The staff was amazing and friendly and felt very welcome from the entrance to checking out. Prize was good to be honest and the food was really good. Also noticed that you can reserve a table as well just putting that on here so you girls and guys know. Tom's Place Pancake House is a solid local business with good pancakes. The pancakes are pretty tasty, and the staff were very nice and accommodating. The menu is a normal breakfast menu with the focal point being pancakes. I settled on getting a traditional stack which was pretty huge. The taste of the pancakes reminded me of a funnel cake. My brunch companion got the seasonal flavor pancake which was the orange marmalade. This stack was little excessive with the amount of whip cream and orange marmalade on the top, so I don't recommend that. I enjoyed brunch overall, but I would probably advise to stick with the traditional stack if you like more of a traditional breakfast. My preference is to keep it simple when it comes to breakfast. read more

I have been coming here for months and every time I try something new and always a smile when I leave. They dont want singles! I walked in there were 4 empty tables and i was told i needed to wait for 20 minutes until a table for 1 or 2 opened up. I stood there staring at 4 empty tables then decided to leave. Not very friendly . read more

Arrived at 1:00 today but the grill closes at 12:55 per the sign on the door and the restaurant closes at 2. Do they close at 1 or 2? If they close at 2, why shut the grill down at 12;55? It makes more sense to close at 1 versus 2. It's a shame has it's been on my list to try out since it's in the neighborhood. I will tell others to either show up when they open or not at all. read more

This place has perfect pancakes. Fluffy, soft, and slightly crispy on the edges. I got seasonal blueberry. Delicious. Great service. Casual vibe, community supporting, lovely outdoor garden with tables. Don't skip the sausage links, homemade, juicy, and flavorful. The place isn't fancy but it's homey and you can tell everything is done with care. Bilingual staff. read more

I have been here multiple times for breakfast. The only issue I have is if you want to do a pick up order, there have been times that they say they are too busy to honor the order. This has happened with other coworkers calling the restaurant as well. I don't think this is good business practice. read more

I wasn't going to write but after seeing another review about the closing time I need to share our experience. Why? We were turned away at 12:50. I explained we did drive a distance and there was an empty table. My thought is if you think this is an acceptable practice, offer your guests a coffee to go, a pastry or a gift certificate. Just smart business practice and being neighborly. Maybe the hours should be extended and flexible. read more

I've gone to this place 3 times. The first 2 times everything was nice. The last time is why I will never go back. I went with my son to have breakfast. We came in, everything was good, then it wasn't. I ordered a breakfast with sausage as the side. Once it came, the sausage was severely undercooked. The lady who's normally at the front came over when I was trying to get it switched out and alert them of this. She got an attitude, went to talk to the kitchen, then came back and said, "Next time, ask for it to be double cooked" .......she said this as if I was suppose to know and proceeded to say where they get them from, etc. She was rude and I just packed up my food and left. I'm big on service and she ruined that place for me. I would have loved to continue to frequent this place, but I will not be. read more

Food service is okay staff can be a bit abundant during the weekends! And it's usually crowded! Food overall could be better some dishes are way too much or undercooked other plates are quite small and expensive for their posted price! Hands down, my favorite breakfast/brunch spot in Back of the Yards. Everything I've tried has been amazing, but I keep coming back for the cheesecake French toast. You would think it sounds super sweet/heavy, but it's perfect. Their hash browns are also bomb! Coffee's from Back of the Yards Coffeehouse which is delicious. They sell goodies from local artists and their new patio is beautiful. Owners and staff are kind hearted and I love hearing about how they engage with the community and what they're up to next. read more

A bright friendly place that serves very good breakfast. The pancakes are some of the best I've tasted, light and fluffy. Even the syrup they use is higher quality, my sister asked:). The owner said the pancakes were his father's own recipe. The place is named after his father. Also had the breakfast burrito, also very good. I'm a hash brown fan and they were great.
