Very poor service, was not satisfied with my hair and the salon didn't care to do anything about it. Incredibly disappointed.

Style Master is an excellent salon. All the ladies that work there are very knowledgeable in cuts and colors. I have been going there for 30+ years and have had the same stylus. I asked to get my underneath dyed and she dyed one half, when i asked if she was gonna dye the other half she shrugged and said "too late". Average haircut. The stylist spent the whole time talking to the other stylist about her bad eyelash experience. Which is whatever, but it didn't make me want to come back especially since the cut is nothing to write home about. The reason this is a 2 star review is because they require cash only tips, even though they accept credit for payment. Sorry you don't want to pay taxes on your entire income like the rest of us, I won't be back. read more

I initially gave only 4 stars because I was thinking of fancy salons in Royal Oak, etc. and this isn't one of those. After going back tonight and thinking about my experience, I realized that it doesn't need to be somewhere other than Garden City to be 5 stars for me. As usual, the service was awesome. My color rocks, haircut is great. This salon is the perfect mix of high-end professional products and comfortable neighborhood service. Went for a trim a few weekends ago and ended up not loving it. When I communicated this with the salon, the owner Melanie reached out to me and went above and beyond to remedy the situation. They were immediately able to get me in for a consultation. At the consultation my stylist discussed several options to fix the situation, and we decide that putting in hair extensions would give me the fullness that I was missing after the cut (at no cost to me). The entire staff at Style Masters were extremely helpful throughout the entire process and I am very happy with how my hair turned out! The most awesome hairdresser and fun person is Kat. I just started going to this place around 3 years ago. Prior to that was paying high prices and really not liking the doo!!! But, now that I have found Kat at Syle Masters Salon on Warren Avenue in Garden City, MI - my problems with hair have been solved. She is awesome and everyone in the salon are very nice. I love the way she massages my head when I sit down in her chair and she starts to massage my head all my cares in the world are gone! The ladies at this place have always been the best at what they do. I have brought my 4 year old here twice, and both times they have treated her like the princess getting ready for a ball. What a great visit! I was nervous about starting with a new stylist and getting my hair highlighted. The receptionist was very friendly the two times I talked to her Via telephone and then in person. My stylist, Nicole, did a fantastic job with my highlights- base brown red with honey/ caramel chunky highlights... Perfect!!! I was reserved about going lighter with the highlights, but now feel quite confident in Nicole's work and will definitely play around more with them in the future. All of the girls were friendly. Stylists tend to not want to do the cut you ask for, they often say that it is not the right cut for your hair, then I went to a new salon and got the cut I wanted and it was a great cut. they say that you can come back to have a cut you don't want fixed without charge, but if you ask for a new stylist they will charge you. this happened with my daughter and myself....just find another salon that will do what you want read more

The ladies working there are so nice and made me feel very comfortable. Rachel was fantastic! Loved her! She did the best job cutting my hair! I have been getting my hair cut and colored by Samantha at this salon for 11 years. I have long hair, and am very particular about my style. Samantha continues to do a great job, even when I get brave enough to do some funky coloring. She's a great stylist who takes the time to really listen and do things right. Wow! I am happy to say that I have found a new salon! After finding out last minute that I would need to attend an event, I booked an appointment at Style Master. Katie was really nice to book me an appointment that day. I requested a simple blow out, and even though that seems pretty simple, you'd be surprised how many people can not do a decent one due to my hair length and texture. To make a long story short I was a little nervous as I knew nothing about my stylist Katie. However I was pleasantly surprised when I met her, she was very friendly and asked a lot of questions. What I loved is that she didn;t settle for the simple and easy straight blow out she asked me , how I wanted it blown out and I requested a little bit of wave, and she did not disappoint! My hair was bouncy, smooth and sleek in all the right places and wavy in the rest, I was in love. The cost is beyond reasonable compared to some other salons. I am totally sold and will be back! Getting a hair cut turned into a nightmare! When I found Nicole at Style Masters, I did not have to worry about getting good results. Wanted to go to an Aveda salon, went to Style masters, went to get a color and highlight, when I was done, I liked how my hair looked until I went home and combed through my hair, my gray was still there! I was not happy to say the least. I called the salon, got the run around then finally got to talk to Melony the owner, she told me absolutely no refund when I was given the impression that I would get one. So, the only suggestion she made to me was to come in and get it done all over, I don't know about anyone else but I do't have time to keep running back and forth to a salon that was suppose to do it right in the first place, right?! So after thinking about it and paying $92 for the visit after being extremely disappointed, I never went back again, would you? I would not recommend this salon to anyone! read more
