Really pretty PINK themed, black owned diner with different sections for photo ops. Greeted warmly and encouraged to pick my own seat. Given water right away and offered another drink off the menu. Wasn't sure what I wanted so samples were shared to help me decide. Hands down lavender lemonade for the win. I ordered the salmon and grits as well as the pancakes. The salmon was just ok and the grits had too much of an earthy flavor for my taste. The pancakes were pretty good but I had to request butter. Overall, another visit for other options may be a choice in the future. I do love the strength and resilience of the owners and the team. Stopped in to see if the hype I read in media reviews was for real. It's cool kinda. Fun colors, cool decor, female centric which is cool. The service was good. A couple of young kids running the place on their own seemed to be doing well with no manager in sight really. The food was basic breakfast nothing original but decent. I had heard it was pricey but it's no more so than any other place these days. Nothing to truly describe in detail as it was okay but not memorable. The Mac n cheese was pretty good. Someone told me it was similar to Pearls Place on 39th & Michigan but not even close. It's good at Stussy's but Pearl is nearly impossible to beat. The shake was the best part. A pretty good real ice cream shake. I usually check out bathrooms which guides my decisions on several factors in a restaurant. It wasn't impressive though. Like I said it was basic breakfast. Ordered their birria ramen for delivery and I don't want to judge the spot by this at all because I've heard good things about them. I may just need to go in person. Regarding the ramen - it was OVERLY salty. I couldn't even finish it because I felt like it was burning my taste buds and I'm not trying to be dramatic. Came here at Sunday brunch time, but somehow I was drawn to this Birria Ramen dish that seemed so out of place along with eggs, waffles and pancakes. But the server said it was amazing and it just was calling my name. You can request different spice levels and I did ask for spicy, but it wasn't too over the top. I was so excited when I learned Stussy Diner was opening near my neighborhood. I love having a local spot like this. I visited when they first opened and a few times for takeout and most recently I went after winning their scavenger hunt free meal. Early on there were a few small mistakes but they quickly fixed them and you can really see the improvements. Customer service is great, the diner's exterior is still super cute, and the food was delicious. Their hours have changed so just double check before going. Definitely worth supporting! read more

This place is so freaking adorable!!! Everything is very girly and pink. I ordered the strawberry shortcakes (when in Rome!) and they were every bit as decadent and over the top as I was hoping. My husband got the baddie breakfast sandwich with beef bacon and loved it too. Also, they don't appear to serve pork here from what I noticed, but their offerings do not leave anything to be desired. I came here a couple months ago to check out the hype of Stussy's Diner. I love to walk inside an atmosphere that has a colorful decor and good vibes. This place is gorgeous and fun. Great place to take some photo ops for social media. I was the first customer so I was able to sit anywhere that I liked. I chose to sit by the window to enjoy the outside view. I was looking over my menu and a handsome guy with a Milk Man uniform appeared at my table. Instantly I gave this place a 5 Star. Just for the creative of the uniforms and handsome Milk Man. Ok back to my review on Stussy's Diner food and service review. After my brief distraction, I ordered the popular Velvet Crush Pancake, side of bacon and hashbrowns. The food was decent. I was disappointed with my burnt charred hashbrowns. I had My Milk Man Eli return them back to the kitchen. I couldn't eat burnt hard hashbrowns that had smoke taste. I enjoyed the casual retro vibes in this place. Nice music, services was good. The food could of been a little better. The owner took her time to stop at each table to chat with the customers. This is a high energy Frequent visited breakfast place in the Chicago area. Parking is limited where you can park on the street. Loved the decor and the outfits of the staff. They have a very extensive menu they give you a paper menu upon your request. They offer a bring your own beverage with a fee. However, the fee was pretty large fee for bringing your own bottle of champagne. It's $20. I don't know where it's stated that the cost is that much on Yelp or online. They do also include the tip in your order so be mindful so you're not double tipping unless you have excellent service. it took a while for the food to come out and it also took an extra long period of time for the waitress to take our order. Some of the items on the menu are not fresh. I had the chicken and waffles which is one of their staple items. The waffles were good. However, the chicken was not that great. It came with the hot honey was basically hot sauce mixed with a little syrup in a dash of honey. It's a staple to try came for the hype of it, but the food was not that spectacular. I am definitely not the target audience as I never brunch and definitely am not the type to post my food on instagram. But I was down to try it. The food itself was not bad just kind of very average especially for the price. My pie was just a crust over some kind of saucy chicken mess which was tasty but difficult to eat. Today, I wrapped up my year-long Brunch Challenge at Stussy's Diner in Bridgeport on Chicago's South Side. The spot radiates a playful retro vibe with its striking pink and green decor--possibly paying homage to the AKA sorority. Although the restaurant doesn't currently have reservations, we were greeted and seated right away. The menu boasted American and comfort food classics, including steak and eggs, salmon and grits, chicken and waffles and omelettes and flights of french toast. The husband and I decided to get the Southwestern Omelette, Salmon Croquettes and a side of grits with cajun cream sauce, and along with a side of bacon and pancakes. The food was good, I'd give it a 4 out of 5 stars. The grits was the only thing that was missed the mark for me. Overall, Stussy's Diner is a delightful place for brunch with friends. read more

We showed up at the perfect time because there were plenty of seats available. Although, our coffee came out pretty quickly and more coffee, service was a little slow. I ordered the grilled salmon with grits and pancakes on the side, the fish and grits were a little disappointing. My grits weren't the most creamy and the sauce was a bit overwhelming. had high hopes for Stüssy's Diner in Chicago, but my Mother's Day visit was a huge letdown. We were a group of three and were added to the waitlist--no problem there. The issue came when, after confirming we were still waiting, our table was given away to a smaller party that arrived after us. They were two people, yet they got a booth meant for us given we were ahead of them. We were then crammed into a smaller booth It felt unfair and dismissive. From what I observed, we were the only half Black-Latina group in the diner that day, but we did not look the part. It's hard not to feel like our race or appearance played a role in how we were treated--especially when others were seated faster and treated better. Once seated, service was painfully slow. It took 15 minutes to get water, they gave everyone in the restaurant water with ice but my table, yet we remained clam and respectful and another 15 just to place our order. Our server kept getting distracted, looking at other tables while we spoke, and even after repeating our order multiple times, it still came out wrong. To make it worse, one of the plates had a hair in the food. I have a couple pictures of everyone around us with water with ice but ours, we asked for ice and they gave us a cup to leave with it. I came in excited to celebrate Mother's Day, but instead left feeling disrespected, disappointed, and invisible. I expected better from such a well-known spot. read more

Our waitress didnt even speak to us outside of asking if we were ready to order. The ambiance was stale not fun not inviting. I believe the hostess was more lively than our waitress. I was absolutely ecstatic when I noticed that they offer a french toast flight which I absolutely loved and the cheesecake and the cinnamon roll be my favorite. Tried coming in Saturday to treat my daughter to valentines brunch, per her request here, and we were so saddened to learn that their " new winter hours " don't include brunch on Saturdays? Huh? My happiness in finally having a local weekend brunch spot has been crushed overnight since Saturdays and Sundays are our brunch days. We ended up going to one of our old brunch spots in Pilsen but man, I really wanted to see this place thrive but not sure that's going to happen with just one brunch weekend day. I'm also trying to understand why they would even prefer to be opened for dinner instead? We were able to get a table right away and it only took a few minutes for our server to take our order. The coffee was a lot better than I expected--we all really enjoyed it and didn't need to fix it up very much. I got the cinnamon roll pancakes, and they were so good. I also love that they offer andouille sausage--that extra bit of heat was really nice with the sweet pancakes. Scrambled eggs were fluffy and delicious as well. Overall, it's a bit on the pricey side for us, but the food portions are generous and it all tasted really great. This place is super cute! It's decked out in a 50s diner theme, including staff uniforms but really tastefully so. And the staff was incredibly nice! While there was a great selection of food, it's the food that prevents me from giving them 5 stars. The portions are good, and the food comes out quickly even when they're busy. But I got their 2-2, which had eggs, hash browns, sausage and French toast. Everything was good except the eggs. I don't think it was 2 eggs, and they were almost fully cooked, but not quite, which I didn't realize till I had eaten most of my breakfast or I would have sent them back. Not a huge deal, but not great. Also, side note, they have no pork products - the sausage is turkey (good) the bacon is beef (not as good). Ultimately, will be back! We came here on a Wednesday and it was shockingly busy! I will be to the point by saying that the service was incredibly slow, and we probably sat for 15 minutes before we were attended to. We were probably at the diner for a total of 3 hours. Atmosphere was so cute and I do love the uniforms! However... The food was BOMB. Birria grilled cheese, are you kidding? It was so delicious and so filling, you could probably share it with someone else. Fries were great. I also had the lavender lemonade that was a perfect balance of flavors. We had breakfast at Stussy's early on a Sunday morning and really enjoyed our experience. We had a party of 4, including a toddler, and they were very accommodating. We shared the salmon croquet with the Cajun grits, roasted veggie omelette with hash browns, and cinnamon roll french toast. The salmon croquettes had a lot of flavor. They were heavily seasoned, but not too too salty. The Cajun grits had good flavor, but I like my grits a little thicker in consistency. The omelette, hashbrowns and french toast were wonderful and I would highly recommend those. Hashbrowns were nice and crispy and the french toast has a nice crunch and was the perfectly sweet addition to complement our savory meal. The portions were large and we had leftovers. Before I stepped into the diner, my expectations were kind of low. I was expecting a gimmicky, Instagram restaurant with food and drink dyed pink. I was pleasantly surprised and Stussy's exceeded my expectations. The decor inside, is tasteful and fun. It is certainly very pink, but it wasn't overwhelming. I'm really glad our food tasted good and was NOT dyed pink! The restaurant filled up as we were finishing and it had the feel of a really cute, warm, inviting diner!
