This is not the first time Brittany has colored my hair incorrectly, and I am very disappointed. I chose to give her another opportunity because she had done my hair correctly in the past, but unfortunately, the result was once again not what I requested. My hair was highlighted incorrectly and turned platinum blonde, which I never asked for. It appeared to be over-processed, or the wrong toner was used. I typically require a level 9 toner, and it's clear that was not applied. Because of how poorly the service turned out, I had to find another salon open on a Sunday to correct it, as it was not suitable for work. At this point, I am requesting a refund due to the repeated issues and the additional time and expense required to fix the mistake. read more

1st time there. Not impressed with front desk staff or facility...after reading all the great reviews I had high expectations. Was not greeted in a timely manner, no water offered waited 10 mins above and beyond my appt time and had to ask 2 different associates for the wifi password. I received a gift card for a massage which is what led me here... and AJ was amazing!! I've had several massages over the years but she was seriously the best by far!! I have visited this salon twice with the same stylist for hair cuts. The first time I was just doing a pretty significant cut, about 7" cut off. The second time, I wanted to add some color and my stylist suggested the "balayage" trend, basically low-maintenance highlights. I was very excited about the opportunity, as I haven't colored my hair much. Unfortunately, the result was not good. The colors were very stringy, rather than a nice blended look. I asked for shades of brown, one more blonde looking (caramel) and one more red looking (auburn). They were mostly blonde, not caramel, and there wasn't a lot of color at all...it was hardly noticeable. The stylist said once I go home and wash and style it myself in the next few days, if I want more red to call her and she can add a few foils, because she didn't do a lot of the auburn color. I did so, and went to the salon where she squeezed me in and made me feel like I needed to be SO grateful for her to be able to do that for me between her appointments. Meanwhile, I stood between 2 stylists doing clients hair diffusing my own hair. Seriously. Please note, I am not a stylist. I don't claim to be. And I showed photos of what I wanted, to explain both the overall color look and the colors. I don't know the exact words to use in the million shades of red. Well, when I went back the red she gave me was a bright like crayola red, not a nice brownish redhead color red. Either way, the colors were AWFUL. I called it "ketchup and mustard hair" -- seriously. Strings of a stark yellow blonde and strings of bright red. The worst part? I called before my original appointment AND asked my stylist at the start of my appointment what the cost would be, expecting it to be around $120 at the most, but nobody could tell me because they "weren't sure what it would be" until the stylist decides if it's full highlight, partial, etc., and when I got to the desk at the end of my original appointment it was $170!!!!!! BEFORE TIP. It was awful and shocking to pay that much when I wasn't expecting to, for coloring I didn't like at all, and after a second appointment where I had to dry my own hair. Needless to say, I have not returned and will not return. I would suggest getting a CLEAR ANSWER of what you're expected to spend before you arrive, if possible. read more

Would you like some fresh tea and an aromatherapy session of your choice before your massage? Don't mind if I do! The prices are really fair but I feel like I'm at an upscale facility. Most recently I visited Ulysses to save my hair. I had a cut that did not work for me, and somehow read my mind when I said I wanted "white but not white" highlights. True master of his craft. A nice touch, he gave a deep conditioning treatment for my dry hair, free of charge. He's a pro and I will definitely be back to visit him. read more

Hello, I've just had my 3rd visit at Katrina's Salon. I started here a few months ago. My last stylist, after a long time, ended up leaving and I was lost! Find another stylist!? I had nowhere to turn and sometimes recommendations don't work out... I let my fingers and eyes do the running and I was led to try Katrina Salon & Spa. First time, I made them my Salon! I wanted to cut my long hair and get shoulder length with a trendy style. I may be a little older but I want what I like......and I loved it! Brittany was fabulous. What a shapely doo and she didn't mind at all, when its like "Oh, can you cut more here or texturize more here. I was making my style and she didn't mind the inputs, that means a lot! I let my hair grow out and then I had a wild one and wanted short and punky, and I'm going silver/gray! I told them I wanted a master stylist, because of what wanted this time. I got acquainted with Katie and I have not this kind of haircut for a long time, ....and had not this kind of Stylist either!! So perfect, so caring, so listening, so professional, so in tune with what I was wanting, what I was looking for!! It's hard nowadays to find a stylist that knows her stuff and cares enough about her customers to let them know she's there and listens and follow throughs with a beautiful style, color, cut, etc...... and a happy/grateful client! First impression when I walked into Katrina Salon a few months ago for the first time: "Would you like some water or a glass of champagne?" Champagne? Oh yes. You've hooked me. I have seen Brittney for the last two appointments for both a hair cut and color and she did an amazing job. Before we even got started, she gave me her input on what color I should do because I like my hair to be pretty low maintenance. Meaning I really only go to a hair salon twice a year. Instead of the usual judgment I get from saying that from all other hair salons I've been to, she just suggested a color that would look good growing out for a few months! Normally I get the whole speech about how often I *should* get my hair done, and not when its reasonably for me and my schedule. The second time I saw Brittney I wanted to cut off a lot of my hair and my goodness did she deliver. I was absolutely in love with my haircut and I'm still getting compliments on it weeks later!! I'm glad I came in - I was hesitant to change hair stylists (I still love you Tony @ Exsalonce) but after moving to the burbs and being a new mom - taking an hour drive into the city just isn't feasible right now! I called to make a same day appointment (Friday) and was in within 2 hours. I wanted a senior stylist because I'm so picky about my hair color (being asia, if color isn't applied correctly, highlights can become very brassy) but none were available. So I booked with Junior Stylist Marissa and she did an amazing job! The appointment took longer than I wanted (2.5 hours) but Marissa insisted the next time won't take as long - she just wanted to get a feel for how my hair reacts so she took her time. Great Aveda salon experience. Loved the scalp massage, hot towel and cucumber over the eyes treatment :) I walked out $150 poorer (partial highlight/low light + cut) inclusive of tip but very satisfied with my hair. read more

Katrina has amazing service, really sweet employees and it's a beautiful salon. I've had a haircut at Katrina and I walked out feeling awesome. The last couple of appointments I've schedule was for my pedicure and manicure. I've been scheduled with Laura and she's great! She's friendly, talkative and really sweet, but very inexperienced doing nails. My pedicure was midocre and my manicure was awful. She didn't clean up my cuticles very well, I had hang nails the next day, there were air bubbles on the side of my nails from the gel nail polish, it wasn't applied on my nails neatly and after 5 days the gel nail polish started coming off. I was very disappointed at the job she did and a week later I had to get my nails done again. I would recommend going to Katrina for hair services, but as for my nails I will be going somewhere else. If you like the service a lot at Katrina, then ask for a more experienced nail tech. read more

I went into Katrina for my first time the other day and received a great haircut from Tiffany. When I walked in I liked that it was a nice salon, but not too big with dance music blasting. The mood was mellow, you are offered a coffee or water (lemon or cucumber?) upon arrival. Tiffany was friendly and my shampoo came with a nice head massage and minty cloth over my forehead... I got my hair done (full highlight) by Britney last week at the recommendation of my mom who also goes to her and all I can say is I am beyond satisfied. I live in Chicago and plan to make the commute out to get my hair done going forward. For a salon it is VERY hard to satisfy in all aspects - it's either too pricey, too bitchy or the stylists just don't do a great job. Katrina delivers in all facets of running a salon and spa. I've been getting my hair colored blonde for at least 10 years and have been through countless stylists. I will be going back to Britney until she leaves and then I will probably follow her! My mom, the same sentiments. Additionally, the receptionists were pleasant, the assistant who shampooed my hair was awesome and they are more than willing to set you up at a station so you can blow-dry your own hair and not have to pay extra. I was able to book an appointment for the very same day I called. When I got there, Erika talked with me for several minutes about what I wanted, what I liked and didn't like about my hair currently, and gave me helpful (and welcome) suggestions on what she thought would work for me. I had a 90min Hot Stone Massage w AJ. I've had a few other massages (Swedish, romantic, pregnancy, ect) this was the best one yet! The hot stones were a nice touch, not sure I'd spend the extra $ on them everytime, but they were worth trying out. The staff here was friendly, they apolgized for the appearance of the salon/spa a cpl times (doing some renovations) but it looked nice to me. This salon is located in a charming downtown area of Batavia and there is a free parking garage right next door. The salon/spa is updated and appealing. On another note, the music during my massaage did not work part of the time and they applied a 10% discount off the massage, this was a nice touch. I will book here again. read more

Classiest bunch of ladies I've ever had chop off my hair or get my sweet but inappropriate lady 'stache waxed. Reasonable pricing for a salon, which is still a bit steep, but this is from someone that used to get her hair done at Supercuts. I love that it's within walking distance of my house, and since I often arrive sweaty and unkempt, the cucumber water they provide really hits the spot. Clean bright salon. Friendly staff. What I like about the Aveda line is that it is cruelty free. What I like about the Aveda products is that they do wonders for my hair. The stylist who cut my hair, Liz, was great. She listened well when I asked for a certain style and executed flawlessly. How lucky did I feel when I looked across the street from the coffee shop I started working at and saw Katrina! I made an appointment with L.J., upon a recommendation from the receptionist when I asked who was good with curly hair. She gave me a great cut that looks awesome blown out or curly. Everyone who works there was very nice, and L.J. was a lot of fun. I only took one star off because their waiting room is under a bit of repair, I think - the ceiling was exposed.
