His wife Hope is car knowledgable and customer friendly, too. These are local businesspeople who are reliable and they go the extra mile. We've been taking our cars there for the 11 years we have lived in Nyack. To be clear, I'm not writing this review because the owner asked me to do it. I'm writing this review because this is a great local business, and if you are looking for a local auto repair shop they are as good as it gets. And I know when you read a bad review on Yelp, you always look to see if there's something positive that another customer will say. Also, one add'l bonus: it's a dog friendly business. The first place I went to when I moved here failed me on an inspection. He wanted me to pay to fix two things that were not broken. the dealership I took my car to certified the two things were not in need of repair ( read my review). The second place forgot to fasten the oil pan after a oil change. The third place, someone I know for over 10 years from a bar I go to, charged me 6oo bucks for a new battery. I made the mistake of not asking the price of the battery before I left it there because I never imagined someone I know for all those years would rip me off. Well was I wrong! When I asked why so much, he said when you change a battery you have to " rewire" all of the electronics!! Little did he know my father was a master mechanic and we took apart and put back together my 1966 valiant slant 6 when I was 16. I am now 75 and must have changed 40 batteries in my lifetime and never did I have to do anything when changing a battery except reset the clock. So I guess he thought I was complete idiot. But that experience has a silver linning because I found Kevin's Ace repair in Nyack and he is the most honest and qualified mechanic I have ever met with the exception of maybe "Duke" my dad of course. Just this week, I took my car to the dealership to have a check engine light and car acceleration problem inspected. The dealer located 2 issues that caused the check engine light, an engine issue and a transmission issue. They wanted $3000 for the former issue, and $5500 for the latter. This would've cost me more than my car was worth. I paid the dealership $170 for checking out the car (!), and left. Nav's crew fixed the engine issue for $190, and the check engine light went away. Turns out, the dealership wanted to replace the entire engine because of a small tear in an engine harness wire. Nav's crew fixed the wire and were happy to save me the unnecessary expense. The dealership also misdiagnosed an issue with the sensor as having been caused by the transmission. Nav knew that the acceleration issue I was experiencing had nothing to do with the transmission. All this was just this week. A while back, the check engine light had turned on for a different issue. Nav fixed the issue for a small fee, and the light went off. When the light went on a few weeks later, he took the car backed and fixed the issue for FREE (turns out it was a senor issue), because he didn't want to charge me twice. This happened several more times, and Nav didn't charge me ANOTHER PENNY. That is what an honest mechanic looks like. Unlike the dealership, who charged $170 just for checking and diagnosing the car, Nav never charged me unless he actually fixes my car. This is a mechanic you can trust.

And they said they don't remember the conversation about them being instructed on what to do. The most likely new the problems and didn't tell my brother. They even offered to fix it for a large sum of money just to keep the engine from falling. The car still doesn't work. Instead of helping they just took his money and won't give it back. Now my brother is down a car after his first one before this was hot by another vehicle and was swindled from this place with a lemon. Also the car I brought I had to bring it in for it to get fixed alost every month and the last time I brought it in they said everything was fine just like they said with my brothers car. It broke down completely and was donated to kars4kids!
