get my hair dyed and cut. I wanted dark on top and purple on the bottom. My hair came out Red....like red, red. Not at all what I asked for. They then tried blaming it on being a brand of hair dye they had never used before. They also mixed 2 different colored dyes together. In all, for getting my hair dyed (with the 2 colors), a cut, tip and I bought color lasting shampoo and conditioner.... my total was $300. I was shocked. My hair was only shoulder length and it wasn't even the color I asked for. I'm not one to argue but I did express my dislike that I didn't get the color I asked for. Their solution was that when I come in for a touch up, they would try and add purple to it. And I'd have to pay full price for it. Ridiculous. I won't go back. read more

Beware! I used to love this place. I've had my nails done here multiple times and I had a facial and a peel. This was my face 24h after the peel! Painful, red, hot, and swollen. I thought the black dots were blackheads brought to the surface but they were actually scabs from popped blood vessels. I originally booked the appointment for a facial but my esthetician suggested I get a peel. I told her I was concerned about down time because my best friend's wedding was that following Saturday (my appointment was on Thursday). I was devastated when I woke up the next day to skin like this. I've struggled with acne for a very long time and I was in an 'ok' place with my skin before the peel. I contacted Studio One that Friday and sent them these pictures. They told me to come in for a complimentary 'healing' facial. I came in but I'm a nurse and I was concerned that I had a chemical burn so I went to the Physician's Immediate Care in Sycamore. The bill was $500. I contacted Studio One for some form of compensation. They are trying to tell me that I have a lactose intolerance and that it's my fault my skin reacted this way because I neglected to tell my esthetician about my allergy. However, I do NOT have a lactose intolerance. I have never been diagnosed with a lactose intolerance, nor have I ever signed anything or verbally stated I have a lactose intolerance. PLEASE do your research into the places you go to have anything done to your skin. read more

My wife has gone here for 20 years and she has always liked the service. She has gotten, cuts, colors, facials, pedicures and massages. I've even done a couples massage with her once. From my estimate she has probably done 300 procedures during this time. Today, she had the flu and had to cancel at the last minute. The salon has a 24 hour cancelation fee of 1/2 the cost and were going to charge the fee or $100.00. The reason that was given to me is that she had a handful of cancelations during her 20 years of going there. The cancelations are less than 2% of her all of her visits. While, I can appreciate the issues regarding lack of being able to schedule someone else because of bookings, and I understand their frustration, I don't think it is smart customer service to alienate a customer over $100.00 cancel fee considering how many times she has been a customer at the salon for 20 years. In addition, I don't think that the salon really wants someone with the flu and being contagious to the staff and getting those individuals sick. Consider yourself informed when deciding if this is a salon you want to do your business and understand what the expectations are before hand. read more

I have never been so insulted in my life. I had a gift certificate given to me so I made an appointment on OCTOBER 21 because they could not get me in. The next available day they had was October 31 so I set an appointment. As I get to my appointment they tell me they REFUSE to honor my gift certificate because it expired October 23..... The deadline was missed because of THEIR inadequacies to provide me with a stylist before the deadline. I had my mani/pedi here for my wedding a week and a half ago. They have both lasted so well!! My pedi still looks perfect and my manicure is just beginning to chip. They are a little bit more expensive than some other places, but definitely worth it. The pedicures are heaven. I love that they do the hot towels and actually take their time. read more

My boyfriend surprised me with a facial and mani/pedi. Gretchen did my facial and it was very relaxing, I actually fell asleep for a bit. I will def be back with her. The facial I believe like most come with a shoulder, arm, and hand massage but she also did a mini head massage :-) The mani/pedi I received was ok because of the polish. I forgot the woman's name but she was very friendly and did a great job on the service. My only advice is to not get a french done, because I have had better. Don't get me wrong, my nails came out nice but I am a picky person and I like the french to be straight and similar in shape and size. I would normally have said something in a nice way but was in a rush because these appointments although were great, were also unexpected. It is 2 days later and my manicure is peeling a little but pedicure looks good still (did not get french done). I would get my nails done here again just with a reg polish. read more

I'll give the 1 star because you can't put less. The 1 star is because women who waxed and tinted my eyebrows was great. I'd give more stars just for her, but my experience got destroyed by Sarah. The worst haircut and color job I've EVER had! Haircut looks nothing like what I asked for and she seems to know exactly what I wanted which wasn't hard... And I showed a pic and she even pointed out the lenght I was asking for before cutting. But it ended up 8 inches shorter for some reason. Even after me saying a few times.... that seems a bit short!? Then the color. I get an all over color, nothing fancy, and there are plenty sports all over that she somehow missed. My hair is very light brown, I get all over flat black, how do you miss spots? I left after spending Way to much $. Shaking and about to cry. I called and sent an email to talk to someone in charge about it with no reply. Would never go there again. It's stinks because eyebrow lady was great but I don't want anything to do with Studio One and will let others know to be aware. I could of cut and colored my hair better myself alone in the dark. Horrible experience and now it will take a year of a stupid haircut to grow out to maybe be where I wanted it to be. read more

Thought itd be worth paying double to get some skill and effort. Ive gotten several bad haircuts in my life, but this one really takes the top spot by a long shot. Walked in with beautiful flowing hair and bangs and walked out looking completely hacked and as if i were in some comedy like "dumb and dumber". Absolutely horrible. Nearly had a nervous breakdown when I got home. My hair was beautiful and full of volume and now i have 10 pieces of hair for bangs. Completely uneven and looks hacked as if you can see exactly where she lopped off the volume of my bangs with thinning shears. I dont even want to be in public. I feel truly violated to have paid $40 to have this done to me. But i guess i cant blame her, i was talking her head off and she obviously was incredibly careless and not payong any attention to detail. My heart dropped before i left the chair but i couldnt bring myself to say anything. This traumatizing experience inspired my first yelp review. Thanks! read more

This is the best place to get your hair done in Dekalb :) I love the atmosphere of the salon. Very professional staff, great quality products, LOTS of different services. The prices are standard (they are on the level system). I get my hair colored here and they offered to add additional highlights if I wasn't happy with the results. read more

I have thick, curly hair that is sometimes difficult to work with and I've always been impressed with the time the stylists take and the individual attention they give. I had a HORRIBLE color done at a different salon ( highlight and lowlight) and came here to see if they could fix it. The lowlight was almost black, and the blonde was yellow. As you can imagine, it looked terrible and I didn't know if there was any way of fixing it. I came here (got me in same day) and was able to get my hair a beautiful blonde with carmel highlights. Its honestly even better than I imagined it would be. I also was able to get my eyebrows waxed while I was waiting on the color. Will DEFINITELY come back here! read more

Paid almost $200 to get my hair dyed a color that wasn't anything close to what I asked for. The color came out to be the exact same color I've been dying it for months on my own. When I went to ask for a refund because I was not satisfied with what I got, one of the staff made a snide comment about how she didn't understand how I was unable to see that the color in my hair was what I had asked for. She also commented that they did what they thought was "best" for its integrity (even though we didn't agree to go darker in the first place). I've never been so upset after a salon visit in my life and definitely won't be going back. read more

My husband got me a $120 gift certificate for Mother's Day and thought it would be perfect to use towards a hair service since I had been wanting to do that for quite some time now. I felt really bad leaving my baby at home (with hubby) but thought it would be good to have a little breather and time to myself. When I got there, staff was very friendly and place looked nice. Bianca who would be my hair dresser that day, asked that I sign a form since I told her I colored my hair with box dye last June or so. That way if anything goes wrong with the highlights she was gonna do on me, they wouldn't be liable for anything. Towards the end of getting highlights done, I told her I probably wouldn't want my hair blow dried because baby was at home waiting for me. She was totally fine with it. She just blow dried my hair a bit so I can see the highlights.. the lighting was poor so I didn't see much until I got home. Highlights looked pretty in the back but in the front, you can hardly notice them. Service was $103 which I thought was pricey for what was done. I called the manager the next day and told her I wasn't happy with service and she was more defensive than helpful or friendly. I asked that maybe I can get another service done since I couldn't leave baby that easily to do a hair service again (I have tons of hair and it's long). She said no kind of rudely. She did offer that I go in to fix it but I was just turned off by everything and had already explained that I can't leave my baby to go again for hair. She blamed it on the box dye I had done last year even though my hair had grown out quite a bit since then and the highlight problem was more by the roots... anyway, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I went into studio one with a picture of the orange ombré I wanted exactly. Everything was going well until the girl doing my hair dyed the top half dark red brown and did not fade that color into the blonde of the ombré at all. I stopped her while she was cutting my hair because I was really unhappy with the color. After asking her to fix the color She dyed it again in a different color that I chose, and then pulled it through the blonde so it looked like a nice ombré. Then she barely dried my hair and sent me on my way without completing the cut. color was right, and it was obvious she did not want to help me anymore so I paid, tipped her well and left. When I got home my white Colombia shirt was covered in red dye. I finally decided to call and complain about my service and they told me to wash my shirt with tide. In short: my shirt is totally ruined, I spent all afternoon in the salon fixing the color, and never got a full cut or any type of style. Obviously not a good experience read more
