    Painting with a Twist

We were given plenty of paint and plenty of time. It's such a fun activity to do and I'd definitely come back to this location!

What a most delightful experience, taking a paint & sip class! For those who don't know what a…read morepaint and sip is (a lot don't)- basically a business, like Painting With A Twist, has paint classes everyday where you pay admission per person and each class you are taught step by step how to create a specific painting. If you are of age, you have the option of bringing alcohol to sip as you paint, but you totally don't have to. Some places provide the alcohol, but this specific location at least is byob (bring your own beer). Seriously, even if you aren't an artistically inclined or creative person taking a painting class can still be a ton of fun. My dad is not artistic at all, doesn't have an artistic bone in his body really and he knows it, and he still had a ton of fun in the class and learned a lot. Plus, you have an instructor who walks you through how to paint small step by small step, and if you have questions they walk around and will help you correct things as well, so you really have as much guidance as you want, or not. As our hilarious instructor Scott said, "This is FUN art, not FINE art." This really was a ton of fun and i'm for sure going to take more classes in the future, it was the best night and Scott our instructor really helped to make it all the more fun!

It's versatile, cozy, and perfect for families and individuals seeking a fun creative experience. With loads of themed classes, workshops, and ceramic pieces, you'll never be short of options. My friends and I have attended several events and had an incredible time, every single time. The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to lend a helping hand.

It's so colorful and cheerful inside. You can feel the creativity flowing and gelling. Inspo is everywhere. The staff were so welcoming and supportive-especially to someone who still paints like an elementary school kid (that would be me). We paid $10 for the special ghouls night out session... but I've heard you can do walk ins, too. There are shelves full of all sorts of figures and plates and other pottery to choose from. The prices are on the bottom-and that covers the paint and the firing. My friend and I had a table to ourselves-and could spread out our snacks and drinks (they had cupcakes, cookies and small cans of soda available but you can also byob and foods. We brought charcuterie items, champagne and pumpkin doughnuts). It was such a relaxing and happy experience-painting, snacking and chatting. The staff checks on you. You can also go ask for more paint at any time. My spider won't win any awards-but he sure was fun to decorate! I can't wait to see how he'll look after firing. I'm told the colors will darken. It should be ready for pickup in about a week. I'm told they have art classes, day camps and summer camps and that you can hold parties here. It's fun for all ages and I may bring my mom, sister and niece here for some three generation bonding. It's a comfortable space with lots of easy parking available. I'm already looking forward to going back. See you there?!

Sew Pinellas - Fabric by the yard

I knew the owner found this space and was expanding to have a true retail location that could also host sewing classes. After Joann's closed and Jays had been closed for a while, it was depressing thinking about how the closest garment fabric stores are all a road trip away. Enter: sew Pinellas This isn't the type of shop where you'll be able to find a thousand mind-blowing fabrics. But it is the type of shop that builds a community and offers good deals. I went in today since I finally had a few minutes and they were open (note: don't trust google for times, go to their facebook page and see what they post for a given week). The owner and one employee were there and asked if I was looking for anything (not really) and left me to wander some after letting me know about the $1 grab bags, $1 patterns, $2 books, and a special selection of fabric marked down to $2/yard for a limited time. I ended up pulling two precut fabrics (1.25y of solid red woven cotton for $5, 2y of an obnoxious synthetic knit for $16) and had them cut a few yards of elastic for a couple bucks. I know this location has tons of classes and camps for kids to learn, which gives me a lot of hope that they'll be around for a long while. The sister company still sells all the cool bra and lingerie materials, but it's sectioned off from the customer area, barring some of the specialty elastics/casings/materials available in the shop. I had a lot of fun digging through things I didn't need!
