I recently moved into a house in midtown Sacramento that had a room that was begging for a pool table. While I was looking for a table I started reading how a professional mover was needed to transport and set up these behemoths. I would consider myself very mechanical, so I considered doing it myself until I looked further into exactly what was required to properly move the table. Felt gets taken off, hundreds of pounds of slate must be removed, bumpers disassembled, etc. I didn't even know who to call for this type of work so I used Yelp. Stu's Pool Table Movers & Services is the highest rated company on here, so I went with them. Keep reading and you'll find out why I think I made a great decision. My roommates and I finally found the table we wanted and hired Stu's company to breakdown the table, transport it to our house, and reassemble the table. It took Stu and his assistant Carlos about 30 minutes to take apart the table. This table was in fantastic shape and they made sure to wrap every piece of exposed wood in moving blankets to protect the finish. These guys have obviously done this many times before. After the table was loaded up, they drove to my house and began putting it all back together. Unbeknownst to us, the table was originally installed without all the screws and bolts designed to hold this thousand pound beast together. Stu pointed out the problems and said he would add fasteners to make sure the table was secure at no extra charge! This is the type of service that Stu and Carlos provide. It is obviously from the way he approaches his job that he takes great pride in his work which translates into great results for his customers. It took about 2 hours for Stu and Carlos to finish putting the table together. The felt was smooth, the table was level, and Carlos did a great job polishing the wood before they left. When Stu was done, he put a piece of glass on the table and placed a ball on top of the smooth class. The table was so level that the ball didn't roll at all. Job well done! I could not be happier with the service provided by Stu and Carlos. I would recommend them to anyone thinking of moving a pool table. I see some good reviews on here, however, please BEWARE of who you are dealing with. Stu is a liar, a cheat, and a thief! I paid $1,000 for a beautiful brand new pool table from a friend going through a divorce. I got a quote of $8,000 net worth from a local dealer. I paid Stu $635 to pickup the table and place in storage. We then agreed on a monthly storage fee to store it while my house was being built. So far so good. But then Stu got himself arrested and went to prison. His crew/employees scattered and would not provide any information on my table. For a year I'm trying to get my table back and can't get a straight answer from anyone. He then gets out of prison and begins to ignore my messages. I tricked him by having my wife call him. Finally I get to talk to him and he starts apologizing profusely about everything. Turns out his crew got into his storage when he was in prison and sold my pool table. For drugs I'm assuming. Stu promises to pay back the $1,000 I'm out for the table. After no payments for over two months, I call him again and this time he says he has more money now and he will pay back the $1000 plus the $635 that I paid him to move it. That was a year ago. Every text and every message and every conversation I have with him he tells me I'm gonna get my money. Until today, when he told me he wasn't going to pay me anything and added "sorry for your loss." He's a crook, so go elsewhere for your bu Wow, that's golden! Typically I wouldn't respond to something like that but once again Stu is misrepresenting himself. By "chargeback" he means he had to pay American Express $2,540 because his accounting process had charged my AMEX $635 FIVE times! It was a one time charge, not five. So, yes, AMEX made him pay back four of them back. Just one more reason to avoid using Stu and his crew. read more

It was a life long dream to get a snooker table of my own and when I finally bought one, I wanted to make sure that I get it installed by someone who'll do it with the care and attention that is needed to install the table properly. I did some looking around and came across Stu. After reading all the great reviews, I decided to give him a call. I rarely write a review for anything, but I felt this was necessary. When customer service, professionalism, and knowledge are all wrapped up into one package, it's important to share this experience with everyone. I purchased a used pool table (wood, not slate) and called Stu to disassemble, move, and re-assemble it. It was located in Pollock Pines and disassembly was under a time crunch due to impending low snow levels, plus the previous owner sold the house and needed to vacate within a day or two. Stu showed up, disassembled the table and moved it to the current location on El Dorado Hills. In the course of disassembly Stu pointed out the bumpers were as hard as rocks due to age, and suggested re-doing them. I agreed. I also asked how much it would cost to convert the table to slate. The cost was reasonable so I gave him the go-ahead. He and his co-worker assembled, leveled, re-felted both the table and bumpers (with two colors to accent the colors of the room). They were here until midnight finishing up rather than having to return the next day. So for well under $1,000 I have a like-new slate pool table! July 23, 2014 Our family heirloom, a 9 foot 1908 Monarch Brunswick pool table, has been passed around from one family member to another for the past 85 years. Now it was my turn. The issue was how I would get this vintage antique 3 slate 100+ year old pool table (in exceptional condition but weighting about a half ton) to my home from nearly 400 miles away... and do so without any damage. I found several "professional" pool table movers in Sacramento willing to charge me in excess of 2 grand to safely dismantle, transport and reassemble our pool table but the quotes were too little too rich. So I've had 1 full week where the last thing I do before going to bed every night, is shoot some pool and occasionally have a beer too! ;-) I have to say, I look forward to coming home now and encouraged every nite as I lay down to sleep after having improved my "game"-- making shots I normally wouldn't have made out at a pool hall somewhere. I've never had a pool table before, much less have I ever seen everything that goes into moving one, other than that they are too heavy for me to play with. After a quick google/yelp search, Stu looked like the one to go with. After a quick phone call, we scheduled a time to meet at the lady's house whom I was buying the table from. Stu met with his helper and had the table all the way disassembled, safely packed, and ready to go within half an hour. Followed me to my house and set it up while explaining every step to me and why each step was necessary. He made sure it was perfectly level and showed me how perfectly level it was by rolling a ball down the bare slate with no felt. As one can assume, the ball rolled straight as an arrow. The fit and finish when he was done was, (and still is) perfect. Looks brand new. Will definitely call Stu next time I need anything related to this table or anything billiards related! I purchased a pool table from a craigslist ad, and although I got a good deal and was very satisfied in my novice opinion Stuart's expertise and knowledge served us very well. He was able to point out some flaws with the table we purchased, He then offered us a trade for a table that he had refurbished plus his moving services. They work very fast and were very respectful and took good care within our home. The end result was we have a beautiful new pool table and still stayed well within our budget. Stu and Nazareth moved and re-felted our antique 8' Brunswick table (110 year old family heirloom) for us and did an absolutely beautiful job. We looked around for someone who had experience with antique tables and would have the care and patience to do the job right. Definitely found that in Stu! They took their time and definitely didn't cut corners--between the ball return system, one-inch slate, and not being put together quite properly last time, this was not quick or easy work. These guys know what they are doing! I had another company move my table about a year ago and after they were gone my table never played correctly. I decided to reasearch about billiard table moving and discovered that they should be didassembled everytime they are moved, so i googled "who is the best pool table mover in California" and there at the top of the list was Stu's Pool Table Mo ers. Stu and his crew showed up on time, was very careful with my flooring, explained what was going to take place and in the end, polished the wood, and used a piece of thick glass and a billiard ball and placed it everywhere on the playing surface and the ball never moved a bit. So, another so called "pool table mover" bailed out with my one piece 3/4" 4x8 table literally half way out the door on closing day of the sale of my house. No, I didn't wait till the last minute, he rescheduled 4 other times. But that's another story in itself. Called Stu at 5:30 PM and explained my dilemma. He immediately told me he would be there within the hour. Shows up as promised, assessed the situation and gave me a quote that was actually lower than the flake mover. Stu did an outstanding job! I highly recommend him. One other company offered to move my table by just propping it on it's side and rolling it out the front door on rollers. This would have damaged my slate for sure. Stu went above and beyond to ensure the table was taken apart, all parts labeled and securely stored/taped together in my garage with protective wrap and blankets. When he re-installed after we had new flooring put in, he meticulously ensured the table was level and even repaired some torn felt inside one of the pockets at no additional charge. I'm so glad my relator highly recommended Stu to have my pool table delivered and put together. Not only was he on time (which you do have to remember that you have to allow a little bit of extra time as putting a table together is a great skill). But didn't trust just anyone to come to my house and get it all moved safely. It was a one piece slate table and was very heavy.
