He brought a little drill to get the lug nuts off and don't realize that there were caps on the lug nuts. Although I think we still may have been in the predicament we were in cuz some of the lug nuts were seized they may have had an easier time with the proper equipment. He was nice at least and was able to find us a spot that could do it and towed us there.

Anyway, got charged 270 bucks for them to either drive my car or tow it so close to their lot. When i ask why so much for that such a short distance, they responded with, "everyone has to make money". HA! Yeah we all do, i worked 8 hours to make that amount of money, not 8 minutes to take advantage of someone who was sick and had to be taken to the hospital with no choice in the matter of whom was towing my car. State troopers called them i guess because they are a state authorized biz, they were there as i got in the ambulance. I made sure to call the troopers to get a report and to let them know what happened and they were sympathetic. They (Jan's) had a total attitude when i asked why so much and asked if they could work with me, and also hung up on me when i tried to call and dispute...now that i read all the reviews i totally get it!!!! One or two 1 star reviews can happen to anyone, but not this many...I hope people read the reviews if they're even going to consider hiring people who do business like this, but i'm sure not enough people do because it's usually some sort of emergency, so they're used to taking advantage of people. Oh course people have to make money and of course i was upset for the overcharging, but to me this is just ethically wrong.

I had a disappointing experience at the Mavis in Mahwah today…read more I brought in my own tires and rims for some tire swapping. Two bad tires were left with Mavis for disposal, while the third tire was put onto a new rim and returned to me. The total bill was $171, which I already felt was on the high side for the work performed, but I paid it without an issue. When I looked at the bill, I noticed I had been charged disposal fees for three tires even though they only disposed of two. I simply pointed this out and asked about the extra $3.50 charge. What bothered me wasn't the $3.50. It was the way the situation was handled. The employee became visibly aggravated that I would even question such a small amount and, rather than simply acknowledging the billing mistake, acted annoyed and essentially chucked the refund money into my hand. I own a business myself, and I understand that mistakes happen. An incorrect $3.50 charge would never have caused me to leave a negative review. How a customer is treated when they politely point out a mistake is a different story. For a $171 transaction, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect an accurate bill and to be treated respectfully when asking a question about it. Very disappointing customer service experience.
