This studio is bright and beautiful, and I always feel welcomed. They have so many works of art to admire. Unique stand out and colorful conversation starters, striking handmade jewelry, prints representing Ca and the Bay Area. I stopped in yesterday because my daughter was attending a birthday party across the street. I've already taken note of my next splurge. I am so happy to share that unlike some touristy spots, this gallery has a wide selection of reasonably priced art and gifts. High end is available, but there truly is something for everyone. A beautiful gallery, but the service is even more remarkable. I was delivering a piece to the Alameda County Fair when I was told that I needed a wire. Being from out of town, I called Studio Seven and the owner said on the phone to "come on in and we'll take care of it." The owner helped me install a wire as soon as I walked in the door and while waiting, I perused the extensive collection of artists on display. When I ask how much I owed him for his service, he said just a "thank you." He made my day and impressed on me that there are still generous, good people in the world. read more

In the heart of downtown Pleasanton is Studio Seven. This is a collection of many local artists work and this gallery serves as a beautiful installation to display the art. We love the Disney art which, in fact, are creations by certified Disney artists. I picked a beautiful necklace for my daughter here today and had the pleasure of speaking to Karen at length about so many topics. I was impressed that she was an artist herself and had been a teacher of the arts for many decades. We were very happy to see a gallery in the middle of town. My daughter and I spent much time here discussing which pieces spoke to us and what we thought about them. This is a wonderful place to gaze upon local artists' work. read more

One of the things I love about downtown Pleasanton is the array of independent retail, cafes and coffee shops blended in with a just a few chains. Studio Seven Arts is the kind of gallery that belongs in any little downtown area like this-independent and local but inclusive of artists outside the Tri-Valley area to balance out the mix. Some of my favorite works here include cute and affordable watercolor bird paintings on canvas, "Frogman" authentic figures, sea glass and silver one-of-a-kind jewelry as well as great local scenic paintings. There is always something new and unique each time I visit. I love to come in and browse and always feel welcomed by the staff. Studio Seven also offers expert custom framing. I've had two pieces done here-one was a more simple custom frame and mat for a limited edition print and the other was a specialized job of stretching a shirt on canvas. Both projects were well done and professional-everything from the service to the delivery was spot-on. I'd highly recommend bringing your custom framing jobs here, especially if you have a more expensive piece that needs extra care. They are true artists here and will deliver a quality frame job. They also host special events, raffles and art walks in the town. I always make it a point to step in to Studio Seven when I'm in the area. Walnut Creek could definitely use a gallery just like this! read more

The verdict is still out. I purchased three art pieces from this studio. One of the pieces, I took home already because it was on the floor and on sale (80% off!). The other two pieces, I ordered at their store for delivery. Once these other two pieces arrive and I go to pick them up, I'll have a more complete review of their full service from A-Z. I'll update my review at that juncture. For now, my review is about two things: 1) selection of artworks; and 2) quality of service. Selection of Artwork -- is fantastic! I love the variety + quality of the collections and the hard work the owner puts into arranging (and rearranging) the works to ensure fresh perspectives. As a certified distributor of Disney Fine Arts, Studio Seven is definitely trustworthy. Quality of Service -- is meh. Depending on who is staffing the store, your experience here will range from 'terrible' to 'excellent.' Thus far...I didn't get so lucky in the service front. But I've been told by my friends that the service is good, especially when the owner is around. Looking forward to my art pieces to arrive. Stay tuned! read more

I was referred to "Studio Seven Arts" by many of my fellow Artist colleagues. When I entered I was overwhelmed by the quantity and the QUALITY of the Art displayed. All displayed beautifully! There is also beautiful jewelry and gifts and all this created by local artists. I met with the owner, Dirk Christiansen, and asked if he could help me with one of my Art pieces that I had framed myself. He took the time to work with me and help me right then. It is rare to find that kind of service anymore. I am just so happy that I have discovered this wonderful shop that supports the arts and to meet such a nice and caring shop owner. On Friday April 30th my husband and I went into the gallery for the first time. This is a very cute place with some fun pieces. We found a piece we thought would be a great gift but the service was so poor we did not feel we could support them. We were not greeted coming in or addressed the entire time we were there but everyone else was. Hate to pull the race card but my husband was the only person of color there so you draw your own conclusion. Disappointed. read more

International world traveler, Man of Mystery here, and this is a great spot to pop into, if you feel your being tailed. Large windows, looking out onto a corner intersections, and various different sized walls, to observe from, without drawing attention, to one's self. In my business, one must must always have an eye cast over one's shoulder. Which may explain my various trips to the emergency ward. I don't know, haven't had time to put the two together yet, will let you know if there is a correlation. Actually, once inside, it is a shop of intrigue. I'm particularly drawn to the paintings, drawings of what the area of San Ramon Valley, used to look like, before being over run by tract house . . ahem . . . "custom homes." The way it looked, when I grew up here. Also, many colorful glass items, some esoteric things and a jewelry counter, where I've been known to purchase an item or two. Parking can be an issue on Saturdays, as the Farmer's Market, is open and runs along one side of the building. Service has run from someone, mumbling something unintelligible, to five stars. Artists, beware. The gallery owner Dirk Christiansen steals from his artists' checks every month. I consigned my work with Studio Seven for several months. Dirk would wait on average 90 days to send a check for pieces that sold. He only would send me a sales report if I hounded him for it, which raised my suspicions. When he sent the report, he would claim that about 2/3 of my items were sold at a 20% discount to the customer, and naturally, that was subtracted from my check. I was physically present in the gallery when two of my items were sold full price to customers, and sure enough, he claimed to me that those customers had been given 20% discounts, and subtracted the discount from my check. Buyers, beware. Although most of the art in the gallery is genuinely handmade, Dirk has also added cheap Made in China items throughout the shop. It's not always easy to tell what is handmade and what is manufactured in China. Anyone who would steal from artists and try to pass cheap manufactured items as handmade does not deserve our support. read more

The 1-star recommendations here are a bit odd, but whatever. Anyway, we live about 2 blocks away from this place. On our normal Friday night date nights, we often stroll in just to gaze at the art. There is actually quite a lot of good stuff there. We particularly like the Seuss stuff, but there is a lot of good stuff (and their Xmas decorations are great). We bought a Rodrigue in Carmel a few weeks ago, and we brought it in to get framed here. We spent over 2 hours in there working on the frame, and the woman was an absolute joy to work with. She was quite creative, very helpful, and mindful of both aesthetics and cost. That being said, who knew you could spend so much on a frame? Pitching the museum glass was just silly. We also bought a Seuss painting (Oh the Places You'll Go). The framing on it was AWESOME. Yellow background, raised setting. Brilliant. It looks great. Pricey? Yeah. Great work? Absolutely. And they will come and hang the pictures for you. I like the place. And I don't get where you say the staff is snobby. We have had GREAT conversations with them about artists without ever having bought from them before this recent purchase. A full year of great exchanges without a purchase, and never a snobby word. read more

Horrible Experience. We gave our daughters painting which we gave in to be framed on July 30th. We wanted to give this as a present to our daughter for her birthday. We were supposed to get the painting in two weeks. It is 9/7 and still getting excuses. After calling the store many times and not being helped at all, not one person has called us back after promising to do so for an update. Both my wife and I have been given different excuses. And not one apology!! And today when my talked to Jennifer she hung up on her . Before that all the help my wife got from her was that she just works at the gallery and cannot help us. Needless to say we regret ever giving your gallery any business! Not only is the work ethics highly disappointing but the attitude of everyone we had the misfortune to talk to on the phone was extremely condescending and rude - James has not returned calls and Jennifer behavior is well horrible. we want our daughters painting back - but all we are getting is hung up's from Jennifer. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. My fiancé and I were in the store looking for a gift for his aunt. He accidentally dropped a plastic stand a trinket was standing on. The rude, stupid lady working at the store was so rude and disrespectful we simply walked out. We will never patron this store again. read more

What I will admit: It is a nice, clean place with a nice abundance of art to look at. Time to bash. My biggest pet peeve? The people. The staff is snoody, rude, and elitist. The prices. More expensive that a cup of piss at Starbucks. And let me reitterate- they are really snoody. Don't even think of asking them a question, or you will be deemed doting and be sent off with a tear in your eye. Or you can backhand them. That works too. Studio Seven is one of my guilty pleasures. I buy their jewelry there quite often. If I walk in I always see a unique, beautiful bauble to purchase. (which is why I do not walk in as often as I use to lol!) There is a quite an array of Artists that sell their wares here. I am not one who likes mass produced jewelry from department stores. A great place for gifts for the special people in your life. Just beware, if you are going for a gift, you will probably be walking out with something for yourself as well. Love this place! Found great items for my house and gorgeous holiday gifts. I also didn't feel the pressure I often feel when I go into an art gallery, where everyone is standing around asking if you need help (which often feels like "when are you going to spend your money?"). My experiences with Studio 7 have always been wonderful. And I've been there many times, before and after I became a customer. We have purchased three separate framed pieces over several years and each time they have inexpensively and creatively framed the artwork using archival materials. In a different case, several years ago my wife and I purchased a Stephen McMillan etching from a gallery in the North Bay. I recently determined that the sealed frame was being eaten by beetles from the inside (in other words, the beetles were in the wood when the frame was made). We took the artwork to Studio 7. They tracked down the frame manufacturer (which was no simple feat) and were able to get a replacement made -- at no charge -- in the same manner as the original. They carry a wide selection of wall art (including Dr. Suess prints) as well as sculpture and wood carvings. Their inventory changes and it's always fun just wander around and look. They also carry things like inlaid wooden jewelry boxes and an amazing, carved wooden clock (that I only wish I could afford). I have always found the staff to be helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable. I have no connection with them other than as a very happy customer. read more

I just stopped into the Studio 7 Gallery Saturday after not having been in a while ('08??). Very friendly and they seem to have a much fresher approach to the displays; as the diversity of selection is much better than what I had remembered. Especially the jewelry, it's very versatile, like some of the bracelets from Twisted Silver. Also an amethyst necklace that I will be back for. Art on the walls was beautiful too! read more

We have purchased a few things from Studio 7 - two watercolors and an etching. The staff is very friendly and helpful without being pushy. They do a beautiful job on framing - make an appointment with the main framing guy - he has a great eye. Nice variety of art jewelry as well as wall art. Would be nice if there was a little more variety in the subject matter for the paintings, but if you like mostly traditional style they have a good selection. read more

There was a time when you could find this in many more places. The art while expensive to the uneducated would be found quite reasonable to the cultured and more discreet.
